Thanks for the reminder. Any time someone has money or valuables, there is another someone nearby that will be happy to reduce the burden if there is an opportunity!

And yet virtually none of the hotels have cameras in the hotel hallways. :nono:

That always surprised me. With maids being accused of theft etc. A camera in the hallway would prove who had been in a room without question. It would be easy to tell if a guest was scamming, a maid was stealing or worse, a 3rd party had entered a room.

I,m pretty sure the key cards have a serial number and they can track which key opened the door, I read this on a poker website where a pro had his laptop compromised and they had a printout of all the keys that had entered the room in a certain timespan

This. Every hotel with keycard access has this ability.

I am actually surprised we don't hear a lot more as Vegas is a prime location for this type of stuff. Either they do a great preventing a lot of it or do a great job covering it up.

You're correct, they do. I'm familair with the story you're referring. If you remember, there was some discrepancy originally about who had actually entered the room. The hotel kept telling him it was his roommates card. They had been using the elevator cameras to try and narrow it down. That's actually a perfect example why cameras in the hallway would be a good thing. That whole case would have probably been treated a whole lot different if there was hardcore proof in the beginning who had actually entered the room.
