    My Trip Report

Didn’t even want to pretend to do a live trip report because I knew I wouldn't follow through with it. Hate typing on the phone. But I got so much info from the board the couple weeks leading up to the trip that I wanted to return the favor, even though there probably won’t be a lot of new info here hopefully it may help someone with some info. Questions welcome.

This trip was originally scheduled with family coming from the Midwest to help celebrate my 50th. Family decided to bail and reschedule next year. My wife and I decided to go anyway and make the best of it. Just a little history for reference; we go to Vegas once or twice a year. She likes to play 5.00 LIR and Roulette. I play 25.00 BJ for the most part. We don’t typically go to shows or clubs. We mostly go to Vegas to gamble, drink, and eat as well as a hotel getaway from our teens. We aren’t the types that are worrying about the bug.

8/13 Day 1: My birthday! Flight from DFW to LAS on AA. Flight was about 2/3 full, most middles were open; however, my window had someone beside me. Wife’s window had no one in middle. Snacks served at entry in a bag consisting of a small bottle of water and some pretzels (these pretzels made me thirsty). Flight landed a few minutes early. Had a “premium” rental through Costco for 185.00 for 3 days. Got a Chrysler 300. Nice enough. We placed our order for the LVA coupon book from the car and drove over to Huntington to pick it up. We had also planned to “treasure hunt” at least one of the days.

Decided to park at NYNY and walk to Crack Shack for Lunch. NYNY was lively. It was 3:00 but still surprised at how few customers were there. Literally just 2 or 3 other people. Chicken was still as good as always. Fresh, hot and crunchy. Love this place. Trip off to a good start.

Headed to check-in at the Wynn. No Valet currently outside of Tower Suite and on up guests. Self-parked with no problem right by the door and headed in. Check in was fairly smooth. Got strip view on 27th floor. As most know, Wynn casino and common areas are very nice as is the room. Was immediately happy with decision to pay the extra 400.00 over 3 nights vs a comp at Flamingo. Checked the table limits and verified that we would not be doing much gambling there and headed down to our gambling hole which usually consists of bouncing around between Harrah’s, Casino Royale and Flamingo. Stopping at Walgreens Venetian for some drinks, then Walgreens Casino Royale for more drinks. Didn’t want to chance drink service not coming around for the first hour!!

Most probably know that the table pit at Casino Royale has been ripped out and replaced with all slots. Very sad. I almost teared up. So many great memories at the craps table and Blackjack Switch table. Vegas will never be the same for me. Had read here about bubble craps. I had always assumed there was a catch that raised the house odds vs regular craps but learned that wasn’t the case. CR has 2.00, 5x odds bubble craps. Not bad, not bad. Played for a while and cashed out up 100 or so. Fun start.

Headed to Harrah’s for wife to find her favorite LIR table. Still there. Never been anything other than 5.00 but now 10.00. She was ok with that and bought in. I headed to find Flamingo double deck but found one at Harrah’s instead. Not great rules but not terrible. I think it was a 15.00 table, at least when I started, 3-2, no DAS though. We played for several hours, lost, grabbed a slice at the Pizza and Cake place and went back to Casino Royale and each won some at bubble craps. Drink service at Harrah's and CR were respectable. No issues. Mask enforcement is no joke, especially at a table. Don't even try to go nose free (I didn't but others did). Elsewhere inside around slots and stuff security is fighting a losing battle but try their best. Yes the clientele is different, yes there are idiots on scooters who think it is your duty to move for them, yes there is lots of pot. But I found a harmonious camaraderie with most. Everyone just happy to be out of the house and having fun in Vegas.

Got to bed around 4am, down around 500.00.

Days 2 and 3 to follow

Can I ask what some of the tables minimums were at Wynn?

Roulette was 15.00 early in the day, moved to 25.00 late afternoon, then one would move to 50.00 in the evening. . Blackjack was 25.00 early but mostly 50.00 at night. Not sure about the other carnival games but I assume 25.00 is where they started at least late afternoon and on. They have no problems finding people to play their 50.00 mins either. Good for them. I did end up playing a couple hours of 50.00 BJ at Flamingo day 3. spoiler: didnt end well.

@ddj1x1 thanks for the trip report and happy birthday. I am north of 50 myself and cannot pretend I am not at least middle aged.

Since you are staying at the Wynn, its interesting that you are slumming at Flamingo, Harrahs and Casino Royale. Of those three which are proper mask use and social distancing most prevalent?

I typically stay at PH and then slum at PH and the other 3. Just a preference. Was originally booked at Flamingo and have stayed there before without any issues. But the recent trip reports are a little "sketchy". Didn't want to be all-in at one place and liked having the retreat back to a really nice place for the night even though I prefer slumming it while gambling.

We were at Encore 2 weeks ago, and found the limits at the Encore casino were a price point lower than could be found at Wynn. Even on Friday and Saturday evenings, there was $15 Blackjack 6:5 and $25 3:2. The $25 would go to $50 in the after dinner hours, around 10 or so. But there was never a time that I didn't see a $15 table at Encore. Never saw a BJ table under $15, and when there were a group of 5 completely empty tables at the pool on Saturday, I asked if they would drop the limit to $10 for me to get the game started, she politely replied "we don't spread $10 blackjack here".

I’m really bad at taking photos. Several times I thought I should be taking more pics for the trip review I may never write. This is all I got.

Some nice canyon views from 30k ft

75 minute wait at fat tuesday is insane. It's it the only frozen drink place open?

Well, I guess there's only one thing to say. One of us is right, and one of us is "left". Oops, my bad brother. I meant to say that one of us will be right. But that's a "debate" for another day.:peace: We are on this great board to agree on one thing only. Our love for Las Vegas!! At least we agree on one thing!!
