    Hey board,

Got a question for you - not sure if this makes sense.

In terms of earning points towards tier progression - my plan of attack at The Cosmo is to stuff my face, show my club card while paying, get a copy of the receipt, and take it to the Identity desk for follow-up to ensure points get added. Example: I spend $60 on food, x 5 point multiplier = 300 estimated Identity points earned.

    • At the end of my trip, if I want to see about comping food on the backend, and they say "sure!" - do I lose those 300 points that I earned on my initial purchase?

    • Additionally, if I do a lot of gaming and eating at The Cosmo for 2 days, but am not staying there this trip, can I inquire about backend comps at the end of my gaming day, or does that only apply if you're a hotel guest?

    Thanks!

I'm not following how you would get a backend comp if you're not staying there. If I'm not staying at a place I'm playing, I ask for a comp after playing and before eating.

You do not earn points on comped meals.

    Vetsen, thanks for the reply!

I was unsure if I could get a backend comp without staying at a property, so that is good to know.

In the event that I purchase the food initially & earn points on said purchase, do those points then get rescinded if backend comps are applied?

If you're not a hotel guest you've already paid for your meal as opposed to a room charge. They're not going to give you cash back or reverse a credit card charge. If you're doing a bunch of gaming and NOT staying there then you'd want to ask about a comp to go eat before you actually go eat. You'd need to talk to a host for that. Identity desk won't be able to do much. If your play warrants I'm sure a host would be willing to write a comp within reason.

Thanks Bayou, that makes sense regarding the backend comps.
Sounds like it is similar to my local Indian casino where I can (potentially) get comped food depending on rate of play.

Thank you for the info! :)

You do NOT have to stay there to get comps.

But, they can not comp you something that you already paid for.

To get comps you either go get a comp slip from a host or charge to a room - and of course you do not have a room to charge it to.

I would say this is similar to just about any casino. They can not comp something you already paid for.

    Yes and yes.

If you are staying there and have hotel spend, they will back out both tier credits and the reward-credit equivalent points.
    Example:
You do $5000 coin in on slots and earn 2000 tier credits and 2000 Identity Points ($20 worth of freeplay or resort credit) from it. Then you go eat and charge $60 to the room. That accumulates 300 tier credits and 300 Identity Points ($3 worth of resort credit).

If they back end comp the restaurant bill by reversing the charges, they will back out the 300 tier credits and 300 Identity Points.

If you're not staying there and you do $5000 coin in on slots, you'll earn 2000 tier credits and 2000 Identity Points. You may have accumulated about $150 in comp value, but you will have to go to the Identity Desk to find out how to utilize it. I've never done that at Cosmo, so I don't know what their process is.
In this case, you're going to get a voucher or something. You won't get any additional points for spending that voucher, but they won't subtract any from the points you earned from gambling, either.

Also, if you accumulate Identity Points from gambling, you can spend those points anywhere in Cosmo restaurants or stores. Just hand them your identity card and say you want to pay with points. Although, you should ask the host on duty or your personal host first for a comp slip, then you don't have to spend your earned identity points and the comp is extra. If the HOD says no to a meal comp slip, you can always use the earned comp, i.e. Identity points

Also if you're Sterling or higher don't forget you have a point multiplier when playing slots which is good for spending or free play but realize that tier points are still only 1x. And spending your points doesn't effect your tier progression.

If you happen to have a FP offer from the Cosmo but are staying elsewhere you can still use the FP there.

You could gamble a bunch, then go to the "host on duty" desk and ask if he can throw you some buffet coupons.. I have done that at other properties

If you gamble enough at Cosmo, a host WILL come find you..
Case in point..over our Christmas trip..we were staying at geezers and we played each day at Cosmo...after the second day, a host came and introduced herselfx and offered us $400 to STK.
same thing happened on our last trip..we were staying at linq but gambled a day at Cosmo..host came and gave us $75 to Holstien's...very generous if you ask me...NEVER had that happen ANYWHERE else.

Back with a bundle! (OF CASH!)

Very import post. This is also true with rooms. If you book your room on Expedia or something, play like a mad man, you are still stuck paying for your room. the best a casino might do is refund your resort fee, since that is paid to the hotel directly by you.

Rule of thumb, if you payed out of pocket... you are shit out of luck.

My host at Treasure Island can comp me a meal when I'm staying elsewhere. If my play justifies it that is. I just cant pay, eat, and tell her what I did. But i can play, find her and ask for a couple buffets.
