105 out here!
@B T , Lardos was great, got stymied yesterday, they’re only open wed-sun.
So happy we got to get the pho-rench dip today, they had pulled it from the menu from a while.

@B T: that Trumer Pils was in the coozie in that previous shot

@Jer , sorry for the late reply, no idea if the yo hit, but there were some of the the longest bubble craps runs I’ve witnessed. I was in this conundrum of wanting to offer some hen or talk to to the pretty, but bored girl next to me, but her boyfriend and his posse of 6-8 dudes crushing around the table made me mind my business, shut my mouth, and keep my head low but on a swivel. Spirits were high and all went well though.

Btw, we noticed these dots, when sitting on the couch and looking around through it, can kind of make you dizzy..
Try standing up and compare the view...

This song came up in the shuffle and kind of hit at the perfect time, the tempo changes were just great for punching VP buttons to.. I think I replayed it at least three times, ending in the finish below...

We liked Paris. A lot. I had old bad memories of a different decor from a distant era.

* (I’m not really this flossy, this is Ps fathers (RIP) ring, I thought I’d try to wear it one time out here, he loved vegas. Also I had a necklace my grandmother gave a very long time ago that I never wear out, I doubt if I'll do it again - on Fremont P gave me the protip- rotate the diamonds inside- , but there's also her Grandpas watch, and the thought of 'taking' family members w. me warms me cockles.)

*(easter egg song add on: this had played before as well, which makes me think of my father, so it was a whole damn family reuinion on my body and spinning around in my head)

There’s a twist, too
, I had been grinding this machine a long while,
finally had to hit the head, told P to play it out, w another $20 I provided then quit.
She got it just inside that 20. It’s really her hit. We chopped it.

Trying to leave the strip to go DT to check into the Cal, play some low DT limits a little, then return to Cosmo.

Current song: 2 elevens blood walk. Oddly semi appropriate. (#foreshadowing)
At the Strip waiting forever for confused uber.

STRIP UBER use PSA:
Reminder, manually enter your location, don’t trust its auto locate,
it sends the driver the wrong place sometimes,
been warned before, forgot this time, since we were at the pickup location the app suggested,
it's something about overloaded cell or sketchy GPS service on the strip.
Had to call him and tell him where we were at, he was across the street or something,
same thing that happened before..
I would suggest that as well, if you do use the autolocate,

send a text or call your ride to confirm you are both heading to the same place.

This gentleman with a nice low slammed ride on big old rims (probably > DUBS), picked a nice dress from the trunk for his lady friend, but she did not concur with his suggestion.
Well, that's Ps report at least.
I think I had earbuds in and was just admiring his ride. I like the body kit. And it was super clean.

So sad. That is how it looked when my parents stayed there my past trip. Weekdays are brutal for the Cal which doesn't bode well for Main Street Station.

More things you can do now:
Get stuck w no ride downtown:

(If we didn’t have a room we just checked into as a backup, and a sub sandwich, things were about to get hangry).
P::feedme:, :grrr:
Move from front of plaza to back of GG to see if it helps the "NO DRIVERS AVAILABLE" message. It doesn't.

While we're messing with uber, see lots of Circa workers coming off shift, it's a little more reassuring than standing around in a fully empty street.

I was about to go hobo and sit on the curb, drink my beer, and break open the sandwich while waiting 20 min for an uber, but after two cancelled, we thought maybe going to the Golden Nugget might help us grab a cab.

Also, two raggedy looking possible hookers came out from GG, and we didn't really want to party with them.

CalVidVegasOMG 365Cappted35min.JPG
"We should be there in... uh, maybe 50 minutes."

I was thinking we just needed to go hang out in that room an hour or so, then try again,
but the street going into the Cal is blocked off for Circa construction.
Can still get into the garage, but it seemed more like downtown was so dead no one wanted to trek out there.
At least two rides appeared to cancel, then I cancelled the one that was 22 min away.

Decided to head to highest possible traffic location, as I'm punching away at Uber, I tell P, "keep your eyes peeled for a cab". Next thing I know she has hailed one, we
just happened to catch a cab driver that just started his shift, and said he always starts downtown. It was still hot as hell and feeling kind of humid, so it was a bummer when we got in and the A/C wasn't on.. Mentioned the heat, and he popped it on when we got on the freeway.. Had some nice chit-chat, made great time on empty roads, He got the uber fare as a tip.

We were pretty damn relieved to get back to our Cosmo Room..

Those of you who cancelled should feel happy you made the right decision, it truly is not like it used to be.

downtown more than the strip, maybe it was the hour, we checked into our Cal room, hit a few spots - more details later.

It wasn’t all bad though,
(Maybe more session detail later)

Later, at the plaza craps table, $10 min , this young surfer looking kid was crushing it.
I bought in for $220, started betting that out, and putting wins into the right stack.
Didn’t get past the glorious hump, but it was the only shooter during the whole session.
When it wrapped the guy, his sidekick watching buddy, and big bettor left,
I was no dummy, playing an empty table after a roll like that and colored,
waiting around for my first beer. (1 waitress- she was hustling though)

P saw big bettor cash his black stack and tip shooter and his buddy $100 ea. Classy.

Awoken from deep sleep by couple loudly fighting in next room over.

Forgot to add the “no connecting room” request at checkin.

The change and strangeness is getting to me.
Minor inconveniences are adding up,
and grating on our nerves cumulatively.

List of bitching may follow sometime.
I mean so what if 1 total USB charging port in the lamp is pushed through and gone, it’s always the case at the Cal, there’re 2 that work. Oh, there’s no ashtray in our smoking room, no problem, we borrowed one from Cosmo, since that seems to be the thing to do, since there wasn’t one in the terrace when we checked in and...

Don’t get me started about the general feeling that comp chasing is seeming to involve ever more small hoops just annoying enough to dis-incentivize all but the most dogged.

Ugh. To be continued.

Still tipping though. I think we were out around 50 at Cosmo before we got in the room.
(Valet & bellman were available, which seems unusual right now).
$25 of it was for a upgrade to 1BR terrace though, so that was worth it.

Oh Cal wifi just dropped.
Oh wait, it always does.
and continued to do for the whole trip,
you re-connect, start doing something- poof, it's gone..
:eek:Aw jeez, of course nothing to do with the fact there is a paid option that might work.

Re Trooper at Cosmo bubble craps, funny I haven’t heard of him but checked it out, was kind of laughing at him trying to get his FP to trigger.

Right just now I realized I should have paid more attention-

I was in the exact same place. And this speaks to the “Comp chasing grind” I was talking about.

The new $75 Cosmo FP offer was nowhere to be found. It wasn’t there when I booked, then it was there, including the dates of our visit.

Let’s get to the bottom of this, shall we:

1. Show up at Cosmo, Identity club desk is closed. ( ?:00, not that late)
2. Need a slot tech to help me w stuck ticket out on first machine I play.
CalVidVegasOMG 156.JPG
CalVidVegasOMG 151.JPG

CalVidVegasOMG 155.JPG

2a) Maybe a half hour wait, parched. no cocktail waitress. Entertain myself by sucking on a cough drop and listening to music on headphones.

2b) ticket prints blank, she rips it up, closes machine w difficulty.
(another lady runs up, she fed a hundy into a machine and it just blanked out. Slot attendant tells her to go wait at machine)
My machine is closed. No ticket prints. She is confuse. Looks at ripped up ticket, it’s blank but has a single line of code printed. This is going to be a tough one. I follow the nice lady, (past blank screen $100 girl), to the Hosts office in high limit and have a seat.

Side Note: This is the only host office.

If you want to use your RC to pay a resort fee, this is where you need to go. They want to “make sure you get all the backend comps you deserve”, but that’s where they might also tell you in a (still trying to decide if it was), condescending (?) tone that your last two trips play isn’t even enough Theo for a one night comp.

Tipped her $10, bless her heart, for applying the RC - it covered both nights resort fees.

FYI: Can’t do it any other way.
Why would anyone possibly want to do that from the in room checkout?
What could be more simple than heading back into the casino, waiting, and trying to find and talk to a host when you are trying to check out..

The feeling doesn’t sit so good as we walk out through a stone dead casino. :grrr:

Back to Find the FP, cont.
2c. Attendant takes ripped blank ticket stub to HL cashier, who cashed it
2d. Since I have her attention, ask attendant if she knows anything about the FP I couldn’t see.
She vanished into the back for a while and tells me she’s not sure, check w ID desk tomorrow.

3. Dutifully show at ID desk to inquire next day.
Desk lady informs me I USED this offer in June,
also the point chasing bonus whatever (#) needs to be earned within 48 hours of activation.

All Ps $5 HL play has cumulatively got us almost to the threshold.
Looks like we’ll never hit it.
Definitely not going to chase it for the what, $10/25 you probably shockingly get.

What we’ve learned- if you’ve used the $75 FP before, it’s a one time use.

Apparently means nothing if it disappears and reappears....

I guess I’ve found Cosmos version of CET NO COM offers.

Hmm. What else?

No more free cold water at valet checkout, but tipping a $5 will make your valet offer and run get you 2 bottles.

Did I mention I repaired their faucet drain plug handle (stuck closed) for them free?
CalVidVegasOMG 147.JPG

And the no ashtray thing.

Cocktail service ?

Practically BYO.

(Retracted at least re: Cal waitresses. They were hustling. )

Minis, flasks and tallboys recommended.

Cal beer selection, gonna try the LV lager, .05%.

CalVidVegasOMG 400.JPG

thought I put tasting notes somewhere but :

I'm more an IPA than a Lager fan, this lager was smooth, flavorfull, and absolutely wonderful ice cold out the fridge when heading out.
Best lager I can remember (because I don't usually drink them), had a craft microbrew mouthfeel and flavor.

not going to try to elaborate, there were hints of menthol cigarette, because I'd usually be smoking one,
while sipping this fine brew that indisputably stands head and shoulders over its neighboring macros. (despite it's positioning)
