    My Trip Report

    oops forgot dates (5/31-6/4)

    where do I start..

    lazy copy paste:
just finished a "No Strip" trip,
stayed at Cal, and since it was a weekend, didn't even venture much deeper into the Fremont madness, that is,
past our quadrant of MSS*/Cal, Plaza, GG/Circa (saw $15 BJ tables at Circa Sat night, packed, good sign?),
hit Red Rock for the first time,
and ended at SP (really enjoyed some fun low limit tables with locals that were actually having fun- win or lose!, pit comped smokes!, food,
and a "M*=-a therapeutic treatment at the spa there)

It was all pretty chill, epecially for a weekend, which we usually try to avoid.

    cancelled a Cosmo City room,
prob will add comped Cosmo rooms back into the mix (see other thread, extended a few months?), then see how MGM offers are..
but did not miss shit VP paytables, light pours of shit liquor in plastic, or table limits too rich for my blood.

    ymmv

*MSS still pitiful, had table games closed Fri night at 1 am!, signs said go to Cal.

Damn man. Yet another trip I miss you by just days. And shame on MSS, there's a craps table there that needs to be dominated right?

really didn't take many pics, or plan to do a TR even,
but as the memory fades already,
do want to share some info and a few VP highlights...

    Cal/MSS Dining Hours,
somewhere I looked had the old Market Street cafe hours listed as non 24, fortunately, it is again. The oxtail rush still happens at 11pm, so plan accordingly.

as is our tradition when getting into the Cal, start w. Aloha.

    half a table stake achieved?

dang, think I forgot the traditional escalator shot,
Oh on that note one with signage, but I suspect two elevators were out of commission, on our ride up to the room after checkin we were warned by a guy that had to take the stairs when they all were. nice warning that set low expectations which were surpassed. No ridiculously long waits, and par for the property, all friendly fun about the situation. No cranks.

Think the Cal TVs got upgraded bigger, and the windows opened for a 2 inch crank, which I appreciate for a bit of air. Last trip think they were full stuck shut.

    Plaza
    Sand Dollar

I think craft beer choices have diminished, solely from seeing Lagunitas IPA on the draft board, and did not look at the printed beer menu, think bartender did not have one, he was not Chris, who he is often mistaken for, and was the guy that had that mad deep menu going.
    IMG_7888.jpeg IMG_7891.jpeg IMG_7893.jpeg IMG_7894.jpeg IMG_7898.jpeg
    second half table stake acheived,

Misnamed "Just Rice" took the old hawaiian spot, not the McDs as surmised by 5 hundy..
    IMG_7899.jpeg IMG_7900.jpeg IMG_7901.jpeg
The sad drink machine, last seen with only two options and you need a token from the slot attendant, in the non smoking area is gone, along with some of that stank new carpet and paint smell,
    IMG_7902.jpeg

And I think that carousel bartender used to be at GG, iirc. Used to mistake him for Spider, who is running One bar shit and we saw front and center at long bar the next day. We remember him from his GG bartending days.
    IMG_7903.jpeg
One of these days, I'll play there, but a non smoking outdoor bar tight on drink comps ain't quite my jam.

By tight are you referencing the quantity or quality of drinks you’re getting poured?

    haven't actually been,
    but (I've heard)
quality as compared to Sand Dollar.
and quantity as far as a light system like the bar by the sports bar that also has shittier odds than that main one.
to that bartenders credit, he just gave in and gave me my G&T after I slotted a hundy in-
to watch the UFC final on my phone-most solid wifi I found was there.

Hit my triple favorites parlay for a mere +118, that's how favorite they were...

You’ve got me thinking: maybe this upcoming trip, instead of downtown, I’ll hit up SP. only been once but remember having fun with regular folks. Cheap(er) gambling too.

Damn near broke my heart leaving Tuesday afternoon and walking past that half empty $5 craps table.

knew stepping up would end in a 12 hour epic battle and we had just checked out.
and I had caught the classic "Sweat Joint" heat at craps the night before, well played, Pitboss Chris.
like I told him, I get it, just business, never personal.. two more rolls then 7 out.
It was a heater, in retrospect, I should have pressed more and then pulled out at the sweat. (twhs)

but yeah, had two just awesomely fun sessions with drunk folk, second one, dumped chips I had meant to cash but worth every penny.

Had almost forgot tables can be like that.
    All positive energy,
And I’m in it for the fun, more than the money.
fun with winning money : fucking ecstatic

    Sat Day 2:
think we jumped out to check out Red Rock
from all the great things I had heard about it,
    was somewhat undewhelmed,
    "Palmsish" small rectangle layout,
do like there's a lotus of Siam in there,
    and would revisit,
but just IDK about the location vs say SP,
as someone driving in from LA...

some fun and low rolling VP options though,
    and this was fun,
    IMG_7978.JPEG
especially seeing the UFC prelims at the sportsbook,
which mistakenly led me to believe I would be seeing the main PPV fights (not.)

Rubios fish tacos were perfect while chilling, watching prelims, and drinking beers w.
    IMG_7983.JPEG
    IMG_7991.JPEG

saw a $5 min RTW craps table up in there on the way out I would have loved to put some time in on , but it was packed, w backing lurkers, and P started losing at slots so we Lyfted back to DT ($25, $11 tip cuz driver was cool and we had mostly bad experiences w. lyft v uber in LV, so that was a relief), and got in on running the refreshed June FP....

machines had given me a table stake and a half, but knowing we'd be ending at SP, was trying to keep BR loaded till then, but..

Are you saying they had some $5 craps at SP or was I reading that wrong? Just curious about day and time (if you have some recollection on that).

Guessing Red Rock had a live table going for 15? That’s been the norm when I have been there lately. There’s usually some of the same guys playing there but it’s not as lively as SP tables though.
