Sat - Three senior ladies flying from Charlotte to Vegas. My sister & I go every year & this time had friend (Virginia) with us. Good flight on US Air (pm). Took shuttle to Fitzgeralds, checked in & then gambled for awhile. I stayed about even.

Sun - Went to Benions for breakfast. Gambled a little there and at Fitzgerald's with no good hits (I play mostly deuces wild vp). We shuttled to Sam's Town where I had much bettr luck. Hit 4 deuces for $250. and a few smaller payoffs. Virginia played slots for several hours on $10. Not sure how sis did, she gets a little grumpy if not winning so I tend to keep my distance. Back to downtown to show Virginia the pool at Golden Nugget (nice) & the "BIG" nugget itself.

I planned in advance basically what we would do each day & had planned to eat dinner at Bay City diner (Golden Gate). Had been there quite a few times to the Deli & had always missed seeing the diner. Was pleased with food (don't remember what I had but it must have been good!). I'm not a picky eater so it has to really be bad for me to complain.

Gambled more at Plaza (no luck) & Fitzgeralds (no luck)

Mon - Back to Bay City diner for breakfast (my treat since I had the biggest payoff the day before). Enjoyable meal/good price.

Checked out & the cabbed to Orleans. Got checked in early & immediately headed for the casino. Had played a little here before but did not realize just how large the place is. Took me a couple of days to get familiar with the setup. We kept checking on Virginia because she had a mini-stroke about 4 wks ago and didn't know exactly how much she was effected by this. First few days were iffy but got better later. Once, we caught her playing a penny slot..........1 penny at a time!! Convinced her to up her bet. Later, when I checked on her (playing .5 slot), I convinced her to cash in to the tune of $514. Another time it was $54. on .25 slot.
I hit several small payoffs & sis was grumpy again. Ate dinner at "Fridays" and it was O.K.

Tues - Got something (?) at the little deli/pastry stand in the casino for breakfast & then later got a hotdog (.99 cent) at same place (good). Gambled here all morning & then shuttled to strip. Had to show Virginia some sites (stayed at Dunes the last time she went; lots of changes since then). First to Bellagio to see the million dollar chandelier & conservatory. Also, the fountain show started just as we were entering the hotel so she got to see that. Gambled a little here & cashed in a few dollars. Back over to Bill's to see Big Elvis. Have seen him so many times that I now just watch the screen showing the real Elvis. Great show as usual. Even with his weight loss he's still "BIG Elvis". Up to O'Shea's to the food court & saw the "little person" out front & forgot to take a picture! Did I say it was HOT outside!! Back to Orleans where we spent the rest of the day gambling. Winning, losing, winning, losing, etc.

Wed - Spent the entire day gambling at Orleans. Had planned to spend a portion of each day at the pool but never got there. Did not want to give up time from casino & we can also go to a pool at home. I took $350. in cash & $1,000. travelers cks for the trip. I finally went into my travelers cks on Wed. am. Cashed $200., but then won off of that so did not have to cash more. Planned to spend a certain amount each day in the high rollers section & each time came out a few dollars ahead. Dinner at the buffet. Charged to room because I had a $25. food coupon) Also had $25. casino play on which I won $25. cash. Good!

(I'm at work & running out of time!!).

Thurs - Had a flight at 11:30am & shuttle pickup scheduled for 9am - Never showed up - called & they said shuttle had broken down. Took cab & got reimbursed for shuttle at the airport. Right before leaving the hotel, played a vp machine & hit $50. on 1st pull. YAHOO!

Hotels - Good room at Fitzgeralds WITH A COFFEE POT! Sat - $69 Sun $39. Very pleased with Orleans (and coffee pot). Mon- $40. (they matched Expedia) Tues & wed. - comped. Will definately be staying here again.

Sorry if I rambled too much, trying to finish before I leave work. Good trip - came home with little over $1,000. To me, thats a winner!

that is so cute!! i love how you opened up with "three senior ladies"... and yes coming home with $1000.00 would definately put you in the WINNERS category!! thanks for a great trip report...

by the way i see people writing about 'big elvis' all the time. Who is he and where is he at?

Aloha,
Kel

You mean this fella?
Oops it didnt show but the links there.

"Big Elvis"

Big Elvis is Pete Vallee, performing at Bill's Gambling Hall (formerly Barbary Coast). Think the show times are now Mon - Fri 3p - 6p. Almost always ends up being standing room only if you don't get there about 30 min prior.

Yeah........we're classified as seniors only because of age. There must have been having a convention at Orleans because all of a sudden I saw oodles of people exiting a room. Thought to myself "My God, there's an awful lot of OLD people here". Then I remembered, Oops!, I'm one of those OLD people. Never, ever, plan to retire. They'll just have to wheel me out of the office.

I previously worked for Eastern Airlines (22yrs) & went to Vegas approx. 5 times/yr. (sometimes just to spend the day) but now that I'm paying I'm down to once/yearly.

Last item..........while in Orleans, saw Trace Siegfried (Siegfried & Roy) walk through the casino.

Congrats on hitting the 4 deuces. I know what it's like to have someone in your party that gets grumpy when they're not winning. It sounds like you ladies had a very nice trip.
