Have only been to Aruba on cruise port calls but love that happy island and can't wait for a real vacation there (20th anniversary or bust, lol). Dream plan is to stay at Renaissance for a night or two and then head to the resort area for the rest of the week.

[IMG]so we stopped at Chrystal Casino, won $380 playing 3 card poker then went to find wife. She was playing quick hits again so I put a $20 in machine next to her and hit 8 quick hits after 4 or 5 spins for $5000. Best day by far that I've ever had.

So jealous of all of you! I've been twice, both in the summer, and really enjoyed it. Can't get a winter timeshare exchange, but I'm going back in May. Pay tables are poor, but the Balashi is good and the casinos aren't he main focus anyway. Awesome place to just kick back and relax.

Awesome start to the trip. If you want a nice splurge, arrange the private dinner on the beach at the Hyatt called Pampered in Paradise. If you do, ask to have Felix as your waiter.

Amazing hits! I play those and can never hit more than 5 quick hits. Great start to your trip.

Great start on a small investment! I'm in the group of those who also have only seen Aruba on day trips via a cruise, but I always keep my eye on the rates at the RIU myself. Enjoy!

Trigger, through an Aruba group on Facebook, I ran across a lady from the states who helps people rent out their timeshares. Riu website wanted $3900 for a 1 bedroom, I got 2 BR, 2 BA timeshare for $2500 which I thought was great deal, if u r interested in my contact, pm me and I'll get it to you

Today's gambling update is not as memorable as yesterday. We walked the high rise area and stopped briefly in most of the casinos with no big wins but no huge losses either. Big win of the day was spending 4 hours on Renaissance Island enjoying the beach and wild life. Might pop down to Riu casino tonight before bed. Have a two hour Segway tour planned for tomorrow that I'm really looking forward to.

its sunday, spent the entire morning at the beach, just came back to room. last two days gambling hasn't been so good. probably dropped $800 or so last two days, hope to turn it around tonight. did win some cash betting the Chiefs yesterday.

have noticed security people not wanting any pictures taken at all in casinos. when i hit the 5 grand, i kind of shielded them and handed my phone to my brother, only way i can see to get pictures. as i said before, most of the casinos are pretty small. we made our way to the northern resorts and the casinos were much nicer at the marriott stellaris and the ritz carlton.

one thing for sure, these aruban people love to play them some bingo. its very weird but they might play bingo for two hours and there aren't enough seats so all the slots around the bingo area are full of people just sitting there with their bingo sheets.

once again, will try to get some pics at some point of casinos. find myself not thinking all that much about gambling but enjoying the weather.

its monday, still trying to decide who i'm betting tonight for the championship game. i hate alabama so much that it would be very hard to root for them. didn't gamble a bunch last night but did manage to hit quad nines playing ultimate texas hold em over at the orchid casino. it is in the old westin hotel which is now part of the riu family, is right next door to the riu palace which is where we are staying. they have a nice promotion going giving you $50 free slot play for signing up, no strings attatched. not based on play or loses, just 50 up front. other than that, not much to report. was lucky enough to see a lady down at the beach about a half hour ago who was every bit of 300 pounds in a thong, so i got that going for me!

Gambling has went to shit, at least I saw this tonight. Trying to figure out just how many 5 card 21s a dealer can pull each night.

Sucks that the gambling has cooled off. $50 for signing up is a pretty sweet deal though!
