About four years ago I decided to go cold turkey from Zoloft and Depakote. After a month I went bat shit crazy and got back on them.

Since then, when I wake up from a deep sleep and often at other times as well, I get this "pfft, pfft" sound inside the left side of my head.

The doctor says it is blood pressure balancing out. I'm not sure I buy that. Online searches turn up nothing.

Does anyone know what this might be?

    Edit: I also have Tinnitus.

If it's been going on for years, why are you worried now?

Could be part of the tinnitus. Can't imagine what else it could be. Never heard of anyone hearing noises with blood pressure. Sounds like he didn't have a clue and made something, almost believable, up in the hope you'd just accept it.

If your blood pressure is controlled, your risk should be "normal".

I hear tinnitus can also be static sounds and other than ringing.

Take note as to which side of your head you slept on. ( ? )
    You said "left side".
Is it actually "sound" or maybe fluid moving inside your ear canal or sinus.
" I play a doctor on TV"...................that should make my diagnosis more legit !

Does this "pfft-pfft" sound go along with your heartbeat? I assume this is a truly audible sound. Correct?

It's audible only to me. It feels like it is coming from the area below my left eye socket.

It is not in tune with my heat beat.

Good. I know that in some cases, developing aneurysms can be heard as a rushing sound with each heartbeat.

I get goofy noises when my sinuses are acting up. I'd get it checked out though. My right ear is being a jerk right now as a matter of fact. Waiting to get started on my super fav anti fungal nasal spray because I can't handle antibiotics right now for a sinus infection.

Going cold turkey off those 2 meds is a super bad idea btw. Should have taken at least a month, if not 6 weeks to go off them.

I get a sound similar to you pfft sound when I'm getting dehydrated. My mother was the same way and didn't have to feel dehydrated or even thirsty. With medication this could be your issue. I hear that noise I start downing water. Not sure if your cause but hope it helps.
