    My Trip Report

Hi Everyone, excitement is reaching fever pitch as we prepare for our annual trip to Las Vegas, leaving tomorrow 7th March for 5 nights. We normally go for at least 7 nights but since son number one arrived it is too hard to leave him for too long (according to my DW Mrs Macattack).

I normally have spreadsheets on the go – this is time is different insofar as I have not overly populated it this time. So far, reservations in Lago for lunch, Carbone for a dinner, and Noel Gallagher concert in the Cosmo.

This will be my third TR, the others can be found here

    https://www.vegasmessageboard.com/forums/index.php?threads/bellagio-23-sept-30sept-irish-30-something-couple-craps-vp-eating-14th-trip-1st-tr.135098/

    https://www.vegasmessageboard.com/forums/index.php?threads/the-mirage-2-bed-penthouse-3-nights-the-wynn-2-nights-bringing-a.140556/

This trip will be mostly VP (with multiple Royals for both me and Mrs M) and lots of craps with rails of chips as Hardways bets are pressed into stratospheric heights. Some slot play will be thrown into the mix, some blackjack, some whatever flashing machines grab our fancy.

We are staying at the Aria for the first time. I have heard great things about it on the board but I am still a bit apprehensive (excited but apprehensive). We love the Wynn and have stayed there numerous times but we are too small fry to get anything good on the comp side – cheap upfront rate, maybe 200 in freeplay, and some back end comps. Since going back to mlife two years ago the comps have been much better both upfront and on the back-end. We both love the Bellagio, the craps tables there and the poker at the sports bar in particular (it is where I love hanging out first thing in the morning for a couple of hours). We have walked through the Aria a few times but never really gambled there and have never eaten there before either. It will certainly feel like a new vacation as we are so unfamiliar with the layout. I considered jumping to the Cosmo and given a good offer but want to really focus my play with mlife and wanted the freedom to go to their other casinos. I stayed in the Cosmo once a few years back and really liked though.

I am going to try and do the TR semi-live – hopefully some good VP porn and maybe some chip porn if the gambling gods allow.

We typically play 50c Bonus Poker, but I am planning on doing more at the $1 level this trip, and also run a few hundred at $5 the odd time when I am feeling lucky. I never venture into the High Limit rooms but will do so for the $5 VP if it means better pay tables. Are high limit rooms looser? Here’s hoping.

With Craps I prefer to play at $10 mins, typically 2-3 times odds, and place 5, 9, 6, 8. Will typically press 1 unit a hit unless I feel things are really hotting up. Will play $15 if that is all that is available. I like to put 2-5 dollars (especially when I am rolling) on the Low, Tall, All, and also a couple of dollars on the Hardways that I will press up initially.

If anyone wants to throw out some suggestions to try in the Aria please do – drinks, food, lucky machines, best bars for VP, best bars for drinks etc. Hoping the CW service will be good too – patience is not one of my virtues.

Hopefully their will be a royal pic coming up tomorrow

Have fun! You will definetly love staying at Aria (it's my homebase, so I am partial to it:)) Pretty much all of the restaurants are great to try, Gem Bar is a nice bar for VP, but a lot of people like the Lift Bar as well, the Lobby Bar is nice to enjoy a drink before going out and about, and if the weather is pretty nice, you can go enjoy the pools too.

Enjoy Noel Gallagher! I’ve seen him a few times. And I saw Liam recently too!

We enjoyed gambling in Aria on our last trip, when we stayed in the Vdara. Think it’s row 802 VP machines in front of Mlife desk that are the best there (someone can correct me if I’m wrong).

And we enjoyed Five50 pizza too!

From a fellow Irish man, good luck!

Dublin Gatwick. Then virgin Atlantic to LAS. Gets in lunchtime Vegas time. 300 Euro return. Bargain of the century!

Javier's is awesome! It is me and my husband's favorite restaurant at the Aria, we eat there every trip... If you like seafood they have this dish called Cabo azul and it is amazing.

Awesome! Aria is one of my favorite properties in Vegas. Aria probably has the most comfortable hotel beds I have ever slept in.

Javier's is great. I like eating at the bar. The margaritas are strong! Try the piña (pineapple) or tamarind margaritas!
Highly recommend slices of pizza at Five50 at Aria.
Lemongrass is open late and has dim sum carts at lunch on the weekends. They can adjust the spice level from 1-10. I like spicy food and 3 almost killed me one day.
The (former Todd English) PUB at Crystals is very decent.
My buddies and I love hanging out at the Lift Bar and people-watching.
I've had some great meals at Julian Serrano, but I think I like Jaleo at Cosmo a bit better. I highly recommend Jaleo. Since Cosmo is so close I recommend China Poblano, Secret Pizza, and Holsteins. Boozy shakes FTW!
Definitely make your way over to Mandarin Bar at the Mandarin Oriental in the evening. The views from the 23rd floor are fantastic. You can reserve tables via OpenTable.

    Good luck!

I think 50's are the devils currency in Vegas!

2 weeks ago, we arrive and check in at Harrah's. My wife opens up the purse to divvy up the bankroll and I fall on the floor when she pulls out a stack of 50's. I immediately went to the cage and cashed them in for 100's before making a single wager.

Came home plus $4,000 for the 3 day trip, so that was a huge good run for my low-rolling ass. (winning $3100 on a single hand with a 4 of a kind in let-it-ride at Fremont certainly helped!).

I will never enter a casino with 50's...

I've left two $50 bills in my wallet since a Vegas trip in September and I've never touched them since on multiple gambling trips to Vegas or elsewhere. The first Vegas trip was my biggest Vegas win by far (~$1500)! And the last Vegas trip, I think I never left a machine net down for the trip...lol

That being said, I never actually played a $50 in Vegas I think!

Very wise move! And congrats to the big win!
About the $50 thing, I absolutely believe it.
It's such a popular belief, and it costs nothing to follow.

Aw, man! I was just trying to get over my fear of 50s and now I’m scared again. My bank is an on line bank so I can’t go in and cash a check. They rebate atm fees so that is all I use. The only thing I can get the atm to spit out is 50s. I used to be able to go into any bank and change them for hundreds but banks now only do that for account holders. Last time I went into the bank I have my business account with but I don’t keep a big balance in there so it seems like money laundering. Guess I’ll just peak their interest when exchanging a few grand.

Here’s to Mr & Mrs Mac attacking the Aria for a bundle. I’ve played there but never stayed. I think I remember doing fairly well. Have a safe, enjoyable and profitable trip. I’ll be following along.

My worst trip last year I had a whack of 50s; next trip I went straight to the cashier to change them so I guess I have bought into the superstition lol
