Back home for a full day now. Slept like a baby last night.

Recap is coming this weekend. Lots of details and some photos to share.

Came home $362 richer than what I took. Bubble Craps and Black Russians couldn’t be stopped.

Easy flight into Vegas. Our plane was delayed approx. 30 minutes, but we made that time up and arrived on time. Crazy how they can do that on a flight of 1.5 hours. The best part of the flight? I had the entire row to myself. I always love flying to Vegas, but this flight was cool in that we chased the sunset almost the entire flight.

Took an Uber from the airport to MGM. Our driver was hilarious. He shared a story about how he was a limo driver a few years back and he picked up Michael Bolton but didn't recognize him. When they were talking and Bolton said who he was, our driver refused to believe he was Bolton because he didn't have "mom hair." He said it was awkward after Bolton started singing and he realized he really was him. Said Bolton was a good sport about it.

Checked into MGM Grand. I was booked for a standard Grand King. I did the $20 trick at the desk and the desk agent hooked me up. My exact wording was "(name redacted), is there any chance you might have something close to the elevator with a view?" He slid the $20 back towards me and asked for a moment. He took my Mlife Pearl Card, Mlife Credit Card and ID and walked over to another desk agent. He came back about two minutes later. "Would a two queen room be ok?" Sure, I said. 5 minutes later, I was in my room on the 28th floor with a view of the strip. MGM was busy all weekend, but you wouldn't know it from my room. I didn't hear anyone the whole weekend and I was the first door down the hallway off the elevator.

Once settled, we walked down to Momofuku for some Pork Belly Buns. First time having those and they were everything they are hyped up to be.

    6zvuXLoHQ4KTO32S2dk4Fg.jpg

Walked back to MGM after wandering Cosmo for a bit. I donked off all my freeplay ($100) on some single payline $1 slot at $2 a spin. Walked away from that with $27.

Spent an hour up at the Lobby Bar playing some of the worst % payback video poker on the strip. Had Al for a bartender and he took good care of us. Hit one 4OAK but ended that session -$40.

Went back to the room around 11pm, but couldn't sleep so I got up and went for a walk over to The Tropicana where I played some $2 Bubble Craps for an hour. Finished that session even and then back to the MGM where I wandered and played a few slots until about 1am with a few small wins. Pocket dump at the end of the night had me at -$57, including food and tips. Low rolling at it's finest.

Woke up about 7am and by 8:30am, GT and I were at Encore thanks to Uber.

We walked Encore and Wynn for a bit before settling on a quick breakfast at The Cafe at Wynn. I had a bacon, egg and cheese croissant and a soda. Breakfast of champions.

After grabbing a bite, we walked through Wynn for a bit before walking back towards MGM.

(Wynn has the best casino bathrooms in Vegas, IMO)

We stopped off along the way to walk through some casinos finally resumed our gaming at Belliago. Played some $5 Bubble Craps for about an hour and I walked away +$30.

**Let me say this about the Mlife policy of not rewarding Bubble Crap players with points...it sucks and it's stupid. I understand you earn some Express Comps rewards (no idea at what rate), but they could easily figure out an equation to reward points. It doesn't need to be the same as slots or video poker. Hell, 1 point for every $50 bet would be fine. I played probably 8 hours of Bubble Craps at Mlife properties this trip with bets ranging from $2 to $25 (and one $100 bet which I'll discuss later) and didn't earn any tier points? Bullshit, IMO. I knew this going in, so shame on me being upset, but it still chaps me days later.

After getting back to MGM around 2pm, I headed upstairs for a quick nap. An hour later, I was rested and ready for the night. We headed out around 4pm and donked around Excalibur for a bit on slots. I had a MyVegas 2-1 at the Buffet there and it wasn't blacked out. We ate there and surprisingly, we didn't get sick. To be fair, the food was fine. Think Golden Corral. The one exceptional thing I had there was the coconut cream pie. We then headed over to Luxor for an 8pm date with Carrot Top . We were early, so we slotted around for a bit before finding some empty seats at their $2 Bubble Craps machine. A guy got hot around 715pm and rolled for almost 30 minutes. I had several small bets that I couldn't pull and I was starting to think we were going to be late. He finally crapped out and I cashed in my ticket for +$84.

Carrot Top was great. I had low expectations going in as all I'd ever seen was his Tonight Show bits, but his show is probably 50-50 between prop gags and stand up. He had some great background music during the show and I left wanting to come back again. We had great seats considering this was another MyVegas 2-1 deal.

After the show, we headed back to MGM and played more video poker and slots. I called it a night a little after 11:30pm. I apparently can't do two late nights back to back anymore, even with a nap. Lame. Pocket dump put me around $-30 for the day including food and tips.

    Saturday 2/1

Oh boy...let's see if I can remember enough about the day, even with the notes I tried to keep in my Day One app.

Headed out from MGM around 8:30am. We grabbed an Uber down to Fremont St. and I had my first negative Uber experience since I started using the app. If you’ve stayed at the MGM, you’ll know that the Uber pickup area is on the second floor of the parking garage. As we walk The Underground, this is where I usually request and confirm the ride. By the time we get to the second floor of the parking garage, our driver is usually pulling in and away we go. I do this for this trip and within seconds, I get a “I’m here” from the driver. I respond back with a “Be right there.” We were on the second floor rideshare area within 90 seconds of my response. No driver. I reply with “I’m here” and nothing...so I glance at the app and see the dot moving around the area of the taxi dropoff area at MGM. After about four minutes, I see our car and driver enter the parking garage. As he (older gentlemen, maybe early 70s) comes to a stop, he throws his hands up while looking at us. I walk to the passenger side rear door and he cracks his passenger window and says my name. I respond with “That’s me!” and he says “Took you long enough!” I brush it off and get in. I ask him how his morning is going and he ignores me and asks me if we’re going to Fremont St. “Yes, sir” He responds with a loud moan (not the good kind...lol) and away we go. As we get onto the freeway, me and GT are talking about where we might eat downtown and our driver turns up the radio and shoots me a sneer in the mirror. So here we are going down the freeway at 60mph and I’m wanting to ask this senior citizen if he has a problem. Crotchety Old Man! I ignore him (for the second time) and we keep talking. He turns the radio down as we exit the freeway. He pulls alongside Binions and says “Here you go.” I thank him for the ride with a third ignore and he’s gone before GT can even make it around the back of the car. Asshole. Rated him two stars since we didn't die and tipped him $1. Since using Uber, I've made a point to tip well and often, I'll tip 100% of the ride, especially the under $10 trips or if someone makes it a good trip. I'd never tipped less than $5 until now. Thankfully, our next trip was better.

This visit downtown was a million times better than the experience last summer. We had breakfast at the Binions café and then set about gambling.

    fullsizeoutput_150d.jpeg
(Those maple syrup cups made an appearance a little later)

I had a few wins on the far right Zodiac Lion and managed to double up my $40 buy in at Binions.

I then got $10 in FP that I was able to turn into another $20 before leaving there. We hit all the casinos and played $20-$40 at each. It was up and down for the most part. At ElCo, we each signed up for a players card and got $10 FP. I was able to convert that into $50.

    fullsizeoutput_1511.jpeg

By the time we got to the Plaza, I thought my total expenses was around $80 for the trip. What I was neglecting (and wouldn't learn until the next morning) was the $100 bill I folded up and put into the pocket behind my DL in my wallet at some during the morning run downtown. It might have had something to do with the Black Russians I was putting away. Anyway, I didn't find this until the next morning.

I played video poker at the Plaza bar top for a solid three hours with just a single $20 buy in. I wasn't slow playing either. Tons of two pair, 3OAK, flushes and one 4OAK (4's) sprinkled in. We had two bartenders while there and I was tipping $2-$3 for each Black Russian and my plastic cup (oh, Plaza!) never got dry for more than a few minutes. Gotta love no light system. At one point when things got quiet, I reached into my jacket pocket and brought out the maple syrup cups from breakfast. I reminded GT of the scene from Super Troopers and we each took a shot which was like sending a sugar laced needle straight into my heart.

At one point, we had a guy try to sell us an altered futures ticket on the 49ers 30/1 that would pay out $900 for “I dunno…maybe two hundred?” Nah, not interested in helping you “hedge” your bet. I may have been wasted, but not that wasted.

We hailed another Uber around 5pm and our driver was more than nice considering how loud I can imagine we were laughing and talking. I tipped him $15 and back inside the MGM we went.

After getting back to MGM, GT and I played some more video poker and I was getting hungry. I went and grabbed us some slices from Bonanno’s and we met back up at a two-seat table in the lobby bar so we could continue our drinking. Midway through our slices, a waitress sees us and comes rushing over, screaming at us. Something about no outside food. A sign would have been nice. No drinks ordered. Strike 2 Mlife. (Strike 1 is the No Points at Bubble Craps)

Went back up to the room around 7:30pm and pounded some waters, but never got my second wind. Called it a night.

    Sunday 2/2

After waking up to no hangover (thanks Pedialyte!), I did a quick count and after finding the mysterious $100 I had tucked away, I realized at this point I was down just a scant $10 of the $2200 I had brought to Vegas. We walked over to NYNY around 9am and I purchased some gifts for the family back home and then we grabbed NFI for breakfast. After breakfast, we walked around the NYNY, Excalibur and MGM before going back up to our rooms to get ready for the Super Bowl.

As I had mentioned before, we had no plans for a Super Bowl party and figured we would wing it closer to game time.

We headed over to the Trop around noon and played some more $2 min bet Bubble Craps. This time I broke even after about 45 minutes of play. We then walked over to the Tram and went down to MB before walking back to Excalibur and then into NYNY.

    fullsizeoutput_1516.jpeg

At NYNY, warm ups were on and we found a bank of slot machines near the registration desk bar that had a good view of the TV at the bar. I left at one point and noticed three empty seats at their Bubble Craps machine. Their machine is located right across from the Center Bar and has pit tables all around. Everywhere you looked (except right behind these empty chairs) were TVs. I texted GT and claimed two seats and that's where we spent the first three quarters of the Super Bowl.

**So I left off writing here to pickup the kids and when I came back and finished this post, it didn't save**
    **Sigh***

Not going to retype all that so here's the TL;DWTWIA (too long, don't want to write it again)

-Drink service got spotty at halftime and beyond. Cheap fuckers (not us) not tipping was the excuse. Personally, I think our CW wanted to watch the game.

-Craps. Hit a 30-1 $5 snake eyes when I was down to my last $10 on a $20 buy in. Hit a Field Bet (12) on a $100 bet. Walked away ahead +$340 and 7 Black Russians.

-NFI. Went back for dinner at the end of the third qtr. and got a table inside.

    -Final Stats

+$362 after all food and tips. Flight/Hotel/Uber not counted in that number.
    +20,000 Mlife tier points
    +28 Black Russians

-Giving the Strip a break. Next visit (thinking late spring/early summer 2021) will be downtown. Loved The Plaza, El Cortez and Golden Nugget. Just need a clean room and decent pool. The rest (gambling, food, drinks, fun) can take care of itself.

-Looking forward to sports betting becoming available here in CO in May. Will be visiting the locals a little more often and will include those in future TRs.

Thanks for reading! Viva Las Vegas!
