I've never been to skyfall but have seen pictures, definitely want to check it out in the future.
The SkyBar at Waldorf Astoria looks to have a pretty awesome view as well.

January 4, 2020 – Unsurprisingly the GF was not feeling her best this morning haha

While she slept it off I went over to Oyo as I wanted a new players card and $1 chip. I pumped $200 into the slots winning a grand total of $0 then followed that up by winning $200 at hot single deck 3-2 BJ game. It was a $10 table and I was betting $20-$25 a hand playing alone. Probably played through about 3 or 4 shuffles. If I had more time and had been a little more aggressive I could have made a decent chunk here. But was happy to leave with my money back from the slots.

    20200104_131851.jpg

Made my way back to the Excalibur and got into the Mlife line to get my $150 freeplay activated along with another $25 freeplay (via myKonami). Timing worked out good as the GF was coming to life as I was finishing up.

The plans today got adjusted a little as we didn’t account for such a late start. It’s not a Vegas vacation without one of those days haha

Minor things got cut from the itinerary but the main plans of gaming at Mandalay Bay and Luxor for a few hours held up as we hadn’t been that way this trip. We headed over to Luxor and grabbed a bite at Public House. Food was decent but neither of us could eat much. The 4 straight days of boozin’ is starting to catch up.

Today I am hoping to hit a decent win somewhere to make up some of the million dollars we’ve spent gambling and losing so far. We made our way over to Mandalay Bay and played a bunch of slots all over the casino. No big wins or losses on this session. Back through Manadalay Place and into the Luxor casino to take a shot there. I had a $25 matchplay (via myVegas) to use at blackjack so I started with that. Left the table within 30 minutes as the cards were not very pretty. I did luckily manage to break even on this session.

Played slots around the Luxor for awhile with no notable wins. We did take a shot at a Harley machine that had all levels of the free games flaming at the $4 bet level but were unsuccessful. After trying another machine not too far away we walked by the Harley machine to see that someone had it the Maxi free games and a $700+ dollar win. Yes, we are close once again but have to settle with feeding someone else’s bankroll haha

Back into the dirty castle we go with no more money than we left with this morning. Our flight was scheduled to leave at 11:40pm that night so it’s time to make some big wagers and hit some big jackpots to refill all the money bags we came to Vegas with.

Can you guess what happened? If you guessed an ass whoopin’, you are right! Haha

Not surprisingly we didn’t get any big wins on our last ditch effort to hit the big one. A couple of notable occurrences… on a $5.28 bet on Fortune 88 I hit the free game bonus. Traditionally I’ve found bonuses on this game at the higher bets to pay decently. My win? A little over $30. As I’m not a give’r up’r I kept trekking on and excitedly hit a free game bonus on one of the newer Zeus games. This was at max bet of $6.00 so it’s gotta be a decent win right?! Total win? Eight f*&%ing dollars! Yes, an $8 free game bonus win on a $6 max bet. That was absolutely atrocious, but summed up gaming this trip with an exclamation.

By this time I was giving up on those damn machines and decided to play a little BJ to kill the last couple hours. I lasted about half an hour. The table started out decent, winning a little more than losing. But then the dealer got hot, literally 3 blackjacks in a row and after about 4 more hands of 20 I quit.

With a couple hours left before having to head to the airport I decided to go back over to NYNY and see if their BJ was gonna treat me any better…

Only Played for about 15 minutes before locking in another loss. Cards were terrible. This capped off the gaming for this trip.

Headed back to the Excalibur, up to the room to finish getting our things together then took an Uber to the airport to make the long-ass trek back to reality.

    Our view from Excal…

The flight left an hour late but was otherwise uneventful. Got to Toronto around 7:30am then made the 3.5 hour drive home. Yes, it was as horrible as it sounds.

    Final thoughts coming up next…

It does - as long as you look north ;) Otherwise it's the crappy Hawaiian marketplace. FWIW - the cocktails and eats at the SkyBar are incredible, and I daresay better than Skyfall.

    I can't imagine a 3.5hr drive after a red-eye. :blink::thumbsdown:

Great TR. Amazing how you and GF were able to double up on all the freebies and coupons via black Friday deals You guys know your way around Vegas, especially how to do NYE! Kudos on helping out.

When I leave a slot machine that just won’t pay, I move away as fast as I can and never look back cause it would soooo tick me off if within seconds of leaving someone hits something good, grrrr.

Thanks for sharing, y’all are a lovely couple

Great report. You definitely made it all over the place. I cannot imagine anyone taking any children near that madness on NYE. What the hell were they thinking.

Nice report! Sucks you couldn't find any significant wins.

I'll have to keep Vegas.com Black Friday in mind if it can lead to high roller happy hour tickets!

Planning is a big part of the fun for us, experience helps :)
I don’t usually like to see what happened with a machine after we leave it, but this time we got to see the ugliness haha Such goes the gambol  haha

There’s always next time... I’m no quitter :D
Yes that Black Friday deal was awesome! But I will say... the High Roller Happy Half Hour is worth the regular admission... and definitely worth it if you can find any type of discount.

    Post-trip thoughts…

For the past 3 or 4 trips we’ve been creating a trip spreadsheet with a breakdown of shows/activities/food/casinos/rewards each day. When the GF first suggested it a few trips back I wasn’t overly keen on the idea as I don’t like to be held to a ‘schedule’ on vacation. However, it has become almost a lifeline from the first trip we took using one. It makes everything so much easier to plan and limits the amount of time wasted either wondering what to do next or backtracking etc. Not only does it help with the planning but it makes the planning more exciting, fitting things in, moving things around, adjusting activities etc. Love it!

The Vegas.com black Friday deal was amazing! For a total of $25 each we got:
    · 3 days of monorail,
    · Eiffel Tower viewing deck,
    · Strat Tower viewing deck,
    · Real Bodies at Bally’s,
    · 4-D Experience at Excalibur,
    · tix to Piff the Magic Dragon,
    · tix to Celestia,
    · 4 regular admissions to the High Roller (for family), and
    · 2 spins each on the High Roller Happy Half Hour.

Victory is ours!…if you’re talking about hockey that is. The Vegas Golden Knights are now 3 wins and zero losses with us in attendance. If you haven’t been to a game you should definitely go. Awesome!

Got a crapload of quality swag from Binion’s and Four Queen’s via their apps. Also $300 worth of food. Worth the effort.

Binion’s steakhouse was a great overall experience which we will definitely do again. Food was great and our waiter Salvador was awesome. We may try Hugo’s Cellar as we heard good things about that place as well and it would also be free from the app.

When we were walking into The STRAT on our visit I literally said “this would be a cool place to stay for a night or two in a future trip”. We like to try new hotels so it was definitely a possibility. However, the experience with the single drink while playing slots immediately turned us both off and we both were very quick to tell each other that we won’t be back to the Strat at all, let alone stay there.

Downtown is awesome! We make a point of going for a day each trip and this time was as fun as ever. The gaming seems to be a lot more fair than the Strip, slots more giving getting decent play, tables lower limits and decent rules. It was probably our funnest day of the trip. We will be staying downtown at some point in the near future. I’ve been saying I wanted to spend a couple nights there for the past couple trips and after this time the GF said it would be for sure during our summer trip, or maybe next NYE at the new Circa.

It was our first time using the Monorail and we thought it was pretty good. My only negative would be the walk from the monorail stations to get into the hotels in a couple spots (like the Linq). Outside of that I thought it was a convenient way to get up and down the Strip. Will most likely use again in future trips.

The slots were not in the giving mood at all this trip (on the Strip). Probably one of our worst trips gambling-wise. I’ve always found the slots on the Strip to be tight but over 6 days you can usually get some play at some point. Not this trip. Downtown was a lot nicer, giving us a lot of play for our money which is part of the reason we have so much fun there.

As of now we are in the infant stages of getting the details of our summer trip organized. Already miss it and looking forward to being back in Vegas for a 6 or 7 night vacation sometime in July or August.

We also have a trip to New York City being planned for the summer. Like the real New York, not the Vegas New York haha ... if anyone has any tips for that I'd be happy to hear :)

    Until next time...

Actually, I benefited once like that. A lady was playing this Wonder 4 machine for a while, she got up, I sat down, and within 2 minutes I hit the Grand Jackpot for $3100.00. This happened at the Flamingo in September of 2018. I'm glad that she just left and didn't stick around to see it.
