Another reason people try to come up with conversion strategies to max out the freeplay is because you think of it as a small amount in comparison to your overall bankroll, so you kind of isolate it in your mind. And when you do that, you know that variance can eat that small amount right up, so you think about playing it more conservatively.

You want to run through the freeplay and try to max out your cash from it, because once you've converted it to real cash, and then play that real cash through, you're at least earning comps on it.

And other people just go have one pull on a $500 slot.

that's very true. if you just convert promos to cash, then play the cash as if it were promos, you'll earn comps on that play instead of earning $0 comps on the promo play. very smart.

I guess. But, how much comps is playing $900 through really worth? Anybody getting $900 in freeplay is already putting a ton of cash into play in the first place.

    Okay, color me slow/thick/short bus/naive/etc.

never hurts to add more play. also, sometimes you win a bunch of promos in a tournament or something and if you do choose to gamble with it, that's a good way to get your money's worth.

the advantage to just playing the promos is that when you win, you keep the promos, but of course you have to bet them again. so if you get on a heater with some promos you can turn that money into way more cash than they were originally worth. a couple of years ago i got $800 in promos from the B and turned it into about $5k before i lost the last chip.

It's not huge, but it's something. You can quantify it, in theoretical terms.

Just real back-of-the-envelope, the freeplay offers I get normally are about 10% of what I would do as coin-in on machines in a day, if I only played machines.

So let's say you manage to cash out 90% of the freeplay. Take that and add it to your coin-in for that day, you've increased your coin-in for that day by 9%.

Spread that over a 3 day stay and you've increased your ADT, Tier Credits, slot points, and Express Comps for the stay by 3%.

But I don't think there's anything wrong with just adding freeplay to your stake and playing it normally, or with using it on something high variance either.
