I didn’t even realize how busy this weekend would be. I had no idea when I booked that it was edc. I guess I got lucky in getting a room. Definitely not looking forward to the edc crowd though. I get asked for money from broke edc goers every time I go during that weekend and it gets old real fast.

I was there once during EDC by coincidence. It was an "interesting" crowd and this was in the days before legal weed. Can't imagine what it's like now.

I've been in Vegas for about 75% of my time since Oct. 2020 staying in hotels. I've heard every weekend is fully booked for a while. That's not possible because the crowds have gone up and down. Lately it's been down. There's no way it's like before the pandemic either. I think it's a case of the marketers driving the story.

The reporting is behind a few months but the numbers are here:
    https://www.lvcva.com/research/visitor-statistics/

    June:
    147777 rooms available
    75.9% total occupancy
    89.4% weekend
    70.9% midweek
    77.3% strip
    66.8% downtown

    July:
    150169 rooms available
    79.4% total occupancy
    88.1% weekend
    74.6% midweek
    81.3% strip
    65.6% downtown

    August:
    150169 rooms available
    72.8% total occupancy
    87.1% weekend
    67.8% midweek
    74.7% strip
    57.6% downtown

Of course a weekend like EDC/Raiders/whatever else is different but there are rooms available. The operators are just taking the opportunity to maximize profit.

I do remember seeing a bunch of barely clad young women during an EDC years ago around

I always thought it was held like in May or June and didn’t realize it was moved to October which is why I was surprised with the rate and looked up what was going on and was oh that’s why!!

I remember long legged young women in bikinis and fuzzy leg warmers parading around (well, actually transiting through) the Four Queens the year I was there. (not for EDC)

You might get lucky with a last minute booking, but generally EDC weekend is a terrible time to go to Vegas unless you're there for EDC.

This time EDC being in October, I wouldn't necessarily bet on the barely clad part outside of the clubs.

That weekend is NUTS, when it was mid June, I used to book it one week after I got back - 358 days in advance, and got a good rate. The pricing for that weekend, was/is about the same as the Consumer Electronics Conf (pre covid) IMO.

Hehe it’s an option. I doubt I would ever stay there, but when you’re desperate…

actually the points conversion is a really good idea. So maybe check to see whatever status you have and hope you can get in!
??? Why do people ask you for money? That’s…weird.

EDC used to be in May/June during the summer, and then they changed it to a later date that wasn’t as hot in 2018 and had their first camping if I recall. But this year is a bit different cuz they had to move it two different times. It’s been a pain for people going. Also, this year is a little different because a lot of people couldn’t go and had to sell tix for way less due to issues with cancelling, moving them, or transferring to next year. It’s been a poop show. If you have any interest whatsoever in attending, this year would be the year to do it cuz tix are about half off - just have to make sure it’s legit. Normally people pay over asking price. Sorry, this is a tangent from original ask, but it’s just to let peeps know:). I’m also worried about the people going this year as I think the vibe will be different, but I feel that way for all festivals now. Good luck!

no idea. It was really bad 2 years ago in the high limit room at Caesars. My mom had to deal with them and security was useless.

Honestly, I only know of it from this website. That type of music is completely off my radar.

Ha, I'm old but kind of like it, though don't seek it out. My girlfriend and quite a few other friends are obsessed with those festivals, though, like EDC, Ultra, CRSSD (which tends to have lesser-known names), Miami Music Festival, etc. I just find it amusing to post up at Lift Bar and watch everyone coming back at 6am while I drink my coffee.

Crssed actually has good DJs. It’s just more focused on house and techno music so not as mainstream, but the people in the scene definitely know who is playing!

Oh, for sure. But it's also much more targeted towards that audience; I only meant that the average Vegas clubgoer, which is also the type of person going to EDC, won't know most of the names.

I do have SiriusXM Chill on quite a bit (with BPM on every now and then, although my go-to is always the Beatles channel), along with Groove Salad on soma.fm, I just never pay attention to the artist names.
