    My Trip Report

82 blissfully blissful solo hours were mine, all mine, to do what I wanted, when I wanted, and how I wanted in beautiful Las Vegas!

This was my 15th visit to Vegas and my sixth time staying at Plaza. As previously, I could not have been more happy or appreciative of the kindness extended to me by Gary and the entire team at Plaza.

    Sat 6/2:

A few months ago I signed up for TSA pre-check. That was smooth, despite wearing a full length leg brace due to recent ACL surgery. They asked if I could take the brace off and place on conveyor belt, easy enough, and went right on through. Flew in via United EWR-LAS, flight was ok, arrived on time no issue (11:20 am). A car had been sent from Plaza and was there and ready when I got in. So off we went. The driver, Jesse, was super friendly and nice.

Check in was a breeze, no line no issues. When I got to the room I found there was no coffee maker (this was a first there) so I called the desk and asked if it was possible to get one and just like that, one appeared.

After getting settled I decided that it was time to get out on Fremont. After reading so much about these Silver Strikes, I was on a mission to get one. Before leaving for Vegas I read up on where the SS machines were, so I headed straight to 4-Q’s and alas, this first machine I get to was out of order. So I continued to Pizza Rock for a quick cocktail and bite.

From there I went to El Co. I had $25 FP so I used that on their SS machine, without success. I then went to play DD BJ, which went very well. After my session, I decided to throw $20 more into the SS machine. When I got to it, I could see that the last person playing it had won a Strike. Figured, I would be out of luck but $7 in I won one.

After leaving El Co, I decided to make my way to the DT Event Center b/c the GK’s were playing (not in Vegas). Even though the game was not a success, it was fun to be there and feel the excitement in the air! (I took a small video but can't seem to upload it).

After some time, I made my way back to Plaza, sat at the $25 DD BJ game and began to get my butt kicked. After losing a substantial amount of my bank roll for my short trip, I moved to the $10 shoe game and won back all that was lost at DD game, plus some. It was about 2:15am when I decided to call it done. Feeling incredibly hungry I decided to finally get to the Cal to try the Ox-tail soup. It was delicious!

    Sunday 6/3:

I am a member of another LV group and they were having a large meet up at Carnaval Court Sunday evening. So with that, I decided to spend the day on the strip. At the very last minute I was able to get a room at Harrah’s (Valley View), which was really nice. I did not stay in it overnight but used it to rest/ice my leg during the day. Surgery was only 2.5 weeks prior.

Having read so much about the Sterling Brunch at Bally’s, I had decided it would be a good use for my Diamond Celebration certificate, so I had previously made a noon reservation. I was not disappointed at all. I also decided, since I was on the strip, I would use one of my “free” (let’s face it free is never free, especially when it’s from a casino, lol) show tickets. So I went to see the show Paranormal at Bally’s. I have to admit, it was rather impressive and mind boggling. Throughout the day I played at all the “local” CET properties, making deposits at each one I visited.

I got to the meet up around 845pm hung out, met some people, then went to Harrah’s and again played DD BJ. I could not seem to get my game going, so back to Plaza I went. I played just a little DD BJ there, then went to bed.

    Monday 6/4:

Traditionally, I work midnights, so my sleep cycles are always crazy, plus coming from the east, my internal clock is all out of whack. So needless to say, I was up early. Back to the BJ table I go, nothing special happened, lol. Since it was early and no one was playing (and I am still trying to get a handle on the wagering) I played Craps for a while. It is such a fun game, even though I lost my money. I have to say, the Craps dealers at Plaza are so darn nice and helpful! After losing at Plaza I went back to El Co and had a good session. Grabbed the off menu steak special for lunch and left.

I have been wanting to go to the Healing Garden near the Arts District so I hoped on the Loop Shuttle and got there, easy peasy. Previously I had read about a gentleman that maintains the garden area, he was there when I got there. So I chatted with him a bit and just walked around. You can’t help but feel heavy hearted there. My youngest sister was at the festival that night and although she was physically unharmed, aside from being trampled on, I fear she will never be the same. The woman she and her friend went to the hospital with was one of the 58 victims and seeing her picture on the wall there made it more surreal. God bless all the those involved and their families.

I had planned to hobble around the arts district a while but I was just not prepared for the 108 weather. So I Looped back to Plaza. I decided best to elevate/ice (I brought my Polar care with me) the leg so I put on the Knights game and the next thing I knew I woke up and it was 12:30am, oops.

    Tuesday 6/5:

Being that I would be leaving 11:55pm I did not want to lose any more valuable Vegas time. So I quickly threw myself together and got back on that casino floor. Again, I went to the BJ table only to give them some money back. By now it was just about 4 am (I think) so I grabbed a healthy McDonalds breakfast then headed to MSS. I love the idea of a $5 DD BJ. Getting your ass kicked? Kick it down to $5, doing great? Ramp it up to $100 +. I bought in with $200, played about 2 hours and cashed out with $1100. Not too bad, if you ask me.

Another Bucket list item for me has been Lapperts Ice Cream, so yea, 6 am and I am finally checking that of my bucket list. I can say, I will be back.

I decided to try and seek out another SS machine at 4Q’s. Found one plopped $20 in played down to $7 got a Strike, took my $7 TITO put it in another machine and turned it into $47.

Today, the same group I was meeting at CC was having a pool meet and greet at Plaza. Interestingly, a member of that group was blessed to hit the 1.4 mill at GG earlier in the morning, lucky lady! She very generously gave the party host money for our group to use for drinks/snacks from the bar during our pool meet up. That was much appreciated by all!

After achieving a substantial sunburn, I split out of there. I played a bit at Plaza, then headed to MSS. Again, $10 DD BJ, got into a game with the nicest group of men. They were a group of 22 on a golf get away. They were so much fun! Anyway, gaming went well and when it turned, I knew it was time to go. Went to Triple 7, ate. Then went back to Plaza. Played some more, strolled Fremont one more time, till next time. Loaded in to the Plaza car and just like that, got on the plane and woke up in Newark, NJ.

In the end, for all the up/down/up/down of my gaming, I came home $800 ahead. So no complaining there. If I am not mistaken, 14 of my 15 trips have been fruitful (wish I had such great luck in AC). So now, I am planning for a November quickie. Viva Las Vegas!

As usual, if you made it to the end, you are pretty awesome. Thanks for reading

    Nice report!

But betting $5-$100 in BJ? You get any questionable looks for that from the pit?

I can't deny, I seem to get check played a bit, at certain locations.

I play consistently but when it comes to wagering, I seem to do so more on emotion.

I really enjoyed your report. Thank you for taking the time to share your trip with us. It seemed you ate your oxtail soup at the Market St. Cafe's counter area. It's great for solo travelers because there's no wait. As long as there is an empty seat you don't have to wait for the host.

Nice to hear that your Vegas trips are fruitful gambling wise. Wish I could say the same, lol!

    Thanks again for sharing.

    Great trip report, @Happygirl21.
Congrats on the Silver Strikes. We used to collect them back in the early 2000s when the machines
were at just about all the casinos.
It was like a little treasure hunt trying to get a new one from the different places.

Food pics are making me hungry. Everything looks tasty.
You sure got around and a lot done, even being in a state of mending only 2.5 weeks out.
I applaud you! I hope you're healing well and moving around more easily.

    I read every word!

You helped me a lot. I always stay downtown, and I have been considering changing to the Plaza.

You helped me make up my mind.

    Thank you!

How was the Sterling Brunch? I made a reservation for August since I've never been. And where might one find those meatballs?

Hey there @bshowell , by no means am I a "foodie" but I will say I was very pleased with the Sterling Brunch. They had lobster tails, king crab, filet mignon, oysters, an amazing salmon dish, rack of lamb and other items. Everything was very enjoyable.

I'm not sure how it happened, but I totally missed the dessert area. However, the server noticed this and actually brought me a plate with a variety of desserts on it. They also had endless champagne flowing.

Would I go again? It's hard to say. Before the tip it was $105 and like I mentioned, I used my DC voucher, so it was a great deal, IMO..

As for the meatballs, I was at Pizza Rock downtown. Can't go wrong there!

Enjoyed all your details....I meant to get to the garden last trip but it was so hot. Thanks for the details.
Glad the Plaza worked out for you! I am phasing out the D, so may do some seed $$ there and see what happens!

Your report was a wonderful summary of your trip. You deserve a lot of credit with the walking you got in after only 2 1/2 weeks from surgery on your leg.
