You think? lol But it's more fun to try to sound like one's totally wired.

Way too many a-holes out there. Way too many. Sad.

But like that insurance ad, about killer sharks in everyone ocean yet we still swim, etc., we still move forward.

I was bartending at a place about 10 years ago. A guy had hit a royal, but didn't have ID to take the winnings , anything over $2500 hand pay, had to have ID. He fired 9 shots and mainly hit TV's, bottles and the bar, but there was a column just behind me and he hit it. This is just a sad event.

People are freakin' nuts. If you were practicing duck-and-cover it was a damn propitious time to do so!

We get all high/mighty thinking we're such a superior brand of nation, that we're not blowing each other up by the dozens in suicide bombings, yet ...

my buddy just told me that the guy wanted to see what it looked like inside, so they let him walk in and check it out. He came back and paid cover then went back in. A few minutes later he comes out and said it wasn't what he thought it was and demanded his money back. theres a little more to the story. freakin people.

This is a strange story. Really sucks that someone had to lose their life over a measly few dollars. People pull weapons over the stupidest things, i will never understand it.

You need to update your sources, the data has changed, dramatically. That data represents Las Vegas at it's worst (2005-2006). In 2011 the crime rate has dropped some 30% since those figures and is right at the US National Average for the city of Las Vegas. And the Strip is what brings up the entire valley, as it has the worst statistics. If you click on Henderson where families live, not vacation you'll see that living in that area is no different than any other suburb in america.

Even using your data if you scroll down, you'd see that Vegas is higher in almost every category than the US average. Using Henderson as an example I don't think is fair. How many tourists visit Henderson? Unless the topic was posted in "Living in Sin City" then I would have a different answer and would agree with your example.

Seems violence in and around Vegas nightclubs is on the uptick. No doubt the big casino corporations are making money off these venues - but at what price?

I'm in my early 30s - have never and will never step foot in a Vegas night club. Guess I go for what Vegas used to be - gambling, food and shows.

Very sad what happened. Could have been any of us Vegas and Ballys visitors caught in that crossfire.

    What RIO shooting?

Remove - somebody posted something with RIO in title. Appears Sonya/Admin deleted false posting.

its Ballys casino shooting at Drais after hours night club. Around 4:30AM this morning , a patron paid for cover to get in. What ever he saw after getting inside the club he went to manager for refund of cover charge. They did not give to him and he pulled a hand gun. Few guys jumped on him and one of customer who also get into the action got shot and died while couple security officials got shot with injury. seems like it could have been avoided for few dollars...

Those stats show Chicago as being safer then Vegas. Id walk Vegas at all hours. Most of Chicago I wouldn't dare walk at night.

Its not uncommon in other parts of the country to have metal detectors and pat downs as a pre condition for entry into some of these clubs. Its for everyones safety.

If you are going to invite certain crowds you have to plan for such things to happen and be proactive. Just because its a stodgy ballys does not mean it wont draw in a seedy element.

I would not be shocked to see security measures such as these in the future.

Keep in mind that anyone can easily carry a gun into the casino without a problem, even if the casino has a rule against it. Pretty sure we are not about to see pat downs or scanners at the main casino door anytime soon.
