The higher priority for TLC would definitely be Four Queens, since it has more hotel rooms and players occupying those rooms.

It should go without saying, but the web sites of both places are still down for the count.

Considering that VERY similar incidents have happened recently in other casinos (Jerry's Nugget a couple of weeks ago was down for over 2 days - hardly mentioned on this board), and considering all the reports of smaller organizations like local governments being victims of ransomware, I think the most likely cause of the 4Q/Binions problems is a ransomware attack, much more likely than a disgruntled employee. The near silence of the cause in the case of Jerry's as well as here, is consistent with how victims would act.

Smaller companies like these are much easier targets than billion dollar corporate casinos, who have a more complete I/T staff to monitor/combat hacking.

I'd say that reason that the VP machines at 4Q at the bars remained working while most others didn't is that the machines at the bars contain progressive games, and they could be on their own internal subnetwork due the progressive feature, which allowed them to at least run, even if the card readers weren't working.

I am guessing that the reason for rooms being at a premium the last week of March has something to do with March Madness!

Agreed, but I would also think they would have that week higher months out as well, not the standard weeknight rate of around $40. With that being said I rarely look at rates considering it's always comped.

They haven't lost reservations, they just can't run credit cards.

So the 4Q's players club is still down and the front desk still can't run credit cards. A new issue is that March FP did not load. The player's club is making a list to manually input it when their computers are up.

Binions care is still cash only

Just talked to reservations at one of the properties...they sounded whooped from dealing with everyone. Didn’t get April May offer in the mail, and they couldn’t tell me what it is of course. But they are open and operating, sorta.

Just hope that they're still in operation in April.

    I was there yesterday.
    - Could not redeem the monthly free play.
    - Could not get comps from the player's club.

The slot card readers were working on most, if not all of the machines and were accumulating points and comp dollars at the appropriate rate.

Don't know about the impacts at the 4Q restaurants, 4Q hotel or anything about Binions.

Taken from FB groups, it seems their slots are going offline again.

Sometime this morning 4Q's suffered a relapse. The machines could no longer print TITO's or display point or comp totals. The bar tops stayed up, but many machines were shut down for a while. Currently things stand pretty much as my last update stated with the important addition that the player's club has a single working computer. I waited in line to finally acquire my Jeweled Rat and get my FP manually loaded. You can also get a card, and I assume cash out your points. A local discovered that his FP was available W/O standing in line.

Congratulations on obtaining a coveted Jeweled Rat.

Sounds like pretty fragile technology at QQQQ.

Some low level drones will take the blame, something like this should be laid at the feet of top management (BOD, CEO, CFO).

Is it possible we see a return to the times when the little man(or lady)with the breast pocket pen and nifty notepad is visually rating your play & handing out food comps with a smile?? :)
I think if a local it is just an interruption in the plan but a visitor to Las Vegas 2-3-or 4 times a year, this is kind of disruptive to the plan.

How's the vibe at 4Q? I can't imagine it is fun with all these issues. Has the crowd been affected at all?

I'm assuming an organization of that type will have a CIO or CTO whose job it is to take the fall in cases like this.

While it is convenient to name a scapegoat, the buck really should stop at the top, the owner. Do you think the head I/T person wouldn't want to have a website that is only significantly updated every 10 years? (zero exaggeration) Would the I/T head recommend that there should be no customer internet access to book rooms online, or to view offers/comps? This in a place that still hasn't even started emailing all customers, regularly. (I still haven't gotten a single email despite having received two rewards for giving them my email address) The reason why they don't have these things is that the owner, Terry Caudill, didn't want to invest in that. Now, given that, how much do you think he'd invest in protecting their networks? State of the art security software? Dedicated personnel to computer security? You can bet not.

I don't think there would be an easier business target for ransomware/hacking, that could be crippled as easily as the Four Queens. The only surprising thing is that it took this long for it to happen.

I have no inside knowledge, but I suspect the "relapse" is that they haven't paid the ransom, and the same vulnerabilities still exist, so the hackers just hacked them again.

The biggest risk to all of this is that Terry suddenly discovers how much in the dark ages they really are in terms of investment in their technology, and because he either can't afford it, or doesn't want the headaches associated with it, ends up selling out to a larger casino company that would destroy all the great comps/games/offers that they have.
