    My Trip Report

    Hello Dear Readers!

LobsterFest is over. It is once again "that time of year". The lobster are all dead and the Red Lobster Hostesses are limping back to their gynecological rejuvenation appointments. It is time for BeeeJay to THROW OFF THE CORPORATE SHACKLES and bust loose into another season of completely insane off-the-rails debauchery and shenanigans.

    Let us begin.

Ok so I wasn't sure how to format these upcoming trips. Due to "international restrictions", which you can interpret to be a combination of covid and international arrest warrants, I have had to make some minor travel adjustments recently and am now slated for 5 trips totaling 88 nights away from home over the next 117 days.

After noting all the "Killer Couples" and "Murder, Accident, or Suicide" shows my wife has piled up on the DVR, I realized my safest bet was to not spend over few days at home in a row to avoid the usual slow poisoning, ground glass, etc approached. Gotta make her at least work for it, Am I Right? :)

So anywho, I'm gonna actually break this up into two reports. One now I'll do as a Vegas Trip Report, because it includes 3 Vegas stints totaling 11 nights:

Part 1: 7 Days starting Wednesday, Flying to Phoenix, driving to Vegas for 4 nights at Venetian. Staying at buddies house in Phoenix, rented a Suburban to drive all the guys and golf clubs.

Part 2: 21 Days, Driving west from Chicago Clark Griswald style, with 4 nights split between Wynn and Cosmo. I'm stopping at various golf courses in Nebraska and Colorado, Vegas and Phoenix. In addition to the Vegas hotels I'll report on the Westin Kierland Scottsdale and Fairmont Scottsdale Princess.

Part 3: 14 Days, Flying to Vegas, 3 nights Wynn, 2 nights Cosmo, 1 night overlap. Then fly to Phoenix and 10 days there split between an AirBNB and Andaz Scottsdale Resort where I've reserved a sweet Bungalow that attaches directly to a private cabana on one of the pools.

So over the next 56 days, I'm basically home just long enough to do laundry, refill ointment prescriptions, grab more golf balls and tees, repack and head back out.

Thanks for reading and following along, I'll add more detail on the first leg next!

So for Part 1, my 18-year old will be dropping me off at O'Hare bright and early Wednesday for a flight to Phoenix. I've got a Suburban rented via Costco Travel and will grab the golf clubs, large checked suitcase and head out to my buddies house in northern Phoenix, likely for some In-N-Out Burgers and some drinks in his hot tub.

We are playing golf at Borat's course on Thursday, then hitting the road for Vegas first thing Friday morning.

Driving up from Phoenix will be BeeeJay, Money, Borat, Borat GF and Borat Ex-BIL. We are meeting Appleseed in Vegas as he drives in from LA. Borat is dropping of the GF at her friends house for the weekend while the boys split 3 and 2 between 2 comp rooms at The Venetian.

Upon arrival Friday, we will start with Mai Tai's at the pool until we get one step short of black out drunk and stumble to the casino hoping to survive until our dinner at Mateo's.

Saturday we hit the ground running with a morning tee time at Bear's Best, followed by dinner at Cut.

Sunday we begin our pool day with LAVO brunch, and hope to god we are conscious enough to make our dinner reservation at Lemongrass.

Monday we again head to golf at Royal Links, with an early dinner at Yardbird designed to free us up just in time for the Raiders-Saints game.

Tuesday we drive back to Phoenix and I fly back to Chicago Wednesday morning, just in time for a Thursday tee time.

Following @BeeeJay - if you don’t mind, can you give a quick write up on the whole LobsterFest thing. I feel like I might be missing out because I don’t know the backstory. I finally found the “comp yourself” thread. Smart!

    Sounds like fun!

I know this is common knowledge, but stay hydrated on the course!! We were out there last weekend in 112* weather, and one of our guys passed out on the course on Hole 15. Had to call the paramedics. And that was with us drinking tons of water during the round.

Good advice and appreciate that---we actually played Bali Hai on a 110+ day in July and did a solid mix of gatorade, water, and white claw and were talking another round coming off 18, of course proceeded to get wasted at the Aria pool and miss our dinner reservation.

Sure, no problem. Back in the early '90's Borat and I worked together at Red Lobster which at the time was a hotbed of drug and alcohol abuse and women of ill repute, not unlike Las Vegas itself.

During a meeting of the "Bad Boys of Red Lobster" I was elected president of the "Hostess Satisfaction Committee". All of us dated and banged numerous hostesses and waitresses. It's not dissimilar to the movie "Waiting" and if we had any credible witnesses we might have a case against its writers for copyright infringement. Borat actually had his stomach pumped at the emergency room after his initiation. While I was President, I was not present as I was passed out face down on a beachfront dance floor at The Clevelander on Miami Beach listening to Deee-Lite open with "Groove Is In The Heart" after watching "Touchdown Tommie" Frazier lead the Nebraska Cornhuskers to a come-from-behind victory over a Miami team which included Warren Sapp and Ray Lewis.

In addition to Borat's hospitalization, I returned home to my bedroom door being destroyed by a jilted ex-girlfriend (employed at the time as a Red Lobster Hostess) who had assumed at a party the night before we left for Miami that I was locked in the room with a particularly slutty condiment girl (they put the lemons and tartar sauce etc on the plates). The sad truth was that I had drank Absolute Citron for the first time that night, in a small bottle and hadn't realized it wasn't a wine cooler but straight vodka. So I was actually locked in the room in a pool of my own vomit, while my sister and the condiment girl smoked weed and watched 90210 and Melrose Place.

If you are traveling thru Nebraska golfing, I recommend you stop over in Gothenburg and play “ Wildhorse” great links course and reasonable prices. Also have limited lodging on the course.
Brother in law possibly could get you on Sandhills course in Mullen (north of I 80, 60 miles. It is a top 10 in the world rated course in Golf magazine. But they close down after Labor Day.
Will be reading your report daily!

Good advice! We are playing Wild Horse. Staying in Kearney the night before and North Platte the night after, working my way west. I have a college roommate who live in Broken Bow who I’m playing with. He also worked at Red Lobster and was at the Clevelander in 1994

Kind of ashamed to admit, but I still have the complete '94 to '97 seasons on VHS. It's the only reason I still own a VCR, and will rewatch a game every now and then. After the last ten years or so, I've kind of given up watching them bumble through a season. Frost should be happy they don't have to play this season, I doubt they would have improved on last year's 5-7 record.

Totally agree. It would have been real ugly. I was in grad school with the roommate I’m playing golf with at Wildhorse during those years and man what a shit show that was.

We had numerous run ins with the Peters brothers, LP, Frosty etc during those years. A couple of the players GFs worked with us or our girlfriends at the time. You may recall a Pick 6 in the blowout win over Florida, the guy who made that play (Michael Booker) also made a pretty nice form tackle when he body slammed me at downtown Amigos for talking to his girlfriend at the salsa bar.

I rarely watch the beat downs now, but we go to the Northwestern game here in Chicago every other year.
