    My Trip Report

My weekend that just passed, hope someone finds it interesting.....

Got there late, prolly around 11-1130pm, maybe 12, by then, i was too sleepy to remember. We marched in the Tropicana, and hit the slots. Garfield made me a happy man, 20 in, 100 out, sweet. Continued walking around, hitting various machines. I think around 2 or so, I said I needed to eat. Only place open at the Trop was some sandwich bar thing, lined up like no ones business. Said forget it, and decided to march on down the boardwalk. Had some guys wanting to push us in a covered cart thing, passed on that and walked in the wind and rain to Trump. First impression was, tacky, gaudy, ewwww. Walked around, played some slots, nothin very exciting so off we went to the next closest place, caesars. Pretty much what I pictured a caesars place to be. Roman, arches but didn't see any togas. Again, hit some slots, walked most of the casino floor, and proceded to the wild west casino. Thankfully, they were all kinda close together, so not much rain. Wild west casino was fun, themes, anamitronics, water was a nice touch. Scott played some kinda game, 4 card poker or something like that. He sat down, got a full house, and thus went back to his starting buy in over the course of many hands. Then decided to hit Ballys. Let me say first that we walked through every casino, wearing our coats and carrying our bags, and no one said a a thing. Enter Ballys, and get told pretty much right away that we needed to check our bags. Walked to the check-in place, 50 cents per bag charge. Played some slots, almost fell asleep, and went for a walk to stay awake. Almost got beaten by security for entering a slot area where they were emptying the machines, that was fun. Walked back to Wild west, and then fugured that if we were leaving, might as well get our bags. Oh yeah, we went looking at the El Do for a place to stay, but they were full and the door was locked, so we couldn't even get in to talk to the guy. Oh well. Went back, got the bags, and proceded to walk as far as we could back indoors. Nice of them to join Wild/Ballys and caesars. Quick run to Trump. walk through and then a very wet, windy walk to the Trop. Almost so tired that at one point thought of letting the wind just blow me away, but leaned forward and almost shattered the door as we entered the Trop because of the wind. Security gaves us some eyes, and in we went. Walked to the country kitchen hoping they were open, 6am and they open at 7. Start to walk back to the trop, and scott goes into the days in. They have 1 room, double beds, so to the room we go. That was a tough hour staying awake, wanting so bad to sleep and/or eat at the same time. Snored a little, woke up and it was 5 to 7. Waited right untill 7, and went down. Ate some breaky and felt much better. Back to the room, and dropped dead. Remember this was about 8am Saturday, and I was up at 5am Friday. Woke up at 1230pm or so, showered and stuff, and hit the Trop again. Wondered around, I decided i wanted to play craps, Scott went and hit some slots. Bought in for $100 at a $10 table, played pass line and odds only. Did I mention this was my first time playing craps?? Got some free 'BEER'(plus $1 tip) and lost it. Another $100, and did better, finally through the dice, made some people very happy, and 7 out, they raised the limits to $15, and I stayed. Lost it all again, but left myself a $5 chip to tip the dealers as they helped me out, some more than others, but whatever. Walked around again, hitting slots, winning here and there. Oh yeah, again, we got Scott's slot cards around 2 or 3pm, 2 of them, and used them every chance we had. Hit Hooters for lunch, 10 free wings with the coupon in the slot club book. Saw some Hooters girls in black shirts and shorts. Soon found out they were pregnant, found that a little odd, enjoyed our food and scenery and left. Scott hit the poker room, got on the list and got his poker card and was in playing in about 10-15 minutes. I walked around, hit and ran some slots, won enough to justify another go at the dice. Found a $10 limit table, and jumped in. About the same results, some stick persons better than others, but managed to lose it all again. Made some other people lots of money with my uncanny skill at throwing 8's. I now know the importance of buying the 6 and 8. Left a couple bucks for the dealers, played it on the pass line and won, very greatful they were. Walked around again, watching some high limit games, people watching and casually playing slots. About 10pm, i hit the wall and went back to the room and fell asleep. Woke up when Scott came back, $100 buy lasted 3-4 hours. Both crashed out, and woke up in the morning, damned time change. Went and checked out our comps, had about $20, so used it at the cafe. Ate breaky, tip and $3.61 for breaky, not bad. Met up with the other 2, played some more slots, and left for our 9+hour drive back.

I'm exhausted. Glad you didn't fall asleep driving home. ;)

Me too! I'm sorry you didn't like Trump Plaza. I always go there to gamble when in AC. I think they comp well.

What I don't understand about your report was you didn't have a room reserved ahead of time? You just got there and hoped for the best?

You missed the best place to play craps in AC. Claridge casino is also connected to Ballys/Wild Wild West/Caesars, at the north end. It's actually owned by the Caesars empire, and is called Ballys now, although if you tell a taxi driver Ballys you'll go to one door, and they sure know where you mean if you tell them Claridge.

If you didn't like Trump Plaza, I highly recommend you never go to Trump Taj Mahal. The Taj is much more gaudy and gauche than the Plaza.

VegasKathy, yes, no hotel reservations, it was indeed a spur of the moment kinda thing. Hoped that staying awake and finding a room on Saturday with the bad weather wouldn't bee a hard thing to do. Also, didn't think of getting a slot card at the Plaza as walking and the weather pretty much guaranteed that we wouldn't be back over there. The only place I would have cabbed to was the Borgata.

Coaster Kikky, thanks, I figure that most of the Trump places would be the same, except for maybe the Marina. Seems like they are going for a different sort of crowd their, judging from their website.

Hope, Trump Plaza seems to be going for the "regal" look while the Taj spins for "exotic" (the carpet is the most purple thing I've ever seen in my life!). I've not yet been in the Marina but their advertising is skewed to the "hip" feel. The exterior of the Marina alone is scary enough for me! The building looks very old. I'm happy to stick with Borgata (tomorrow night actually!)
