4/24-4/28 Cosmo for my 40th Birthday!

As so many others have, I’ve loved reading everyone’s trip reports over the years. It’s my turn to finally pay all of you amazing VMB’ers back with a TR of my own! I sit here in rainy Atlanta, writing this prologue, to hold myself personally accountable for seeing this through. By no means do I plan to keep this live, and probably not even semi-live, but I do feel the need to contribute to this incredible community of like minded people...

THE ROSTER:

Me: DC, 39 (for a few more days) male, been going to Vegas at least once a year for the better part of a decade. Micro roller by most standards around these parts, 90% blackjack and 10% craps.

AG, MS and ES: My best friends in the world, and fellow Vegas travelers. MS is my constant Vegas buddy, with his wife ES and my best friend AG joining us when they can.

RC: This is my favorite part...she is my older sister and truly my favorite person on this planet, and this her first trip to Vegas!! I can’t wait to play tour guide, at least some of the time, and hopefully infect her with the Vegas itch! She’s been practicing online blackjack like a trooper!

KW and ML: RC’s two best friends, who I’ve known since I was in elementary school. Can’t wait to see them, as they live in other states. They’re also “newbies”, which helps to free up the tour guide time when the boys want to get their “degen” on.

HOTEL:

My wonderful family and friends are treating me to a Fountain View Terrace at Cosmopolitan!! I have always wanted to stay here, so I am beyond excited! Everyone is staying at Cosmo, so that’s pretty awesome, but we’ll definitely be pre-gaming in my room.

PLANS:

I’m no rookie, I know better! The only things set in stone are GR Steak for dinner on my birthday, followed by drinks at Foundation Room. Can’t wait to show the newbies the view from the patio, it’s truly special.

I’m an NFL Draft nut, so MS reserved a table at Legasse’s for Thursday night’s 1st round. Dear Bucs, all I want for my Birthday is Minkah Fitzpatrick at #7. AG, God bless him, is a lifelong Brown’s fan, so he’ll obviously have a lot of rooting interest too. I’m pumped about being able to bet draft props now, looking forward to it!

Friday night will be our Fremont Street night, both for the gaming conditions and sheer debauchery of it all.

So there’s my intro, good people, and my plan is to update from the Terrace each morning with my coffee (read: afternoon Bloody Mary), but we all know how that goes....I do promise return at some point! This will not be TR of food porn, but hopefully chip porn at some point. Oh, and the cocktails....lots and lots of cocktails....

The Cosmo is my favorite property on the Strip - so much good food, drinks, and the rooms are excellent. Their sports book is a nice cushy place to watch the game too.

 

Good luck. I went to Vegas for my 40th a few years ago and had an awesome trip. Hopefully the gambling gods will smile on you for your birthday.

Thank you all for the kind words, the day has finally arrived! I was wide awake at 5:30am, the proverbial kid on Christmas morning. Flight out of Atlanta at 1:30, arriving at 3:00 Vegas time. Perhaps a cocktail (or two) at the airport first...let’s do this!!!

 

My sister and I are flying together, and her friends arrive around the same time. As a little surprise “Welcome to Vegas” moment, I booked a limo from the airport....
