If you mean at the Aztec Inn lol. I looked into it out of curiousity hoping to find a cheap eats hidden gem. menu had one breakfast entree at $5 and everything else was more in the line of strip prices. Think I'll pass.
I was planning on going to Aztec and the $5 Cafe when I'm in Vegas in a few weeks. Going during the day; no way I would try it at night. I will report back (if I survive).
Well, I survived, so here is my report. I walked over from the Strat around 4:30PM on Tuesday. It was moderately busy. There was a security guy in there (yellow shirt below). I played bartop VP for a bit and got a drink; won $20.
Then I went over to the $5 Cafe. It is table service, they take cash or debit card only ($1 surcharge for debit), and 1 check per table please, as the signs said. I decided to try some of their Thai food, so I got the Basil Chicken. I think it was $14, and I got a bottled water for $1 (Costco brand). The food was served on a cardboard plate, but it was good.
Then I walked back to Strat and went up the tower for happy hour and watched the sun set.
So, I would say Aztec did not seem scary during the day. YMMV
We poked out noggins in there one evening when we walked down to the Strat (from NYNY & back). We were just so intrigued, we couldn't go past without going in. Unfortunately, our take was that this wasn't so much a "hidden gem" as a last-chance-saloon sort of venture. I don't find the $5 breakfast on a Styrofoam plate to be as surprising as the fact that the place is still in business in 2025.
