As a general rule, if you tell them not to take the tunnel or the freeway you will be ok. The route on the link I gave you was good.

    that makes almost zero sense
whether you take uber/lyft or taxi ... you're hailing a ride and asking someone to drive you to a specific destination
what kind of navigating does your friend need to do?

She doesn't want to be long hauled and wants to tell cabbie best route.

Let her pay. Better yet, leave her at home and take a solo trip. Thank goodness I almost always take solo trips so I don't have to deal with this type of bs. I don't know how the rest of humanity puts up with it. And get off my damn lawn! Rotten kids!

Then let her do the homework and find out the best route she wants.

though it is possible, it is way less probable there would be an issue with Uber. But, to be safe, you say the exact same thing as with a cabbie.

    No tunnel please.

Lol you & JeJas! Tis the Season! You both got put on the naughty list. Uber will definitely be cheaper. I suggest booking limo transportation through your hotel, if you plan to gamble more than 4 hours a day and having your host ( if you have one or an on duty host if you don’t) look at folio charges at end of trip. Then you worry about nothing, but looking for your driver holding your last name on a board. He gets your luggage and it’s all vacation from there on. Just my suggestion and what I do every trip. Hassle free!

I’m assuming by your post you are concerned with price and maybe speed?

If so Uber and Lyft will be significantly cheaper. Moreover, it sounds like you and your friends haven’t used these Rideshare services before. If that’s the case there are codes posted in the airport and you will literally get free discounts and free rides. You will be taking a service that already is cheaper with better customer service and discounting it even further! It’s a no brainer.

If you are looking for the experience of being in a cab, skip it and book a limo or something special.

With Uber and Lyft upfront pricing, you don’t pay any more than what is quoted when you request the ride even if the driver took the longer route. The price quoted by Uber and Lyft is a fixed price.

I have been numerous times and take a cab to the Hotel, use Uber or Lyft rest of the time.
It it their first time to Vegas so getting a host and limo is not going to happen. I Will just tell them to say no TUNNEL. Lol

I have been told this by several drivers and it is absolutely not true. I have had Uber and Lyft drivers take me by different routes than were displayed on my phone and it cost more. I have also had a Lyft driver insist that the shortest route to Harrah’s was through the tunnel. The Uber/Lyft people are taking over the cabbies bad habits very quickly. The best thing you can do is ask the driver about their route choice before the car moves and be ready to argue. Or better still, take a bus.

I also use Uber and Lyft as a passenger about once a week and ever since they started up front pricing this year I’ve always paid the price quoted when I’ve requested the ride, never anything more.

I had this happen last trip. The route to Gold Coast on my phone was Swenson, Paradise, Flamingo but the driver took the freeway, saying this will get you there sooner after your long flight. I said go the way the app says, but he replied oops, too late, because he was already turning towards the freeway lane.

It was $10 more than the quoted cost. I put a ticket in querying the price and got my money back in a very short time. I also didn't tip him and told him why.
