    My Trip Report

I'm not a long winded composer so I'll categoraize and hit the highlights:

Arrived Thurs evening and out Sunday late afternoon.

Hoped to meet up w/ LV Lady and hubby but their last minute trip and ours missed by a day. :rolleyes2:

Hotel/Dining - finally decided on the Mirage (versus the Wynn) based on a deal too good to turn down. We really liked the new rooms, STACK, JAPONAIS, and our fave the CPK and the Caribe Cafe for breakfast. The hotel although still very nice is showing her age a bit...you could hear the pipes groaning sometimes in the early morning when someone used hot water and the HVAC was a little noisy but nothing so bad that I'd not stay there again...still one of the top 5 resorts in Vegas IMO.

Entertainment - LOVE...probably the best show we've seen in Vegas. Excellent acting, awesome music and sound system and the whole pre-show vibe was like a concert. They serve drinks in the lobby  The B-bar in the High Limit area is a great secret (as far as I can tell) because we were the only ones that used it. Very laid back and excellent service and you "don't" have to be playing their to go in and enjoy a quiet drink.

Gaming - in a nutshell, the BEST trip we've ever had and we've had a few good ones. We play mostly VP and then Pai Gow when we want a more social game. I hit a $2k RF, $4K RF and 4 Aces w/ a 3 kicker on 50cent TDB for $2K (it dealt it to me:confused2:) and my wife hit a Progressive RF at the Sports Bar for $6,500+. Absolutely amazing....I "almost" :)poke:) felt guilty towards the end or felt like some suits were gonna come from the "back room" and want to know how we were constantly beating their machines:nono:....probably never have a trip like this again.

I see a huge change in the customer service in Las Vegas. "Everyone" from the maids (these ladies work hard, don't forget to tip them daily!) to the bellman to the people working the tables and restaurants. They "know" you have a choice and thank you for choosing thier hotel...quite a (good ) change from a few years ago from my experience.

We loved the Encore....very intimate casino but both the Encore and Wynn were a bit quiet compared to the Mirage Casino. We didn't eat at SINATRA (came highly recommended by MESA) but it looked like a very kool place...I know Frank would like to see me again:ssst:

Excellent non-stop flights out of ORF on SW....they are the best airline (for price, schedule and customer service) hands down IMO.

Hope you enjoyed the TR...I know we sure enjoyed the trip! - Dino

Yea.. I was glad we liked it too, as you know I've whined about the remodel at every given chance..lol I still liked the orig decor better. The remodel has some nice touches: STACK, JAPONAIS, the Flat Screens (in your room and all the bars) but the new look is a bit bi-polar where the orig design flowed much better and carried that tropical look and feel so well.

My wife and I both stayed at the Mirage this weekend as well and thought the vibe/service was outstanding.

For what its worth, we also made out well gambling, although we stick to slots. Sounds like they were on top of their game this weekend looking to impress!

    You know I'd love too!

Becky...you're a VP player too so you know about bankrolling different games to give yourself a reasonable shot at winning. I played the other wins up and down for a few hours each but I just got (very) lucky hitting the TDB. We were on our last few hours in town and I thought what the heck and decided to piss away $100 giving it one last shot. I had only put that $100 in and was actually up to $155 when the 4OAK Aces w/ the kicker hit.

John, you did not try Sinatra,I am deeply upset:thumbsup: Always tough to fit things into a schedule in Vegas. I did not hit any wins last time at Mirage. Good for you

Yes...we always try to primarily play where we stay to maximize the comps..plus we're lazy..lol It's just easier to walk out of your elevator in the AM, grab a coffee and start playin!

The big progressive my bride hit was at the VP Sports Bar right outside of the Sports Book by the CPK. They call it a qtr machine and progressive pot but max coin-in on those games is 10 so it's really a 50cent machine.

Isn't it something how that elusive royal flush can show up all at once? Feast or famine. I'm still on the famine side, but I know that if I live long enough, the law of averages will work out.

Great trip for you and your wife. I'm glad the scales tipped in your favor.

lol...I'm thinking Sept at the latest.. Mid summer at the earliest:wink2:

I'm hoping the Mirage will be anxious to re-coup some of that $$ and offer the same great deal for a return trip. Either that or they'll take me off the list and tell the host to "take that lucky SOB out of our database!!" :poke:

Congrats on your wins. I am new here. Saw that you had posted about the Mirage Suite's. Did you end up staying in those rooms? I have one booked for May and was looking for some feedback. Thanks and congrats again!!!!

Ski, we did not. I asked but they were all full during our dates. From my conversation w/ our host, I got the impression that particualr suite (the "Mirage Suite") was built in limited quantity at the hotel.

We stayed in a Tower Deluxe room which honestly for as little time as we spent in the room, was just fine.

I would love to stay in one of those suites sometime though....be sure to post a TR and let us all know how the room was:thumbsup:
