    My Trip Report

finally will find a little time to post a trip report, for a trip to attend the clothing trade shows, primarily, although we found a little time for a concert, some nice meals, and a meet.

stayed at the rio, 47 a night for the three nights, sunday the 16th through to wednesday morning. no room available at checkin about 10 am, slow checkin line, and then slow again when we went to the key pickup later that day. room was just ok, bed was nice in a room in the ipanema tower. casino was blah as well, malfunctioning shuffler machines, smartaleck but not very funny dealers, just could not get anything going gambling there, not for lack of trying. drink service average minus, just nothing to brag about anywhere there.

after trying to check in, and then checking the bags, made way over to the venetian, where wife had went directly to shop a trade show, met her for lunch at grand luxe, had the asian nachos, still as good as advertised, and a lunch salad for me and a carolina pulled pork sandwich for her. grand luxe fine as always, service and refills, and those huge portions. shopped some more, back to the rio for checkin, and a cab to Mandalay Bay. drink at red square, wife had a raspberry something martini, it had some flavor to it, my choice wasnt so good, though the gin and tonic that followed helped. played a little, then went to the house of blues for the STYX concert.

tommy and the boys played for an hour and 50 minutes, went hard the whole time, sound was great, we had tickets in the balcony with an obstructed view of the left side of the stage, but could see on the TVs pretty well. try to sit downstairs, or balcony center, if seeing the whole show is important. thoroughly enjoyed the concert, but headed out as the played the second encore song, which i think was a led zeppelin tune, and beat the crowd to the tram, to excal, then through the place and over to nyny, and had a steak at gallaghers. after 10 at night, not nearly as crowded, and therefore loud, as the other time we had eaten there, good steak, and good salmon for the wife, sides were good, too late for a bottle of wine, looking over the wine list seemed to be on the high end for pricing and value.

next day, trade show at the rio, worked there until 8 pm. though the wine and cheese they served at 6 helped the mood, and the shopping, quite a bit. the trade show also served a continental breakfast and lunch, so it was about 9 when we had dinner at RUB the barbecue place in the rio. i had the burnt tips, wife a half rack. portions not over the top, thats ok, and service had a little bit of urban, dont give a shit if i really help you, be grateful for what you get, kind of edge to it. meal tasted good, but to go into too much detail, i tasted it until 1 the next afternoon, and it wasnt so good as it went on...thumbs down to RUB.

tuesday, over to the magic trade show at lvcc, had a few appointments, played at the hilton a little, mostly paigow, but again never got anything big going. back over to the rio, wife went back to the trade show at rio, i went to mcfaddens pub, for a scheduled meet.

sorry we missed you ksushaq, and larry sanono surfer tried hard, but ultimately the meet was me and ken2v. what a great guy, interesting, lives what appears to be the life, but can see that the research for those books really is work, too. anyway, we had a couple of pints, chatted away for better than an hour. very much enjoyed myself, and thanks ken for making it to the meet, look forward to seeing you again another trip, or when you come to play the golf courses of montana. ha.

met up with the bride, over to the palms for our last night, had dinner at gardunos. great service, reasonable for las vegas prices, will go back there again. played around the palms for a couple hours, lost a couple hundred, enough of that. back to the rio, flight leaves at 7am, be at the airport at 5. between the cell phone alarm, the room alarm clock, and the wake up call, the wake up call is the one that worked.

flew home, got in the car at the airport and drove 120 miles away from home to the district high school basketball tourney. bittersweet, the youngest's high school basketbal career is now over...but now i get to look forward to montana state bobcat football and washington state cougar basketball for the next few years.

next trip for sure will be the end of august for the clothing trade shows, but sure hoping to get one other one worked in for play in between, never got to sit into a poker game, never got to gamble for any extended period, just too much else to do.

if you get a chance to meet people from this board, do. thanks for reading. kitson
