BJ1986: You heard that the Plaza was most likely so upset because you played your girlfriends card during the promotion, but not why. If people could get away with playing this promotion with other people's cards you would find guys hanging outside the building offering strangers $200 to sign up for the promotion and let them play the whole thing. ($1,000 of play for $500 and the hustler gets to keep the profits). This is why the Plaza is so strict about it. It's such a good promotion that it's easy to screw the casino. They're protecting their interests. That they came down on you like you were some manipulative profiteers is shameless but understandable.

Maybe. Maybe they need some training on how to deal with people that are taking advantage of their promotion,

In my experience, the answer here is 'C'. The Plaza has a ridiculously low earned comp rate on coin in. For VP is is virtually zero. Four Queens/Binions is almost FIFTY times that when playing 99%+ VP. Why people gamble here is beyond me.

So, I guess if he was stealing chips from your craps table, the casino should just say " excuse me sir, we noticed you were stealing other players chips, please do not do that again."

From the Plaza site: "$500 ON US
“Players club offers the best new-member benefit in town with the $500 on Us loss-rebate promotion”- Anthony Curtis
New Royal Rewards members receive $500 On Us Promotion. Actual slot loss of 100 up to 500 will be reimbursed in free slot play or promotional chips. See Royal Rewards Desk for details
    ."

My question is, if it's a reimbursement (unless I'm totally missing how its paid out, which I could be), why didn't they simply say "no, you weren't the one playing, unfortunately you're not eligible"? Why such a "Reno 911" handling of the event? Just politely decline reimbursement.

I saw a smaller scale situation like this at Cosmo, handled MUCH more classily. I was behind a lady trying to cash in extra promo vouchers for play. Apparently, multiple people had been playing on her card--- at the same time. Unlike the OP, it wasn't a case of "I thought it would be ok," she KNEW better.

When the lady/culprit argued, the Identity lady politely explained that unfortunately, they had not one or two, but MULTIPLE simultaneous instances with the same card being played at the same time, on mULTIPLE machines. The Identity desk lady was very nice, and said she wished she could, but unfortunately this just nullified the promotion. Nice. Civil. They just didn't pay out. I was really impressed with the Identity gal, beautifully handled.

Conversely, The OP couple checked repeatedly with the on-call host and player desk, but kept getting told "come back later". Instead of complaining, they just kept checking back in, as they were repeatedly told to do. Like others said, if you know you're doing something shady, you're probably not going to highlight it to a host.

Bottomline, this could have been handled much, much better, especially if it was a reimbursement that the Plaza could simply decline.

Vegas sees questionable behavior/grey areas all the time, the better places are just more artful/respectful in how they handle this questionable behavior----this was NOT the way to do it, if it was done in the way the post outlined. And we ALL see tons of grey area issues on this board, sharing cards with multiple people to get comps, no playing a front-end comp, booking a 3 night comped offer and never staying---just to get FP/RC (and thus taking the money AND the room), massively abusing an unlimited food comp by inviting whole parties on MULTIPLE nights, this was NOT the worst offense I've read, but definitely had one of the most dramatic handlings.

I'm frugal. I'm a mid-level player. I swore I'd never stay at the super high-end places. Ironically? I get better service and even better comps at the higher-end places. I can almost guarantee this would have been handled with more elan at a better location.

To the OP, you have a healthy gambling budget it seems. Yes, don't mix promos cards in the future, but more importantly, find a place that is a little more service-oriented. There were many ways they could have handled this with more decorum...this was not it...and I'm sorry!

Keep in mind the promotion is only good if you LOSE $500 first, only then do you get a chance to get it back by getting a portion of it dolled back over time(free play only), they lost not only the $500 but another grand as well, It's really not that good of a promotion( I sure as hell would never try it).

Knowing what I do about the Plaza( and remember they didn't even give them the chance to get it back, they forced them out after THEY did their part of the bargain), I think the plaza noticed they were from france(and were unlikely to ever come back), and decided to screw them over so they couldn't possibly get the money back.

The whole thing stinks, we all know what free play is worth...and it's not the equivalent of real money. The sad thing is that there were so few people in the casino that they had the time to watch every player(and monitor their players cards).

I agree. Big dramatic post by a first time poster.

    My take is this.
    You did something wrong.
The casino stopped you from doing it.
You had your nose out of joint so you create an elaborate story of your "mistreatment."
    It happens all the time.
We have no knowledge of how this truly went down.
    Zip. Nada.
    And we never will.

It wasn't sharing the card. It was USING her card on a promo, and SHE was NOT there. Using a card for a few pennies in points is one thing most do. The treatment is one thing that should have been handled better. But like I said before. The use was 100% wrong in this case. In the old days, people were buried in the desert for less.

This was not about the normal use the spouses card to build points.

This was part of a promo. Read the original post. $500 promo?

AND - to all of those that think the casino treated them poorly..

We are only hearing one side of the story. Do you really think that stuff you read on the internet is always the full and complete story? Only naive people would believe that.

You're absolutely right about it being about the promo, and thus at least partly justified to deny them the promotion.

But the shoddy treatment by the hosts on call is easy to believe because it fits the reported experiences of so many others on here. So even if it is one side, I buy it.

I never dealt with the hosts per se, but even my experience of the people at their players desk is of them being ill informed, and not particularly friendly or helpful.

My take is that there may be a "rest of the story" somewhere.

The guy has been a member here since Mar 2016 - he admits it is his first post. Y'all are pretty much accusing him of being a liar. So what is the requirements for being believed? Of course it is only one side of the story. I would think that if the Plaza has had a problem with people playing on other's cards for this promotion they would emphasize this when that member is signing up. "You have to be the one playing and we do monitor with cameras for this" - Or does the Plaza want couples to lose the $500 knowing they will zing them in the end.

I disagree. I see, and share, skepticism of the horrid, horrid treatment of a cute, young, laid back and classy customer, but I don't see indication people are calling B.S. on the story.

"Y'all are pretty much accusing him of being a liar."

who called him a liar? On the contrary. Believe his story and he is still wrong for using the promo on friends card, especially since she was not there. No replies from OP in 60 posts. Guess this is his one and only post for another 2 years. At least this is more interesting than the best buffet
