Is it just me or has anyone else noticed an increase in ‘service animals’ on the casino floor? I’ve noticed dogs, cats and birds recently and a lot more than in the past!

Absolutely. On our trip this week we saw probably 50 dogs throughout the week.

A couple of years ago over the holidays I was surprised at the number of dogs at Caesars.

Most of them don't look like service dogs. I saw a dog going into the casino at Rio and poop right in front of Smashburgers. The human quickly rushed the dog outside.

Apparently a lot of people got pets during the pandemic.

I sooooo regret the early 21st century wisecrack for all of the Facebook attention seekers "geez, if you're craving constant attention and adoration, get a puppy!" Well, they did!

apparently the service in "service animal" is TikTok.

I feel bad for people who genuinely rely on service animals as they must elicit some preliminary and undeserved scorn from passersby.

In many cases the animals are better behaved than the earthlings.
My service animal is a giraffe. I really get some awkward looks at the airport!

I assume most of the animals are therapeutic or just pets as opposed to service animals that are normally clearly marked with the designation. I don't mind the animals as long as they are not pestering me while I am playing and i don't like to see them sitting in player chairs at the table (my local lets them have the run of the casino so to speak). I also don't like to be assigned to pet stay rooms. Most people who travel with animals take very good care of them and make sure they don't soil areas and are free of fleas etc. Then there are the few who don't and that makes it problematic. I am highly allergic to flea bites and cat dander.

Don't get out of sorts with the above statements. I like animals and I have a wonderful outside dog. Service animals aside, if people need animals to make them feel good in the casino that is okay I guess. I need a winning slot machine to make me feel good.

Actually don't recall seeing any Service Animals on any trips, but have seen lots of pets. :jester:
Some are so darn cute too.
The only down side are the landmines you have to continually watch out for.

Seriously though, with their acute hearing I couldn't image being in the noisy casino for hours is comfortable for them.

I have almost stepped on one or two dogs chilling on the floor next to their service humans. And I was sober.

On the airplanes too. I've never seen so many "service" animals!

Yes! Large parrots. I’ve seen it twice now. Cool because they talk. Gross because of the poop on people’s shoulders. They have a towel down but still

It's not even "service animals", Vegas casinos are increasingly dog-friendly. Speaking as someone whose primary mask says "tell your dog i said hi", and secondary mask says "I LIKE DOGS AND MAYBE THREE PEOPLE" (my boss says three is probably generous), I'm all for it. My building even has a "dog of the month" rotating on the lobby video screen.

Honestly, if anything I'm glad that they're just welcoming dogs rather than going through the service animal rigamarole. I suppose it depends on your personal view, but I kinda like when a random fluffy dog comes up and jumps on me.

I've seen some in strollers also. The strip is not stroller friendly.
I doubt casinos care, but we'll see how long it lasts once they have a dog fight or mauling on the floor.
Service dogs are extremely well trained and I see them totally different than pets.

I am not a huge dog fan. My wife loves them. Cleaning up dog poop, which everyone says they will do when you talk about getting a dog, is something I hate. I have dealt with lots of animal poop, having worked and stayed on a farm, but dog poop is the worst in my opinion. Anyway, I end up cleaning up the droppings, which makes me really happy. Yeah...

I don't know how I feel about all the dogs running around everywhere (note...they are usually not "running around" and are generally under control; "running around" is more about how many of them there are these days). Most seem well behaved and don't want to say hello; that is a good thing. Everything is going well and then some huge ass dog drops a load on the floor at the airport. I don't really want to say hello to your dog and I don't want to see dog mess. Other than that taking a dog everywhere is not my choice but other people seem to think it is a great thing to do.

Okay, so my wife wins and we will get a new puppy in a few months (6-12, I guess). The promises that won't be kept have been made and I will be great with the dog. My mind won't really change, but it will be our pet and I will take good care of it. I promise!

    What kind of puppy?

Also, as far as I'm concerned, all dogs are puppies. Some are just bigger and/or older than others.

My wife would like another Chocolate Lab…so, that is what we shall get. We have already decided on a name…”Chesty Puller”. To be named after a legendary United States Marine….
