Actor John Amos dies at the age of 84

Natural causes .

Played weatherman Gordy Howard on The Mary Tyler Moore for 3 seasons.
Adult Kunta Kinte on Roots.
And James Evans Sr. on Good Times.

Absolutely loved him as Gordy the weatherman!

I have seen repeats of Roots. It was a great series when it first ran and was still great 30-40 years later.

 

Bad couple of weeks for the Coming to America cast!

 

Oh crud, @FormallyTD must be inconsolable.

I remember renting the whole Roots series from the library, he was great it in it.

 

Loved him in Two and a Half Men as well. Great actor!

I forgot about that role. That was a great character paired with Stacy Keach.

 

Wow. What a week!.

Amos was so impressive in various roles. From Good Times to MTM, Roots to West Wing. I think West Wing was my favorite of his work

 

He wasn't just a legend on our RCA TVs and a larger-than-life figure on the silver screen.

More importantly, he was a Colorado State Ram!!

Flags across this land best be at half-staff tomorrow.
