Any chance anyone knows of any $5 pai gow games left in Las Vegas or are those a thing of the past? I am heading out in May and would love to sit and play for hours on end.

I haven’t seen $5 paigow anywhere since March 19th, 2020.

Lowest I've seen on Strip was $15 at RW, but that was about a year or so ago. On the Strip I've only seen $25 or more. Report back if you find any low limits!

Although Vegas Advantage does not publicly post the minimums by casino (you need a paid membership), there is some good info about the current state of Pai Gow in Vegas here: https://vegasadvantage.com/las-vegas-table-game-survey/pai-gow-poker/

Main conclusions...

1. No more $5 tables

2. The table at Cannery (North Las Vegas) is apparently $10 now

$15 is also available sometimes at the lower-end Caesars properties. Have not seen $10 anywhere on the strip.

$5 Pai Gow has long gone. $10 is pretty much out the door also.

I can confirm seeing $15 Pai Gow at CET properties on Strip, mainly during slow weekdays. Also played $15 at TI.

A majority of casinos will only have Face Up Pai Gow now since that's a higher house advantage game with the A High push & no commissions. You can still find regular Pai Gow off strip at Boyd properties and locals.

Unless you're a player heads-up against the dealer and banking every other hand, the house edge is actually lower than standard pai gow poker.

Lower end CET casinos really have $15 Pai Gow with the multi-million $ progressive jackpots? My only problem with that is having to play $5 on the Progressive bet instead of $1..

Surprisingly, I have not been losing much more playing $15 than $5 Pai Gow. Guess since the $15 days started, I must have been winning the main bet more often than I used to playing $5. Or when I win $15 on the main bet rather than $5 it means less in losses...I used to bring $1000 to play Pai Gow for 2 days; since the minimum bids were bumped up I started bringing $1500, just in case. Like when I played the High Card Flush game at M and dropped $400 in about 15 minutes..that doesn't happen with Pai Gow..takes more like a half hour to drop $100 with $15 Pai Gow..

Hate the $5 progressive, but that's the way it is. We've found that if playing the carnival bets, even a $10 or $15 main bet is tough to tread water.

Do the Rio, Gold Coast or Palms have $10 or $15 Pai Gow? Palms used to have $10 but I can't recall if that was before or after Covid...I hope that the minimums are lower at Rio now that CET doesn't own it anymore...

South Point and Osheas(Linq) have the lowest minimum for carnie games.

Seen a lot of $10 games including paigow and also $5 ultimate holdem.

With most casinos going to Face Up Pai Gow there is no banking anymore...have not been anywhere where you're allowed to bank at a Face Up table...it's gone..
Right. My point was that the house edge on Face Up is lower than the house edge at standard pai gow poker, unless one is banking regularly.

In addition to all this talk of low minimums, is $5 the minimum for the Fortune/Envy side bet or does anywhere have it cheaper?

Most casinos I’ve been to (in Vegas and otherwise) have a $1 minimum on the Fortune and Ace High side bets, however if you bet less than $5 on the Fortune you’re ineligible for the Envy bonus. That’s why they give you that little Envy button when you’re betting over $5 on the Fortune- so they know to pay you on someone else’s qualifying hand (vs someone not playing at least $5 on the Fortune or not playing it at all) after they’ve already taken your bet away.

I’ve never been to a casino anywhere where they give you the Envy bonus if you’re betting less than $5 on the Fortune. I HAVE been to casinos where the minimum on both the Fortune and Ace High side bets is $5 instead of $1- in Vegas I know Circa is one of them just off the top of my head.

Sahara and one or two other casinos in Vegas only deal "Dealer Open Pai Gow" which is absolutely the crappiest Pai Gow game ever. There is no Progressive; just a crappy bet where a wheel is spun for a tiny payout (something like $5-40) if the dealer gets a King-high Pai Gow. Each player who has a dollar out on this bet gets the small amount that the wheel stops on. Where it stops also shows a seat number. If you are in that seat and have a dollar bet, you get to spin the wheel again for a second row of higher amounts, going from maybe $40 to the massive jackpot (typically it is about $100,000). I don't think I've ever gotten more than $40 when betting on this "progressive"..

As far as "envy", they have a different name for the standard bonus bet. I don't believe that you get anything if betting $5 on it and someone else at the table gets a huge hand. So no "envy"...I may be wrong (not about no envy buttons) that you get nothing with a $5 bet. I'll check it out when I'm in Vegas later this week.

So that's one more way that "Dealer Open" sucks for the player..
