You are correct on the direction...west not north. They discontinued the diamond “happy hour” a while ago at the 3535 bar at the Linq. It was a nice perk, the drinks were first rate

I called him at 10:30 and woke him up and he seemed to be in a disheveled state. Apparently he had been out gambling until 4:30 this morning and had a few too many cocktails. I was able to pick him up by the valet area at Harrah's and he looked like a train wreck. On the way downtown he related the goings on last night. He was playing in the Pho's high limit room and there was a guy sitting next to him. After playing for a while he had to take a bathroom break; he cashed out but left his player's card in the machine and aske the guy sitting next to him to watch his machine while he went to the bathroom. A few minutes later Dave came back and starting playing again and the guy next to him left shortly after. He played for over an hour and decided to stop since he had reached his 1000 tier point goal. It was then that he realized that there was someone else's card in his machine. Apparently the guy next to him had taken out Dave's card while he was in the bathroom and replaced it with another person's card. He estimated that he had put on a little over 400 tier points since his bathroom break. He called over a slot attendant who called a "suit" and then spent the next hour explaining what had happened and how he could get back his points. They reviewed the tapes and he should be able to get credit for his play, but it is going to take a few weeks. Vegas certainly has it's share of dirty bastards walking around. Obviously, he was very upset about what had happened.

Anyway, we arrived at the Four Queens a little after noon time and there was already two guys waiting in line for the Super Bowl party; the doors did not open until 2:45pm. We played some video poker and at one point I was down almost $200 before making a comeback and cashing out only $50 down. We got in line for the SB party an hour before the doors opened and there were at least 50 people ahead of us. We got our wrist bands and received a Super Bowl hat and T-shirt as a gift. We grabbed a table and then got in line for the buffet. I was surprised how nice the buffet was. They had salad with all the fixings, an assortment of various lunch meats and several different kinds of breads for sandwiches, hamburgers, hot dogs, brats, chicken wings, batter fried cheese curds and lots more. There was a bucket of beer at each table and the cocktail waitresses came by regularly to take and deliver your free drink order. I was a little dismayed on how many people stiffed the CW's by not tipping. Come on people, you are getting to watch the game on big screen TV's, all the food you can stuff your face with, free booze and you can't part with a lousy buck for your drink? I was disappointed that they allowed smoking in the room, but was most put off with the cigar smokers at the table next to ours. If I get another invitation in the future I am going to have some official looking signs made up that say "No smoking" and place them at my table and the surrounding tables...just to see if I can get away with it. I bet on the Patriots and the over so I won one and lost one bet and lost $1.80 on the game. I checked on my football board square at the Gate; my numbers were 4 and 8 so I didn't win any money, but if was fun having my name on the board and a chance to win some cash..

Dave and I played some video poker using my player's card to boost my play at the casino. Dave did well cashing out with a $200 profit. However, I could not get anything going and lost $200. We took a stroll down FSE which was packed with people and ended up at Binion's at the bar at the west side of the casino. I refer to it as "John's bar" because of one of the bartenders who works there regularly...he is a good guy. There we met several of our Vegas regulars: Boston Matt, All Day Ray, his lady friend Miss Elizabeth and a couple of other people. We talked and laughed for a long time before I decided to call it a night and head back to Bally's. Dave is going to use my room at the Four Queens tonight before moving to the Golden Gate tomorrow.

I stopped at the lobby bar at Bally's for a glass of Craggy Range wine before heading to my room. I decided to have a beer and opened my in room refrigerator only to find that everything inside it was frozen solid. I will have to call maintenance to address the problem in the morning. I thoroughly looked at the refrigerator and there is nothing inside of the unit to adjust the temperature. It is bolted inside the cabinet so I can't pull it out to see if there is nob or dial on the backside. I just received a text from Dave and he forgot to get his money out of the in room safe at Harrah's this morning. He was using a room that a friend of ours had booked and has another person staying there tomorrow. He will have to get things straightened out in the morning. Tomorrow is going to be a non-gambling day as I am going to try and put 1000 tier points on my CET card on Tuesday. If things go well, I will try and shoot for a 2,500 point day....a lot of grinding.

6E8F52F2-0F5B-438A-8117-809E11DB9AE0.jpeg Well today was a pretty quiet one. I went over and made my donation at the Buddhist shrine at Caesars and then went over and toured the Bellagio Conservatory for their Chinese New Year display. They did another excellent job. There was mobs of people enjoying the exhibit and it took some doing to get some photos without someone standing or moving through my shot. I was on my way to the Flamingo when Dave called me and said he was in the process of moving to the Gate. I drove downtown and picked him up and we drove and parked at the Palazzo to meet a friend of ours, Tim, for lunch at Segundo Del Sol restaurant at the Fashion Show Mall. Dave had some coupons to use for the meals. There was some "fine print" attached so we did not get the big discount that Dave said we would get, but they did knock off a good chunk of the bill after some haggling with our waitress. The food and service was great. They offer a deal once a month or so where you can sign up for a cooking class for lunch. I did that last summer and had a good time, as well as eating some great Mexican food.

Dave and I drove back downtown to the Gate, but his room was still not ready. We wandered down around FSE then decided to have a beer at Hogs and Heifers Saloon. The place was full of people for a Monday afternoon ...a lot of people still in town after the Super Bowl. Three of the female bartenders recognized me as soon as I walked in to joint and soon we had beers in front of us and laughing and trash talking to them. They again danced on the bar to the great delight of the patrons, and the bar had a lot of energy. I was surprised how packed they were for a Monday afternoon.

We walked back down to the Gate and Dave finally got his room. We briefly paid "homage" to Valeria at the bar and then drove back down to the Strip and sat at Bally's lobby bar. The first round was a glass of Craggy Range wine and then we decided to try a cocktail called the French 75. This stuff was pretty good. I knew the history of this cocktail and the bartender talked about it was he was preparing it......delicious. We then had a beer at the sports bar a Paris, complements of some free sports bets tickets from our buddy Tim and it was back to the lobby bar at Bally's for one last French 75.

Dave headed to the bus stop to go back to the Gate and I packed it in for the evening. All in all a pretty laid back day.....I'll take it. Tomorrow I plan to hit the Pho's high limit room and pound out some serious tier points in the morning and then meet Dave downtown to eat at Le Thai again. After that, who knows...after all we are in Vegas.

The guy in the photo was “resting his eyes” at the Bally’s lobby bar.

You can also go to Paris Champagne slots..they have a 25c 100-play 7/5 bonus poker..you can play it for as little as 1 hand ($1.25 a shot)..it’s probably the best point grinding machine in CET Vegas. (Aside from a heatwave/aftershock $1 5-line slot at flamingo and harrahs)

Yesterday, I awoke to an overcast, cold, dreary day here in Vegas with intermittent drizzle; which set the mood for the day I guess. I grabbed a breakfast sandwich at Nosh and walked over to the Pho high limit room to start my quest for 1000 and possible 2500 tier points; with CET's February promo I can double the points to maintain my diamond status. Things started out well enough and at one point I was up $200 midway to my 1000 point goal. Then the roof caved in and I went "card dead". My surplus soon vanished as did my buy in. I recharged the machine with hundys as I was close to my goal. I made it to 1000 points, but it cost me $600. I have played at a certain machine several times before and it has always been good to me, giving four Royals in the past two years. I didn't even come close to that today. I'll be back at Bally's next week so I'll give it another shot. On my way back to Bally's I decided to risk another $100 in the machine that TIMSPEED mentioned. I played 7/5 BP, five lines at a time, and the machine kicked me while I was already down; another hundy went into CET's coffers.

I walked over to Harrah's diamond lounge and had to wait about ten minutes to get in. The food offerings were pretty good today. I had a Caesar salad and some chicken Alfredo with garlic toast with a tasty side car cocktail. I again ran into my Vegas friends Linda and Rich and chatted with them for a while and then departed for home. I face chatted with my daughter in law and grandson back home in Minnesota and they were experiencing another heavy snowfall around 8 inches of the white stuff along with single digit temperatures. I read in my room for some time and then fell asleep at 10 o'clock.......I'm a real party animal.

Today I move back downtown to the Gate and meet up with Dave who is staying there until Thursday. I plan on another non gambling day and will give the Gate some play tomorrow on the 8/5 BP machines and VP at the bar's Muppet seats while talking to Valeria. I have not been down to the Container Park in a few years so I'll have to check that out and see if I can find the new location of the Gambler's General Store as I see that it is not longer on Main street. I'll probably pop into Hogs and Heifers for a beer or two and chat with the female bartenders. Not the most exciting of itineraries. but I am enjoying myself being in Vegas and away from the realities and cold weather at home.

I was given room 217 which faces Main St and has a large bathroom, twice the size of their standard model which is about the size of a phone booth. It was early afternoon so Dave and I walked down and had lunch at Le Thai again. They have a lunch special menu for 10 bucks that includes your drink. I got adventurous and ordered the level 2 spiciness. The food was good but my eyes started to water and my nose started to run. During lunch Dave related a hooker incident from last night. He was playing the full pay BP progressives around the corner from the main gambling area when he was approached by a good looking hooker. He turned down her offers for her company but she sat down next to him and told him that if he put some money in the machine so that she could play, then he could "feel her up". Dave had to do a double take on the proposition mumbling something about he was trying to concentrate on his game. She then shrugged and walked away looking for another client......Vegas.We walked to the downtown container park to check it out. The place was a ghost town; no shoppers. This was probably the coldest day that I have experienced in over 60 trips to Vegas. The temperatures were in the low 40's, but blustery winds made it feel a lot colder. I was wearing a flannel shirt, but wished I had brought along my jacket and gloves. We continued our walk down past the old Western casino to Atomic Liquors, but the place did not open until four o'clock so we did an about face and ducked inside El Cortez to warm up before heading to the Downtown Grand as Dave had some free play and I wanted to obtain a win/loss statement for 2018.

We then ducked into Hogs and Heifers for a couple of brews. There was a couple of women sitting at the bar next to us with their husbands. All of a sudden the one lady took a dive off of her stool hitting her head on the bar rail and crashing to the floor. Getting her back upright took some doing as she was very drunk. She was able to walk out of the bar with the help of her husband and sat on a bench outside for a while to clear her head. The female bartenders danced atop the bar a few times and Dave and I had a lot of laughs with them...they love wearing my fedora. We ended back at the Gate in our usual Muppet seats and Dave and I played on my card so that I could give them some sizable play. Around 9:30 we stopped and walked over to Andiamos restaurant at the D and sat at the bar. We each had a bowl of lobster bisque and their mega meatball. The bisque was very good, but I wish that it was a little warmer. The meatball was huge and delicious. I used my food comp and paid the rest with my points... great meal and the bartender was very friendly. I called it a night after that and Dave continued to gamble.

Yesterday I slept in late, made a pot of coffee and read for a while in my room. Dave finally came by my room to stash his bags for a brief while until he had to catch the WAX to the airport. He usually avails himself of the food and wine selections at the Centurion Lounge at the airport so he didn't want to have lunch. We sat at the bar and talked to our bartender Valeria and then it was time for Dave to leave. I saw him off at the bus stop and then picked up my car at the Valet and drove to Fluff and Fold Laundry to pick up my clothes. They did a nice job and my clothes were neatly folded. If I ever have another prolonged Vegas stay, they surely will get my business.

I arrived at Hogs and Heifers right before the end of happy hour and stayed way too long. I did several shots with the female bartenders and had several beers to boot. I didn't stagger out of there until nearly 9 o'clock and got some drunk food at White Castle....I was desperately hungry. I grabbed a large glass of ginger ale from the bartender Luis and crashed in the room for the night. Thank God for my pharmaceuticals last night and this morning.

The guys at the Valet were sorry to see me go....I'm a good tipper and they always treat me right. Traffic was light for the drive down to Laughlin, my home for the next two days. I have a 14th floor river view room in the central tower. I made a beer and chips run to Walmart across the river and spent the afternoon having a couple of Buds and some Four Roses bourbon in the room while I continue to wade through my book about World War I. Tomorrow I plan to take the water taxi down to the Aquarius and do a little gambling, visit the Harrah's diamond lounge later and hope to meet up with Rich and Tim who are down here for the weekend. Tomorrow night I might treat myself to dinner at the Range steakhouse and do some more gambling. I've had an itchy and stuffy nose today along with some sneezing... I hope I am not coming down with a cold.
