    Hello all.

I’m bringing a first timer and am getting my ‘special’ evening meal bookings in now.

I’ve gone for Bavettes as the Steakhouse and Hell’s Kitchen because he is Gordon Ramsay mad, but want an Italian to compete the line up.

MGM resort preferably courtesy of resort credit that’ll need using.

Carbone, Lago, something else? Doesn’t have to be mega fancy/expensive, just good!

    Thanks in advance.

Agree, Carbone. Lago is good, but small plates and too modern of a atmosphere.

Carbone, but I'd also very strongly recommend Costa at Mirage.

    Carbone.
Try the Octopus appetizer - it is amazing. And any of the pasta dishes. I prefer the puttanesca.
    enjoy.

That’s like asking which one of your kids you love most. The Caesar salad is excellent and I’m not a salad guy. I’d throw the spicy rigatoni into the mix, but I wouldn’t argue with the above either

I always start with the spicy rigatoni vodka.
    Best anywhere.
Meatballs are not on the menu but ask for them.

I've been to Carbone and Lago. The food is Id say at least one full class higher at Carbone, but if the weather is nice and you get an outdoor seat, I'd say the Lago atmosphere is far superior for the al fresco with close up fountain show dining experience, and the food there was pretty good too, all in my opinion of course. I was annoyed by the photographer interrupting our dinner to take pictures then bringing a high pressure sales pitch to buy 2 pictures for $80 when we just wanted to pay the check and leave though (at Lago). Didnt see anything like that at Carbone.

I'd also add a suggestion to look at both menus ahead of time if deciding between those two; they're pretty different in what they offer.

You will definitely enjoy Carbone, I would suggest the Spicy Rigatoni Vodka ( their signature dish), Angel hair AOP, the lobster ravioli, veal parmesan, and something that is not on the menu; but, a must is their meatballs.

If it’s on the menu at Carbone it’s potentially life changing. It’s that good, and the service is on par with the food. Can’t go wrong dining there for a night

Is Carbone really booked up through February or are they not yet taking reservations that far out? Trying to book through MGM site and shows nothing available.

But seriously I need to try Carbone before they stop offering me resort credit.
