    My Trip Report

Just kicking off my second solo Vegas trip this year, the first time I have taken two vacations to Vegas in a year. Not much different planned for this one - 4 nights at the Cromwell, spa day at Canyon Ranch, and lots of lots of standing at the craps tables hoping to have a nice hour long roll.

Flight was on points and room is comped, with the hope I can hit diamond to wipe out the resort fees. Was supposed to have $100 FP but after a call this week I was bumped up to $200 FP and $50 credit for food. Couldn’t get a seat comped for today at the sports book but the FP and RC will do in it’s place.

Flight is leaving at 615 and the first win of the trip - there were 2 people in front of me at the security screening.

Will try to update in more real-time this trip but I make no promises.

    Enjoy!

As someone who's never been solo how do you think it compares against going with friends/ a significant other? I worry I'd get lonely haha

Check in and in the room. They had the room ready pretty early for me so that was nice. Walked around a bit and dropped some cash in various slots. Nothing major hit but helps my own. Been up since about 1am Vegas time and it’s 1100 AM now so time for a nap.

I like doing Vegas solo and being on my own schedule. This might be my last solo visit however as my gf has expressed interest in coming with me next time. She has never been, and as long as it is just her and I, I think that would be fine.

Good luck and enjoy your trip, hope you find some money and bring it home.

As someone who normally goes solo, I can say to me its much better but yes, you can get lonely. Last year my best friend and my now ex gf went with me and it was not to fun. I am going in 2 weeks and its just myself and my best friend, interested in seeing how it goes.

Dealing with a little illness this morning after going to bed at like 9pm local time last night. Yesterday was a pretty good day. Well, better than pretty good. I will let the pictures speak for themselves

The picture of the ticket was from the piggy bank lock it link game. Didn’t hit anything huge but hit a lot of bonuses consistently. Oh, and this all started from $100 in free play.

Sorry for the lack updates. The gambling has been fantastic (up 2000 the first night) but the illness I mentioned has caused me to change my plans and I am flying home tomorrow night, a full two days earlier that I had planned. If this wasn’t Thanksgiving week, I could have managed but since my doctor won’t be available until Monday if I don’t get in to see him Wednesday, I had to change my plans to get home tomorrow night. Hopefully the luck continues, gambling wise, for the next 20 ish hours until I have to leave.

Thought I should do a proper write up now that I am in recovery mode from my trip - and not the normal Vegas recovery, but a recovery from illness that I will explain.

    DAY 1:

So, kicking off the trip on Sunday (11/24) morning, I woke up with a little pain in my rib cage area which I chalked up to soreness after spending all day Saturday cleaning and packing before I left (turns out that wasn't it). Got the car all loaded up and my gf dropped me off at the airport about 430 or so for my 615 flight. Almost no one in the security line and I breezed right through (win #1 of the trip). Time comes to board and my side is hurting a bit more but the flight is only about half booked so I get an entire row to myself (win #2) which is very unusual. As we are in the air my side is hurting more and more to the point that when we land I go in to the bathroom at the airport to take a look and my side is really red just under my armpit. Ok, that's weird but I assume that maybe I bruised my side somehow or even pulled a muscle that would cause it to bruise. Get to the hotel (Cromwell) and checked but the room would not ready for a bit which is not that unusual at 815 AM. Walked around a bit getting a new card, playing some games at the LINQ which netted me a loss of about $20 for the three hours while I waited for the room. I was still in pain but had popped some ibuprofen so that helped a lot.

Got to to the room and took another look at my side and now the discoloring was becoming more focused, and more red.I showered and went down to play some craps for a while (won $50 over a 3 hour period) and headed back upstairs to rest a bit. Took a nice 2 hour nap, cleaned up and hit the floor again with a plan for another round of craps. But first I went to the cage to get my free play. At the Cromwell, if you opt for FP on the slots they give you certificates worth $20 each to put in the machines as the FP since they don't have the machines and cards linked where they can load the cards with the FP. Strange but it all works. Put my first $100 in an Autumn Moon game and playing 5 cent denom at $1.25 a spin hit for $490. Eventually cashed that ticket out at $500 and moved over to the Piggy Bankin' lock it link type game. Put in $100 of the other winnings and got one bonus which was pretty decent (no pic) but hit a LOT of great line hits to the point I cashed that one out at $650.

Decided I needed a drink so I moved to the center bar area and tried my hand at the video poker there. They are not great machines there but I didn't really care at that point. Playing the Triple Double Bonus Poker (I think) I was dealt two fours and held them only to luck in to the other two fours with a kicker for $500.

I am up about $1700 by this time all off the $100 FP so I decided to mot push my luck anymore on the machines and headed back to the craps table. Bought in for $700 and cashed out at $1000 for the session when I realized it was almost midnight and had been going on 2 hours sleep already and the ibuprofen was starting to wear off. Hopped over to In-N-Out and got something to take back to the room. Was finally able to get to sleep around 130am after finding a comfortable position to sleep in with my side still hurting.

Dang... wonder what’s going on with your side. I always think my ailments will magically resolve themselves once at land at McCarran... sadly, though the adrenaline helps, they never do.

    Day 2:
Woke up around 6AM in pain again and by now, the area affected was clearly focused and starting to form a bump on my rib cage. Called my doctor, sent him a picture and he recommended to go to an urgent care and have them look first hand. Found a local one and after a minimal wait, the PA there said I likely had an infected sweat gland. What the hell? Ok, what can you do about it? He said he would give me antibiotics but at this point it likely needed surgical intervention. Called my doctor back and explained that I was in Vegas and asked what options I had. He said he would call back and about 20 min later he called and told me if I could get home by Wednesday morning, one of the surgeons he knew would come in. Otherwise I had to go to the ER when I came home, or wait until Monday (today) to get it taken care of because of the holiday weekend. Told him I would let him know in the morning (Tuesday). Got back to the hotel and had to think about what to do but, in the meantime, I had an appointment for a massage, facial and straight razor shave at Canyon Ranch. When I got there I explained the situation and asked if I could cancel the massage with no penalty. They were very nice and went ahead and let me do that, which they absolutely didn't have to and could have charged me for not cancelling 24 hours before hand.

Anyway, had a decently relaxing day once I loaded up on ibuprofen and enjoyed the facial and shave. Back to the hotel to relax a bit while I thought more about how to handle the medical issue. After talking to my gf, I decided to come home early and get it taken care of here. Dealt with SWA to get the flight changed from Thursday to Tuesday night. That was not cheap but better than having something go wrong while in Vegas and having to go to the emergency room there. Decided since this was my last night in Vegas now, I would go all out and enjoy it. Barring a catastrophe at the tables/machines, I would be going home with more than I came with because of the early departure. Showered and went down to the casino floor for a bit before heading over to over to Gordon Ramsey Pub and Grill for dinner. Well, my luck kept up. Put $100 in the same Autumn Moon from the night before and hit a number of bonuses and cashed out at $500 before I left the casino. game and hit a bonus Could not decide on what to get so the bartender recommended the Braised Short Ribs. It was an excellent choice, would def have again. Actually saved room for desert and had the Sticky Toffee Pudding. Wasn't sure about that one but it was amazing. I would def recommend it if you are on the fence.

After that fantastic meal, paid for with RC as part of the promo I was on for the trip, I decided to gamble a bit at Caesars, mainly because it was incredibly windy and cold that night and I wasn't ready to go back out in to that yet. Sat down at another Autumn Moon game playing $.10 denom and $2.50 a spin and a few spins in had shit on the screen when the buzzer went off like I had hit the bonus and then a message I had never seen before appeared "Random Major Jackpot Won" for $515. The women sitting next to me said she had never seen that either and I can't find anything online where people mention it. Cashed that out at $700 after a free spin bonus and moved to another lock it game, the top hat one and well, you can probably guess what happened.

I headed back to Cromwell to play some craps again. Bought it for $1000 this time because why not and played aggressive for a while. Was down $350 pretty quickly doing that but we finally got a hot roller on the table and she got me to a point I was up $100 after 3 hours so I decided to call it there and head to bed. Forgot I still had $100 in FP certificates and not knowing how I would feel in the morning, I put them in to a dragon type game my dad loves but I never have any luck on...well.

Headed back up to the room to pack and pop another round of ibuprofen and try to sleep.

    Day 3:
As per normal for this trip, woke up with my side hurting but determined to deal with it until I had to go to the airport. Headed downstairs to try and figure out where to eat for my last meal in Vegas for this trip and decided on Hash House in the LINQ since I was not in the mood to walk very far still in pain. No waiting if I sat at the bar so chose that option and had the Meatloaf Hash which was excellent. Putzed around LINQ, Flamingo, and Cromwell until I checked out (at the last minute in case I needed the room) and hit one more bonus for the trip on the Huff n Puff game. While not as good as the previous days, it was still a nice bonus on the way out. By this time I needed to be at the airport and the last win of the trip, it was an almost full flight but the middle seat between me and the person on the window was empty. Had major turbulence on the flight home and massive crosswinds on the landing but made it home in one piece.

In my opinion, feeling lonely is not the biggest concern being solo, losing my shirt on tilt is.

Followup - went to the surgeon on Wednesday and he said the original diagnosis was wrong and it was not an infected swear gland but a sebaceous cyst that had probably been there for a while but something caused it to flare up and had I not had it addressed it could have ruptured and caused more issues. I will spare you the details but he addressed it and the pain was gone immediately. I have been recovering for the last few days and doing well now but pissed that it couldn't wait a week to flare up and not ruin my Vegas trip.

Minus the pain, and leaving early, this was a fantastic gambling trip. I cannot remember the last time I had this much consistent luck. There was not a gambling session, outside the first one Sunday, where I lost money. Now, had I been there two more days like I planned, the story might have been different, but as it stands this was easily my most successful trip to Vegas.

Glad all worked out well for you. Nice to come home a winner. It's what keeps us coming back. I'm sure you've already been planning (at least in your head) when you'll be able to get back to Vegas again.

You handled that medical issue really well by consulting with your doc and following through at the Urgent Care, then arranging surgeon appt. I would have been on the next plane home, I’m such a wuss. Glad all turned out well, and thanks for holding back on the gory details  (my wild imagination, lol).

Loved seeing the various wins and great commentary, wasn’t sure how the story would end.
Congrats on those wins especially nice when it all started with the Free Play.

Sorry about the cyst flare up but you did the right thing in going home early to take care of it. You left a winner and Vegas owes you a do over!

I wasn’t aware a random major could be awarded. Now I want one lol

Sorry about your shortened trip, but I know you're glad it wasn't anything more serious.

Just out of curiosity, how was your stay at The Cromwell (otherwise)? I've considered staying there but imagined it to be noisy, being that close to the street. Rooms look cool, but haven't had anybody's review that I could trust.
