Both pools are nice. MGM pool is much larger, has a lazy river.
Aria pool is more expensive in every way simply because it's the Aria. Aria pools are nicer IMO. Especially the SkyPool. They come around with various refreshments.

I greatly prefer MGM's pools (that lazy river!). Aria's pools are nice, but they're just your standard 3.5 foot Vegas pool with people standing around and drinking in them. That being said, the atmosphere at Aria seems to be a little more relaxed than MGM.

As for the price of beer and drinks: super expensive no matter where you are.

I have only spent time at Aria's pool in December using the heated pools outside the buffet area. The large pools looked pretty standard to me like they were missing something character wise. Like the Mirage pool for example has a couple of waterfalls and inlets etc.

When we entered the pool area they "frisked us" for outside drinks etc and it was December and there was no bar open at the pool.

The Mirage on the other hand lets you bring food and drinks into the pool as long they sell it at The Mirage. So you can walk in with a couple of beers or you can get one of those big Mirage Cups and mix a big drink and walk in with it. I basically would go out to the casino and get a beer or mixed drink and pour it into a plastic up and walk back in.

Really like Aria's pool. We had a cabana and the atmosphere was great. We didn't do the party pool because we were after a quieter experience, but we could hear them and it sounded fun, if that's what you're going for. Don't remember exact drink prices but over $20 for those large "pool" drinks and like $35 for a bucket of beer.

Aria's pool is really great, the atmosphere is a bit quieter, and yes, on the down side drinks can be pretty expensive!

Aria pools are nice and somehow quiet, unless... check if Liquid is open. This is the day club that has a lot of sound spill over to the other areas at the pool. It was pretty annoying last summer as you can hear the liquid music and pool music in a sort of cacophony.

Are non Mandalay guests allowed to use the lazy river pool even for a fee?

MGM much bigger and lots more going on with the Lazy river, ect.. Aria more laid back and relaxing. Depends on what you are looking for.... I will say the lazy river is fun to float around.
    Drinks more expensive at Aria.
