We always offer the $20 at check in and always end up with an upgrade. Going on the wife's birthday this June and was wondering if commenting that we're here for her b-day and offering the $20 will merit an even more generous offer. ;-)

Anything is possible, but I bet one or the other would get the same result as both. Of course, its all one big crap shoot anyhoo.

The trick hasn't worked for us at Bally's the last two times (last week as well as this past January). They comment was "Comped room -- no upgrades." Maybe it will work with a paid room.

Gonna try in 2 weeks. I have paid for a Jubilee Tower room. I am hoping for any upgrade that has 2 beds.

Had five comp nights in Indigo Room. Paid only $123 in resort fees. (Still hate the fact I go to Vegas and have to pay for my room...at least the room wi-fi was decent and easy to use).

Offered the check in host $20 with ID & CC. His remark was, "I'll see what I can do, I'll try my best", and "Well, I can get you a bigger room, at least I won't have to charge you".

I didn't really care for his responses. As if I was really putting him out there to try and do me an unordinary favor. Never got a "Is this for me?!", or a "Thank you" as we've gotten in the past. But he was really bland. Have had excited hosts in the past. And we are always extra friendly with the hosts, as I'm sure they appreciate the friendly, kind guests as apposed to the ones who arrive with an attitude.

Best we got was a deluxe Indigo room, crappy view. But at least my wife had more counter space.

Went in May for a stag, and had a comped Indigo Deluxe Room for four nights. Offered the sandwich to an extremely pleasant lady, who upgraded me to a Tower Suite, 24th floor overlooking the marketplace and the Bellagio fountains! The room was not only updated, but immaculate. To top everything off, she also deducted two nights of resort fees at checkout! Very Happy with the results!

if those 4 nights were Sun-Thur, you had already beaten the odds for getting a "free" upgrade...if you try that Fri-Sat, FORGET IT.

If you can do it, Sun. - Thurs. is the way to go. Cheaper rooms and better chance of an upgrade.

I had booked a last minute package in March and had booked an Indigo room for my father and I. When I went to check in on a Saturday night, I politely just asked if they had any complimentary upgrades, and we were moved to a Jubilee room. Sometimes you don't need to talk money, just be polite and ask.

Booked a Mon-Wed in Jubilee room for 2 nights through CET marketing person, checked in at Diamond room. Got upgraded to a Jubilee Grand Suite, which was nice but I was double booked at the GN the first night and they had free wireless.

We tried again this past weekend. Had a regular Indigo booked for our daughter and SIL, and I asked at check-in if she could upgrade them to Jubilee since it was their honeymoon. She didn't even look and just said, "I can put them in Jubilee for another $30/night." We declined.

I just stayed at Bally's about 2 weeks ago. I remarked that we were there for our anniversary and he upgraded us to a Jubilee for nothing. We got married in Vegas on Nov. 10 (always off the next day).

I gave him $20 well after the fact just because.

I must add that the Indigo rooms are horrible.

I've stayed at Ballys over 20 times and always stay in Indigo tower. To the surprise of my host and check in people. I like the elevator location, the proximity to the pool, etc. For this upcoming trip I reserved Jubilee tower and will get some sort of suite upgrade supposedly. That remains to be seen. The only reason I switched it up is that I'm hoping to get a fountain view. Fingers crossed. I spend a lot of time at Sullys, but I could go to either casino, Paris or Ballys just the same. With the remodel of Paris' back bar, maybe that will change as it is just hubbie and I this trip, we plan on going to the Diamond Lounge every night. We stayed at Paris twice, but we didn't like the smaller rooms.

Ugh, this thread doesn't inspire much confidence. I've booked two Indigo deluxe rooms (full price) and was hoping the $20 sandwich could net me reduced resort fees OR an upgrade to Jubilee. What do you think I should do? I don't hear great things about the Indigo.

I've gotten upgraded on a comped room many times...but you either need the luck of the draw with the person checking you in, OR a pre-exisitng relationship with somebody who works at the font desk or the right back office position.

WHAT??!! These rooms were renovated 10 years ago. The decor is neutral, not dated. Granite counters in bath & on desk. Same size as Jubilee tower rooms.
What is so horrible about them?
(Jubilee Tower rooms were 1970s decor prior to reno; pretty sad)

Have stayed in the Indigo Tower NUMEROUS times over the years.Indigo rooms are FINE. Nondescript, perhaps, but just fine! (yes, there are more luxurious accommodations on the strip, but you will pay a pretty penny more!)
The Jubilee Tower rooms were pretty bad before the remodel. Still spacious. always clean, but, yes, the were VERY dated.
We stay at Ballys more than any other for spacious rooms, great location & typically comped!:licklips:
