Played 1/3 NLHE last night at the local casino for a few hours... At my home base, the 1/3 game is way crazier and looser than the 2/5 game on the weekends (the 2/5 game at my home casino is always pretty zzz, even on the weekends, so when I play at home it's usually a Fri or Sat night at the 1/3 table). Lots of rec players, a Cleveland Indians game just let out prior to my arrival, and the normal weekend crazies. Had a pretty good night, cards were falling in my favor this time (unlike most times!). Again, all skill luck :)

Hand 1: On the button with A7 suited (hearts)... a few limpers and I raise preflop to $10, 2 callers. One heart on the flop, checks around. Turn is a heart, checks to me, I bet $18, and both players call. River is a third heart on the board, no pairs, no straight flush draws, I have THE NUTS. First guy bets $50, second guy shoves all in, I call (not re-shove), back to first guy who goes all in for more, and I call that too. My A-high flush beats a K-high flush and a J-high flush (A7 vs KT vs J9)... can't believe all the hearts that showed up for that hand.

Hand 2: I have AA in late position, I raised preflop to $18 and got one caller. Flop was 852 rainbow, and the other player shoves for about $70. I make the call, only to find the player flopped a set with 55. Turn A, River A, and I take the pot down.

Hand 3: Our casino lets us do the 'straddle' bet but only UTG (other casinos in Ohio also allow it on the button, "Mississippi straddle"). We decided we'd all do a straddle (in the 1/3 game it's a $6 straddle) for one round. In addition, while we aren't allowed to double straddle, the person UTG+1 was doing a "blind raise" every hand to $15 (I love drunk weekend poker). On the hand where I was the $15 blind raise, I get JJ. Crazy kid at the other end of the table raises to $50, folds back to me, I make it $100, and he calls. Flop JJK. I check, he shoves for way more than the pot, maybe $500ish. I make the call without hesitation and see he has KK. Unfortunately another K did not make an appearance (bad beat jackpot) but I won a nice pot there.

Hand 4: My last hand of the night - by this point I had about $2k in front of me, and I announced before the cards were dealt that this would be my last hand - and that I would play it blind (I was the button). So a few limpers around to me and I blind call the $3. Maybe 6 to the flop... Flop is some low garbage, a couple of small $5 or $10 bets I called blind... turn and river aren't much better, all checks from that point... ended up flopping two crappy pair (2's and 8's!) and taking down the last pot.

2 quads in a couple hours. I go months between quads. Now that is done luck.

Yeah it was a crazy night... didn't mention a hand where I turned a Q-high straight flush, but never got paid off on that hand.

The run goods are great to get anywhere, but at an action table? Pure magic.
