Played there yesterday, was just killing time. The 2 pits adjacent to poker room now have 6/5 with bad rules. Only 1 I can remember is "no surrender" dealer said there were 2 other new rules. Didn't even notice the little placard under the table information. As soon as I saw it, got up & left.

Fewer & fewer reasons to come to Vegas.

    That stinks.

Another reason why all my gambling is either offstrip or DT.

What was the table limit? How many decks?

Are you sure it was a shoe game?

They've had single (or double?) deck games in those pits with crappy 6/5 payouts forever.

I just played the 3-2 shoe game there last week with the standard liberal MGM rules.

I'm in the Mirage often. They always have a one/two 6/5 tables (6 deck shoes) for $10 min.

They also have at least one 3/2 6 deck game for $10 min. And they will have another $10 3/2 game with a CSM.

If having some 6/5 tables means they keep their other tables that have great rules at relatively low minimums, then I'm all for it! I have no problem with people who don't bother to pay attention / do research getting fleeced so that I can have better odds.

    It started yesterday

It was shoe with multiple decks. Dealer & PB both said that it is ALL Blackjack in those 2 pits from now on. Only place that BJ won't have those rules are the high limit & the other bank of table games, where the minimum is $25 a hand.

This all started yesterday. I do know the difference between a shoe game & a CSM.

    Disappointed

I usually play/stay the mirage. Hope the trend does not escalate .... may need a new casino.

This kind of depresses me if it's true.

First NYNY got rid of all their 3-2 shoes except ONE, now this.

Hopefully this sickness doesn't spread any further.

Mirage has dealt single or double deck 6:5 for at least 3 years.

I was there from 9/4-9/11. All the dealers mentioned that "new management" were putting in these changes to take effect Monday 9/9. All blackjack under $25/hand became 6:5 (although they had said it would be at every bet level, I saw tables after 9/9 that were $25 and up and still 3:2), there is no surrender, no even money on BJ when dealer shows an ace, and 6 deck shoes went up to 8 deck. Many of the dealers were very unhappy about it and having to learn new payouts, and they weren't shy about vocalizing their complaints to the customers lol.

One change I didn't like is that they got rid of the tables that lit up green and red that tell you if the dealer has a blackjack. They now use the little window to check the cards. They had to order cards with bigger numbers on them so the dealers could more easily see them. They had only received the cards with blue backs and not the red cards so they couldn't yet use their automatic shufflers and had to hand shuffle everything.

When BJ pays 6:5, and if they offered even money vs. an ace, then it would significantly be in the player's favor to take even money. You're effectively paying 1/5th of a bet for full insurance coverage instead of one-half of a bet.

It sucks that Mirage has apparently turned into the Quad with respect to blackjack rules.

Whoops. So much for all these card counters thinking of the end all be all. Casinos have been chipping away at the card counter's edge for a good while. Plus this also explains why blackjack is becoming less and less popular as time goes. Guess it's time for all these mathematical "geniuses" to stop copying and waiting for others and depend on themselves to devise method(s) to bypass the casino's attempt to render them neutral to the point of negative.

Advantage players have gone Beyond Counting long ago. We get the money by hole carding, edge sorting, steering, next carding, sequencing, shuffle tracking, etc.

Pit critters are sweating counters, while we sit a pound away at a flashing dealer unnoticed. We are always a few steps ahead.

Today's best opportunities do not look like those of yesterday.

    sigh

    Depressing.

I go to Vegas four to six times a year and it seems every trip the gambling conditions deteriorate. How can it get worse EVERY trip? Doesn't seem possible but it does.

I am just waiting for the first place to mess with the odds bets on craps. Mark my words, it will happen.
Oh, I'm booking that it will be CET! :grrr:

All these changes are for the new generation of money to use. They come in not knowing any better. Us that have been around longer still remember but our money is drying up as in not going as much, getting older, watching our spending more carefully, ect. Vegas changes for the new money just like they did with the kid friendly stuff. Worked for awhile and now only small reminders of it are left. Vegas is alot of things, stupit isn't one.
