After an extremely busy summer that prevented my wife and me from visiting Vegas for our annual anniversary trip, we are about to shake off an extended absence for a week of fun and debauchery. In my six-month absence from the promised land one thing that I could always rely on to help my morale were the excellent trip reports shared by you fine cats. This has inspired me to try (once again) for a trip report.
Now, you're probably thinking one of two things at this time:
(1) Fuzzy, I've been here long enough to see you attempt two or three trip reports, none of which have gotten past day 2.
Well, ye of little faith, what you say is true. However, I have both an excuse and a solution. In the past I was the "proud" owner of a Sharp Aquos Crystal - commonly known as the Dumbest Smartphone in America. The phone's struggles with tapatalk and shit camera made keeping up with a report both frustrating and uninspiring. And if you're not buying that, well, I tend to get drunk in Vegas and forget to do it.
With respect to the first, I have finally decided to stop being a cheap-ass and upgraded my phone. I rather enjoy using the camera, and tapatalk seems intuitive with a better phone. Easy fix. With regard to the second, well that's a risk we all take, but I'm confident I can maintain some amount of discipline.
If you aren't familiar with my past failed TR's, you're probably thinking:
(2) Fuzzy, why would I care about your TR?
Short answer - you probably don't. We aren't high-rollers, I hope to be able to share moderate hundred-dollar wins if the dice are kind, or VP and slots cooperate. I'll also place hundred(s) dollars bets at the books and share those wins (hopefully). So you won't see your annual salary gambled on a single bet or your mortgage lost at a table. But if I've learned one thing money's value is quite subjective, so if you don't care about that, come along!
We tend to spend most of our time drinking and gambling. Although I'm wordy now, there will be little text once its wheels down in Vegas. But if you're like me, as much as I appreciate the detailed trip reports, I am guilty of skimming glassy-eyed through paragraphs of text to get to the pictures. Heck, if anyone is still reading this now I'd be shocked.
So what you'll see here is mainly pictures covertly taken inside the casinos, pictures of the strip and rooms, pictures of drinks and cheap and moderately priced meals, and hopefully pics of wins, wins, wins.
Ok, so that out of the way.
Here's the plan!!
Today - after I finish this I am going to work on about 5 things at the office. Once those are done, I'm out!! Its then off to the bank to acquire the rest of our bankroll, to the store to get some caulk (totally not Vegas related, windows need sealed before winter), to another store to get the wifey some bday cards, and then home. At home I need to pack, ensure our Vegas playlist is ready for the one-hour drive to CMH from DAY, and then hopefully grab a few hours shut-eye before our early departure (I know I'm not the only one who can't sleep the night before Vegas).
It is worth noting that my wife's birthday is November 18th. We normally don't arrive in Vegas on a Friday, but figured what better way to celebrate a birthday than with a Birthday trip. We also splurged for one way first-class tickets partly for that reason. Then we fly home on SW with the other plebs.
Friday, Nov 18:
4am - wake-up call.
5am - drop-dead time to leave house for CMH
8:05 - CMH to Atlanta (splurged for First Class)
11:20 - ATL to LAS
12:37 - Arrive in Vegas
12:40 - Presidential Limo from McCarran to Paris
Nov 18 - 20 - Paris Las Vegas (2 nights comped in Red Room)
Saturday Nov 19 - Lots of college football (go Bucks - last year I was in Vegas for the terrible, awful, tragic OSU/MSU game. Can't wait for sweet revenge this year)
Nov 20 - 25 - Palazzo Las Vegas (5 nights comped, Free Play, Resort Credit, Grazie Gifts)
Friday November 25 -3:30 pm - Limo from Palazzo to McCarran
6:00 pm - SW direct flight LAS to CMH
Saturday November 26Arrive home around 1 am
OSU v. Michigan Noon
We have absolutely nothing on the agenda which is fantastic. About 5 hours after we arrive Friday my wife's cousin and her hubbie arrive. They have 2 nights at MC and then 3 nights at Palazzo, with a Sunday night overlap. They leave Tuesday. It will be fun hanging with them.
Alright, I really need to get some work done here, so I'll leave you for now with a picture of a sweet t-shirt I picked up at a local grocery store for $5. It isn't quite how I approach Vegas, but every trip I seem to have a night where I make a few bad choices:
