    My Trip Report

Normally, I'm frugal. This trip, I'm cheap.
Saw the airfare special: Philadelphia to Las Vegas for a full week in February: $128. On Spirit Airlines. Of course, those of us that have dealt with Spirit Airlines (or Frontier, or Allegiant) all know that if you want to pick a seat, bring a bag, cough, etc, that it will cost you more. In fact I've priced it out several times and found the fare is basically the same as real airlines but the service is worse once you factor in all of those things. So, I decided, NO. I will not pay more than $128 for my airfare. I will get the seat assigned to me at the airport. I will only take my CPAP bag and a small bag that can fit under my seat (for a week! Really!!). Well, I'll see how it works out.
I did rent a car via www.autoslashers.com. $167 for the full week. A full size. Nice promo with Advantage. I find Advantage as acceptable as Spirit...so we'll see about this, also.
Free rooms at 4 different hotels...each for 2 nights. But, with a tiny gym bag that basically holds socks, underwear, t-shirts and 2 alternate shirts, I can easily jump hotels.
    BR for the week $3,000.
Why so cheap? I'm going on a 2 week cruise (with a casino) and a third week in Europe next month. I wasn't planning on spending ANYTHING in Vegas...but it was only $128. How could I resist?

Car always is a worthwhile investment to save $ in Las Vegas. Mrs. Azlefty always enjoys a stop at Savers and several Walmart runs during our weekly visits (as does her husband). You can buy what you need and bring it to Goodwill on your way to the airport for the flight home. also, restaurants outside casino walls generally cost much less than inside.

Looking forward to following along - I hope you have fantastic luck! I took spirit on my last Vegas trip --- it wasn't as bad as I had feared.

Congratulations! The maximum dimensions of a personal item is 18 x 14 x 8. Maybe you could get a bigger bag and pack an extra pair of pants and a toothbrush! Have a great trip.

You can buy your toiletries at a CVS, just a thought.

On our upcoming trip my brother and I are going for 4 1/2 days.

We also will not be checking any luggage.

Your bankroll is 10x your airfare, car and lodging expenses.

What's the joke about the guy who asks a stranger for $10 to get something to eat, and the stranger says, "how do I know you're not just gonna take that money and gamble it away." and the guy says, "Oh, no...I've GOT gambling money..."

    Have a great trip!

I could see this with a bankroll of $300. But with a bankroll of $3000, I would probably just bump that down to $2800 or $2900 and travel in comfort.

I did make a mistake. The bank roll is $2,000. (I forgot that I have to buy a new mattress.) $2,000 for a week is not much...especially when your games are craps and $1 vp.
My toiletries kit will fit in with my CPAP so I'm set there.
I do drink a pot of decaf every morning so I will stop at Walmart and pick up a coffee machine and a pound of coffee for $10 each. I'll bring filters from home. This is my usual. At the end I leave the machine for the maid as a tip.

The Philadelphia Eagles won in the play-off game last night. That means that they're going to the Super Bowl. I don't know sports. When someone asks me a question dealing with sports I always have the same reply, "Is that the game played with a round ball or the funny shaped ball."
That being said. My cheap airfare is going to have me in Las Vegas during the Super Bowl. I'd like to make a $20 bet on my team to win but I don't know how to do this. Can I make this bet at South Point on Sunday morning? I will be arriving very late on Saturday. Can I watch the game there...comfortably? If not, where should I go? I have been to Super Bowl parties at friends' homes but really only watched the commercials. Oh, and yes, I'm a real person. :) I even go to the gym 3 times a week. I just don't like group sports...I was a fat kid.

South Point has a very nice large sports book. No problem with placing a bet before the game starts. I don't think getting a seat would be a problem, but I've never been there during the Super Bowl. Every bar in the place will also have the game on with decent VP.

I think the Eagles have this one bump that bet up to $200.

South Point will have some kind of viewing party going on I'm sure so ask about that option when you get settled in..And remember there are a couple ways to place the wager on Philly,Taking the +5.5 points or taking the MoneyLine and the Eagles HAVE to win,but pays more.
Best Wishes and FLY EAGLES FLY !!!

Can I go up to the window and say, "$20 on the Eagles and a separate bet of $20 on the Eagles-moneyline."?
This is exciting! I never watched a sporting event with money on the line. 40 years of gambling and not one sports bet.

So the Vegas money line opened at Eagles +215 and New England -255. That means a $100 bet on the Birds would yield $215 and a $255 bet on New England would win $100. (Do I have that right?)

I just saw that Stations has the money line at Eagles +185 and New England at -230.
