    My Trip Report

It is with immense pleasure that I kick off this trip report. After a two-year drought that ended in February, this will be my third time in Vegas in 2021. My parents and I had done Thanksgiving in Vegas twice prior to COVID, and I am thrilled that we are resuming the tradition.

I love doing these live TRs – they’re like mini Vegas diaries and they are so much fun to look back through later on. For my future self, I want to note that these past couple of months have been among the wildest since I was in college. And I generally mean that in a good way. I have been partying a lot, and man have I been getting laid! I’ve been having A LOT of fun. And yet still productive. This trip is happening at a time when I have an awful lot to be thankful for, and where better to celebrate that than Vegas!

I actually was with my parents my last time in Vegas too back in July and we decided at the very end that we’re doing Thanksgiving in Vegas this year. I recently got assigned a host and she booked me a great offer at Paris, better than I got online. Just a normal room but totally free and something like $150 dining credit and $100 free play I believe. She also booked me seats at the Caesars sports book for the final college football Saturday of the regular season. There is nowhere else I’d rather watch college football than the Caesars sports book. I have a feeling I might be there a little on Thursday and Friday as well. I will be flying JetBlue there and back. Last time I got stuck in Vegas an extra night because of the heat, so I am hoping travel is smooth this time.

I don’t have too much planned this trip. I will be having dinner with my parents almost every night, and they took care of the reservations. Mostly steakhouses of course! I will probably play a couple poker tournaments but mostly will be roaming around the Strip playing whatever slot or table game catches my eye. Bankroll is $700/day. Over the past few Vegas trips, I’ve observed my alcohol tolerance diminishing quickly. With the aforementioned fun I’ve been having, that should not a problem this trip. As long as I stick with beer/wine and avoid liquor and particularly shots, I will be enjoying a much higher amount of “free” drinks than I have in the past few trips. I plan on spending some quality time at various bartops playing video BJ or Deuces Wild with the bartenders handing me Heineken after Heineken after Heineken…

I am leaving very early tomorrow morning and am supposed to get into town at about 10 AM – I love getting in early. Maybe my room will be ready but if not, my parents got in town yesterday and I can leave my stuff in their room. Because my usual dispensary (Apothecary Shoppe) is temporarily closed for renovations, I will be trying Planet 13 for the first time and I am VERY excited. Will mostly be getting disposable vape pens but also look forward to seeing their selection of medical edibles. I remember 7-8 years ago when I used to go to a dilapidated house to take a look at my weed dealer’s illicitly acquired selection – I’m imaging Planet 13 will be kind of the opposite of that experience.

Today I am going to take my grandpa out for a pre-Thanksgiving feast and then spend the afternoon packing up and watching the RedZone network. My alarm is already set for 4:20 in the morning and I just now checked in for my flight and got my boarding pass. The countdown to Vegas has begun!

Well it has been a fantastic Day Before Vegas. There are several reasons:
    1) Had a nice pre-Thanksgiving lunch with my grandpa. He cleared his plate as usual, had his favorite – steak and fries.
    2) Won big in my two fantasy football leagues – thank you Jonathan Taylor!
    3) Had dinner with a stripper and then had sex afterwards. (I hope this doesn’t get me banned – this is for my future self to look back on with either pride or shame, I’m not sure.)
    4) Got nearly all packed, just a couple more items to put in the bag tomorrow morning once I use them.

Boy am I juiced right now. I wish I could get the plane to leave 7 hours early and go to the airport now. But a few hours sleep will be good for me, if I can sleep. I am finishing up some laundry (so I don’t have to do it when I get back) and I am going to drink some beer, smoke some weed, and watch some Netflix. Enjoying this creepy show Midnight Mass – no one post any spoilers please.

I will be up at 4:20 sharp, will probably leap out of bed, and then will shower and get an early McDonald’s breakfast. Then will finish packing and head to the airport. I honestly didn’t think about this trip much until about a week ago when I realized I’d be going to Vegas in a week, but now that I am mere hours away from being in the Promised Land, I feel totally electric. I’m not sure I can sleep tonight – “Vegas” and “sleep” are two words that are very far apart from each other in my vocabulary.

    Good night!!

Out of bed like a slingshot and finished getting ready. Quick McDonald’s breakfast then off to FLL! Didn’t realize the tram was running this early (got here at 5:45) so ended up hiking a bit to the terminal but once I got in there was no line at Pre Check. Now at my gate. There’s a shop right here where I’ll get a water for the flight shortly. Going to walk around a bit and work off some of this energy! Vegas in 7 hours!

On the plane! Estimated arrival time moved up by 6 minutes. My longest friend got me Fear and Loathing a few months ago, thinking I’ll re-read it en route!

Got straight into a cab and went to Paris. First time using Diamond check in! Room was not ready so parents let me put stuff in their room. Then we had a delicious breakfast at Cafe Americano. Now I am at Planet 13 and this place is amazing!!!

Wow that was awesome! Got 6 Stiizy vape pens (Blue Dream and Premium Jack Herer) and then 3 500 mg THC milk chocolate bars. Easy process especially for medical card holders. Absolutely amazing. Service, selection, everything. I am now dropping stuff off in my parents room and about to take a huge puff and go join them for the first beer of the trip! Can’t believe it’s not even noon, I love getting into town early!

Had a great round of beers with parents at Beer Park. Amazing view, perfect weather, best possible company. They were walking north so I figured why not join them and start my gambling at Harrah’s? We walked up and took a pit stop at Cromwell (nicest bathrooms that side of center strip) and I saw a nearly empty $15 free bet BJ table. I wanted to play but stuck with my plan and kept walking. Then around Linq I bid my parents farewell and gave into the urge.

Bought in with $300 and played $25 hands + $5 on each side bet. Cleaned house especially on the side bets. Up $350 to start the gaming for this trip! Now time to take a leisurely stroll and find my next fun activity.

Played slots and video poker for a bit with no luck and was about to buy into a UTH table at Paris then got the call that my room was ready. Convenient timing! Now I’m in the room. Going to unpack and then hit CVS next door for some essentials. Then take a shower and try my darndest to take a nap! Tall task for me in Vegas. Room is perfect. Asked for Eiffel Tower view and got it. One of the best views I’ve had in Vegas!

Had good luck at Paris then went to Caesars and had dinner at Mr Chow which I enjoyed for the first time. Loved the fiery beef. And the Tsingtao. Not gonna lie I am DRUNK. As in stumbling, fumbling, struggling to come up with words drunk. Been playing table games at Paris for an hour and a half and drink service is excellent. I am very tired, woke up at 1 AM Vegas time and it’s 10:24. But feel like a nightcap so here at one of the Paris bars going to play some Deuces Wild.

I honestly can’t tell how drunk I am. I feel clear headed but I stumble as I walk. I think I’m typing coherently but I’ll know for sure when I get back home I guess. Not such good luck gambling tonight but good luck with fun and relaxation. Now time for a very good nights sleep. Time to enjoy the view first. I’m stoned on marijuana chocolate. My God I love Vegas. And to think I’ve got only a taste so far this trip. I was up at 1:20 Vegas time; it’s 10:45. Picked up some sour skittles at the little kiosk by the hotel elevators - Vegas is so convenient. Now enjoying a fountain show. Good night Las Vegas!!! 18B6308B-0F58-48D9-83AB-AFDD383B0EF4.jpeg

The Apothecary Shoppe is gone for good. It's now Cookies on Flamingo. Personally I preferred the 80's Miami cigar shop vibe and the pastry chef's great edibles. Now to me it feels like just another chain store. If you check it out I would love to know if they still have the $100-150 oz specials and what you think about it now.
