I think some hotels do own the sidewalk in front of their hotels, and that's why there are no porn slappers there. Such as Bellagio and Venetian. Tresspassing is a good way to limit anyone's access.

So I wonder what would happen if I come across a group of 6 or 7 porn slappers, got a card from each one, then dropped the cards on the ground in front of them. This would naturally be followed up by me crossing my arms, tapping a foot, and looking expectantly at them and stating "No tiren basura".

There wasn't really any question that this was going to pass: the county will always pass every possible law or ordinance they can to get rid of the porn slappers.

Likewise there isn't any question the ACLU will fight it and from the sounds of the article they've already put a fair bit of thought in to this, in anticipation of when it would pass.

yup, should be interesting before the ACLU files an injunction trying to stop the law. Also should be interesting to see how long the courts will take to strike down the law.

I am all for the slappers having to police their trash on the ground but I don't think legally it will hold up in court. For sure the ACLU will be fighting this thing for the porn slappers "rights", lol.

Wait for the first time the police try to enforce this. So, here you have 6 guys (and ladies) handing out cards. Cops says they have to clean up. Which one "owns" the problem? All of them?

What a mess that is going to be.

I hate the porn slappers but I think the ACLU is getting unfairly bashed in this thread.

I don't think they are getting bashed in this thread... but I also don't think anybody is really backing their support of the porn slappers in all this.

I do think that the big problem is: protecting the people's freedom of speech/expression is pretty important - its a foundation of democracy, not just in the USA but all over the world in the countries that allow it - it is considered a fundamental human right.

But in this case the porn slappers aren't expressing opinions, views, thoughts or ideas and ideals - they are just advertising for prostitution services.

And to that end it would be totally different if the porn slappers were handing out cards that were promoting the legalization of prostitution, instead of prostitution itself - in that case then it would be an opinion, view, idea and ideal, what the whole point of "Freedom of Speech/Expression" is all about.

But in all this I think the big thing is that right now we can kind of count ourselves lucky that so far its only porn slappers out there... technically if its legal for those guys to be out there handing out cards advertising prostitution then it would be legal for any business to have people out there handing out cards advertising their business where the extreme case would be having the sidewalks crammed with thousands of people flicking and slapping little cards promoting every thing from retail shops, restaurants, bars and clubs in each of the hotels/casinos to where there'd be no way for pedestrians to get around at all without going single file through a gauntlet of people with their hand out with some kind of card or other in it.
