    My Trip Report

Apologies it's taken a while to put this together but had a few issues at home and busy with work, it's a good job I make notes to do these things as I would of forgotten most of it by now.

    Thurs 5th July

I had stayed at the Airport hotel the night before as I always do. I took the shuttle bus to Terminal 2 and checked my luggage in, I had already checked in online. I was flying with Virgin Atlantic again and I was booked into Premium. Security was easy, and I went for a drink as I waited for the gate to open. I was just finishing my drink when a guy came over and offered me a bottle of beer, he had just bought it and his gate was called.

So off to a good start with a free beer. The flight was good, and I was sat next to a young couple who were going to Vegas for the first time. She was getting quite excited as we descended into Vegas, although she had to be a bit patient as we circled a couple times before eventually landing. A flight from London was landing straight after mine, I deplaned as quick as I could and was near the front for immigration. Once through there I collected my luggage and was out to get a cab.

My destination as always was Tuscany and check in was quick and I was soon in my room and unpacking. I freshened up and went into the casino for a drink and a dabble on the VP. I had a couple of drinks then decided to have a walk out and I headed towards the Linq. I stopped off in O’Shea’s for a couple of drinks before walking over to Tilted Kilt. I had a few drinks in there and I got some food as well.

I headed back to Tuscany to get changed as it was the slot pull at Venetian that night. I got changed and freshened up and headed back out onto the Strip. I got to Venetian and found the bar where we were all meeting up. I was greeted by Chuck and I chatted to some other board members, sorry I’m bad with names. The guy with the flamingo shirt on, chatted to him a bit but can’t remember his name so sorry again.

Marky 147 who is a fellow Brit did the honours for us on the machines, I picked WoF and got naff all from it. We all ended up $60 down on the original stake, so not so bad and a lot better than the one I did at Mirage once. Thanks to Chuck for organising it and I hope I’m in town again the next time you organise another one.

Here's a link to the thread about the slot pull with some pics.

After we went our separate ways I headed back to the Linq area and ended up in O’Shea’s for a few beers before moving on. I ended up in Platinum Club for the last beers of the night before heading back to Tuscany for some sleep.

    Fri 6th July

I was awake at about 10am and I got dressed and ready to get out as I was off down to Mandalay Bay to watch the darts. I decided to take a nice easy walk down to Mandalay Bay, it was mid-morning, so the Strip wasn’t too bad. I stopped off in NYNY for a hot Dog and a Pepsi before carrying on towards Mandalay Bay. I got there and found whereabouts it was, and I got in just as they were announcing the first match. The format was the top 8 PDC players against a mix of players from U.S.A and Canada.

The PDC got 7 of their 8 players through to the last 8 which would be played on Saturday. I left the venue and made my way through the casino and into the shops. I had a look around the memorabilia shop they have there before walking through Luxor and towards Excalibur.

I started to curse as the moving walkway wasn’t working from Luxor toward Excalibur. I felt a bit guilty when I found out why it wasn’t working. At the end of the walkway were about three hotel employees and a couple. The girl was sat on the floor in tears and when I looked I could see why. She had one foot covered in bandages, the bandages were just red though. I’m guessing she got caught in the walkway.

I carried on through Excalibur and across to NYNY, I eventually end up in Park MGM and I have a drink in there before moving on. I notice how much work they have done to this place to convert it from Monte Carlo. I end up back at Tuscany for a rest and I eventually get the energy to get up and ready and I make my way out. I end up in Paris and stay quite a while in there as I know a couple of the guys who work at Gustevs bar,

After there I head back down E Flamingo and end up in Platinum for a couple of beers before it’s bedtime.

My plan was to get up to watch the England game in the World Cup. I overslept a little but manage to catch the second half at the bar in Tuscany Casino. There weren’t many England fans about in there as you would expect. Anyway, we won the game and I was just finishing my drink when a woman approached the bar. There was a load of empty seats around, but she decided to sit right next to me. I’m thinking surely not at this time of the morning.

She struck up a conversation and I was trying to be friendly without giving out the wrong message. I had just about finished my drink and I was getting ready to leave. She spots this and makes the offer, I decline and go back to my room. I have a chill in the room before getting ready to go Mandalay Bay for the final day of the darts.

Rather than walk again I decide to use Lyft on this occasion. I get to Mandalay Bay and I do what everyone else was doing the day before. There was a shop inside of Mandalay Bay just before you got to the venue. They were selling large cans of beer which worked out cheaper.

I got my drink and went through security and went into the room to find my seat. I was on Table A so I walked along and got to table B. Next to table B was a wall and no sign of a table. I asked and was sent back across the room to be reassigned a seat. Turned out better as well, I was on same table as previous day but a little further back.

Today was quarter’s then the semi’s and then the final. Another great day of darts and Gary Anderson winning the final with a bull finish. I leave the venue and walk through the casino and I see a small crowd of people. I go and have a nosey and in the middle of the crowd is one of the darts players. It’s Peter “Snakebite” Wright. Really nice and I managed to get a picture with him. He hung around, so everyone got a pic with him.

After my picture I headed towards the shops and ended up in RI Ra for a pint. I then decided to stretch my legs and have a walk back to centre Strip. I got to Paris and decided to stop for a beer or two before heading back to Tuscany for a beer and some VP. I then go back to the room to get changed and I get Lyft to Downtown. I get dropped at El Cortez as always and have a walk through and onto Fremont Street.

I just love walking down here as it’s just character after character you see. That’s just the tourists sometimes. I end up at Golden Gate and chat to some of the staff I know in there. I miss Curly not working there anymore, was a character. I leave there after a few beers then it’s onto Filament Bar at Fremont. This bar seems to have grown on me and I always call in for a drink when Downtown.

I have mentioned it before but one of the bar guys is eastern European and reminds me of the guy from the wedding chapel in the first Hangover movie. After there I decide to head back, and I get Lyft back to Tuscany. I have a walk around to Platinum Club and have a few in there before heading back to Tuscany. I have a last couple in there before bed.

    Sun 8th July

Today was a bit of a lazy day and I decided to hit the VP at Tuscany in afternoon for about two hours. After not much luck I decided to have a walk out and I ended up in Paris at Gustevs Bar. After a few in there I have a wander around and I end up on the Linq promenade and of course I must visit Tilted Kilt. I have a few beers and get something to eat as well before going back to Tuscany for a chill in the room before getting changed and having a few in Platinum before going back to Tuscany for a night cap.

    Mon 9th July

Decided to hit the VP at Tuscany once again today to see if I could get a hit the big one. It didn’t happen this time, but I had a bloody good go at it. After that I decided to go for a walk and I found myself in Tilted Kilt once again for a beer or three. Then it was O’Shea’s next for some more drink. I headed back to Tuscany for a chill in my room and a rest. It was getting on for about 8pm when I decided to have a walk out. The wind was getting up and a few spots of rain were falling. I decided against a walk-up E Flamingo as I was going to get soaked if it started raining heavy.

I went into the casino for a drink and my instinct was right as it was now raining very heavily outside. I went out about 3 or 4 times to check and it was still coming down. Even if I made a dash to Platinum I would have been soaked. It got late on before it actually stopped, I did make a walk over to Platinum, but it was very quiet due to the weather. I had a couple in there before going back to Tuscany for a late-night drink.

    Tues 10th July

As always in Vegas late nights end up with late starts and today was an afternoon start. I stayed in Tuscany and again another marathon VP session at the bar. I went back to my room for a shower and change and ready to have an evening Downtown. I get Lyft and get dropped at El Cortez for some quick VP and a beer. I decide to go over to Container Park for a look around. I have had a wander around here before but never visited anywhere, this time I called in at Oak and Ivy for a drink before walking up to Fremont Street.

Seen this on Fremont St and thought it was a nice tribute.

I call in at The D for a drink and I get something from Mcdonalds to keep me going. I walk up Fremont and wind up in the Golden Gate for a few before calling in at Fremont on the way back down. I have another in The D before getting Lyft back to the Strip.

I end up in O’Shea’s for a few before walking down E Flamingo and ending up in Platinum.

I think it was about $8 but it was only a 330ml can. The shop outside the venue were selling the big tall cans for about $14 if I remember right.

    Weds 11th July

Started early to watch England in the World Cup Semi Final. Heartbreak was the only feeling and I went back to my room for a while. I went back to the casino and hit the VP once more, but to no avail. I decided to go for a walk out and started with Tilted Kilt. After a few beers I went across to O’Shea’s for a couple before having a walk over to Cromwell. A drink in there before moving over to Paris for a drink or two.

I head back to Tuscany to get changed and go over to Platinum for a final time. After there I go back to Tuscany for my final drinks.

    Thurs 12th July

I manage to negotiate to keep my room until 1pm, I have a late afternoon flight, so I check out and leave my luggage with the bell desk. I decide to have one last do at the VP in here. I do make a small profit by the time I have finished. I collect my luggage and get Lyft to the airport. Check in is easy and I’m through security quite quick for Vegas. The flight is good back and I arrive back in Manchester.

So this is it for now, my change in circumstances means that my trips will now be less frequent due to me leaving my job. I still have the resources for one more this year and it could be sometime in September before I go looking for another j
