And I am self admittedly a room snob - unless you’re in a Villa, the Sky Suites panoramic is about the crème de la crème, at least until the Mansion rooms are done, and then the SkyLofts at MGM, but that will be a while.
These really have the “modern high rise in a big city" aesthetic Decent looking, but not very Vegas like. Similar to the Four Seasons
hey everyone thanks so much for the replies. Posted the same thing on Vegas subreddit and got no replies. I think I’ve settled on the sky suite penthouse strip view. I agree with those who replied regarding corner tower suite being inferior to the sky suite. Had a corner tower suite in November 2023, it felt way more worn than the Skysuite I just had last month. Was also not as clean. Then the walk itself was unbelievably far from elevators. I liked the separate elevator bank of Sky Suites, clean and modern room, being up high (was on 53rd floor and I believe sky suites are at a minimum 20 something?). So basically I’ve figured since Corner Suite is my minimum which is shockingly only $100 or so a night more than base, I figure $230/night more for SS is worth it to me. A few questions: 1) believe the Penthouses have a larger separate dining area, whereas the base skysuites like what I had last month have the table in the living room. Is that correct? 2) noticed the floor plan on the website attached refers to 1100 sqft average but the site description shows 1465 so I’m confused on that. But the floor plan shows the windowed bathroom. So what’s the real difference for Penthouse and non Penthouse rooms? 3) I have watched some videos of skysuites and saw these, can you all confirm these are Penthouse 1BR? Also if you recognize a layout and know the room # that’d be useful! A - https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZP8LogfeJ/ window bathroom weird bedroom layout, large separate dining area. B - https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZP8LobDEn/ matches the floor plan attached, appears to be Mountain View but not sure if this layout exists for strip view. Dining table is sort of separate but closer to living room. Window bathroom. C - https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZP8LosVKL/ - this one looks massive, a real big separate dining room and huge bar. Appears to have steam shower so I think a strip view, bathroom is NOT windowed. The bathroom looks similarly placed to the bedroom as my base Mountain View sky suite I had which I think is shown here. 4) finally, are the “penthouse” rooms spread out on each floor of skysuites? What’s the lowest sky suite floor? thank you all, this board is great as I’ve become quite fond of Vegas!
I watched video “A” and this is the room I was just in. It is a one bedroom penthouse strip view. We had room number 50-036. The bedroom is a little odd with the tv on the pillar, a bit tight to walk in front of, I found myself walking around the back side of the bed. I’d still choose this room 100%.
I tend to agree but I stayed in the Delano LOFT during F1 and I have to say those are amazing. There is minor wear and tear but the room is shockingly large and seems a cut above Skysuites PH.
Cool thanks! Yeah that one looks nice. I think all three are good but interesting how much larger some of them are. I suspect the one without windows in bathroom is most common layout. do you know the answer as to whether penthouses are on all floors?
I've never had a window in the bathroom of a Sky Suite Strip View 1BR Penthouse, so I guess I've just been unlucky (although I usually stay in 2BR, so my sample size of 1BRs isn't as big). I believe that all of the Penthouse rooms have a proper dining table, but in the the non-strip-view 1BR Penthouses it is in a space shared with the main living area. My understanding is that the non-strip-view Penthouses originally were't designated as Penthouses and were later reclassified, which is why they don't have the totally separate dining area and steam showers. I'm pretty sure that the website definition of 1345 or 1465 sqft is correct and that the 1100 sqft is only for the non-Penthouses. I've had Penthouses as low as the 20s floors, so I'm pretty sure that they're spread out amongst all of the Sky Suites floors (unlike Bellagio where to some degree "Penthouse" defines rooms on the higher floors).
The origin of the word "penthouse" certainly implies a high floor, but the entire industry has bastardized the term beyond all recognition. I've been on 1st floor "penthouse" suites before. I will say, though, that Vegas is especially bad about obscuring the general hierarchy of rooms to try to market mostly-average suites as being much better than they actually are.
these Vegas hotels already bastardized the meaning of SUITE What would stop them from doing the same to Penthouse?
Here's one of the sky suites 1 bed penthouse suites I've been in Room 26-036 Yup. A "penthouse" in a lower floor The layout is a bit awkward for the bedroom as it's in the corner Window in bathroom, not as big as some other versions
The other upside for the property is that they can use the additional categories to give upgrades with marginal benefits. *ahem* stay well *ahem* This is partly why I find the Vegas hotel market so interesting.
Once upon a time, hotels had one penthouse suite on the top floor. Now, they are calling 400sq foot rooms “suites” if they have a sofa in them…
