I would be VERY shocked if they announced what happened. If it was a bug, people would wonder if they they will have it happen again. Randsomware- People would wonder how a casino of all places could get hit by this, and what if anything else did they make off with.

I’d say the computer problems and the covid19 are going to be a double whammy to their bottom line. Could that hamper their survival?

Problem with ransomware is that it is very profitable and constantly evolving. I use Linux for my main web browsing machine, and even then it's incredibly locked down. Security through obscurity only goes so far, often not far at all.

If you're on Windows 7 or earlier, it's just a matter of time if you have any internet connectivity. Lots of companies have proprietary software or old software that doesn't work on modern operating systems, which leaves them vulnerable.

If they had a data breach, they will eventually have to disclose.

First, personally I am certain that this was not caused by a "bug". I'll stick my neck out and say, based on my years of professional experience, that this explanation would not explain all the impacts. Not even close. The impacts that were evident, and the "response" from the Four Queens (how they approached the outages) are textbook signs of a hacking attack into their network.

You mention that if is was a bug, people would wonder if it can happen again. Well if is a hack into their network, which it almost certainly was, why not wonder if that can happen again? It can!

Yes, the best chance of some disclosure is if customer data were impacted. Even then, I doubt they would have to reveal it was a ransomware attack. They will just say their network was breached and customer data was downloaded. So, those that insist on waiting for absolute detailed explanations from the company, instead of "speculation" ;-) might easily go through the rest of time without being satisfied about knowing what happened.

As I already mentioned, there was a similar Jerry's Nugget attack January 22-23, anyone want to show me a statement from the company or gaming control, 7 weeks later, telling us exactly what the cause of the problem was there? Hmmm! Guess we'll just have to "speculate"? ;-)

The 30 day shutdown should give the IT folks plenty of time to fix the computer systems and establish preventive measures. But we'll see.

Talk about a rough run for the 4 Queens. First the computer debacle and now coronavirus. I like the 4Q, I hope they survive all of this.

I had a reservation there starting on 4/29. They called me yesterday to let me know they would not be open.

Makes sense. As of now the "stay home" is in effect until the end of April. This is a moving target so i'd suggest moving reservation conservatively into deep summertime.

Today is the first time I could access 4 Queens reservation system on line since it was “hacked”. IT must be getting things done in the quiet times of today’s world.

We called. I want to keep as many employees working and the employee we talked to sounded so bored. He said the reservation specialists are spread apart in a big old unused room in the casino and said it was so creepy that it was something out of The Shining.
