    My Trip Report

I've been a Palazzo regular, but have been gravitating to Wynncore lately. It's a combination of just wanting to mix things up a little, combined with my satisfaction with the offers, food, service and host I have at Wynn. Recap will be picture heavy with some details thrown in along the way.

Had a Tower King room. The convention center construction continues. Areas of the golf course that were dirt during my last trip are now green, and restoration/redesign of the course is currently focused beyond the waterfall area. Sorry, not a golfer, have no idea what holes are involved.

Two pics inside the Wynn RFB lounge. For comparison, it's really similar to the VIP check-in/lounge at Palazzo. Coffee and tea are set out along with a few sweet and savory bites throughout the day. Palazzo offers lemonade, while Wynn has soda and a few other cold beverages below in a frig. Someone was always there to offer you a drink.

Spent an afternoon getting pampered with a massage at the Encore spa. First time getting a treatment there. Little amenities like the iced towels with cucumber slices, or the 'lavender gold dusted popcorn' to nibble on, are nice touches.

Having stayed a few times now at Wynncore, I've had a chance to really appreciate the aesthetics of the property. The walls and ceilings are rarely plain, they're covered with designs, fabrics, textures and ornate moldings. The flower arrangements are lovely too. I took a walk through the conference/meeting room hallways to enjoy the artwork and other items thoughtfully displayed.

I wasn't a participant, but during my stroll I passed by where the registration/reception had just ended for the $2,500 buy-in, $650,000 Feathers and Fortune slot tournament.

    Tournament (2).JPG Tournament.JPG

Gambling - Craps odds, can confirm 3X 4X 5X on $10 tables. Took slot pics last trip, this time focused more on food and drink. Slots were a bit tighter, no huge wins. Here's a pic showing my luck this trip - a bonus, 10 free spins, 0 won!

I tend to stay and play at one spot and don't wander too much. I did venture over to Palazzo. The Chinese New Year Display is still in the atrium. Entrance to The Factory Kitchen. Entrance and bar area of Mott 32. What's left of Carnevino.

Drinks - I like to order a new drink each trip, and have started trying whisky, having never been my spirit of choice. Started on the plane with a Woodford Reserve.

I bit the bullet and played $1 VP at Bar Luca at Palazzo, usually play 25 cents. I found the first drink ticket spits out right away. I played $5 a hand and a second ticket came out not too long after. My husband also had no trouble getting tickets playing less than $5 a hand. I used my drink tickets to get Glenlivet and later a Laphroaig. It was my first taste of an Islay scotch, and much to my surprise, I liked it. I couldn't drink it all the time, but there was something about the peaty, smoky flavor I found tasty. I do enjoy Rusty Nails (Drambuie and Scotch), and had one with Macallan on the casino floor back at the Wynn.

Kahlua and coffee. Note, the cocktail waitress gave me an eco-friendly straw, but gave me a heads up that it would melt in the drink!

Have been wanting to try an Xpresso Martini from the Tower Suite Bar. Also had a 'champagne and chambord' from the Encore RFB lounge. I had never tried that combo before.

Food - Tableau - fruit plate. Only pic I took there during breakfasts.

SW Steakhouse - Had the chopped salad, rib eye, mac and cheese, and broccolini, everything was very good. Only took a pic of the salad.

Sinatra - Nice antipasto plate. Veal parm with a side of pasta. First time trying. Huge portion. Yum!

Thanks for the awesome pics. I love Wynncore, keep on having second thoughts about my next trip because I love Encore so much but my wife wants to stay at Bellagio again since we “always” stay at Wynncore and she really enjoyed our 2 night stay at Bellagio about a year and a half ago.

Wing Lei - Last pics. Decided to mark it off my bucket list. Missed their popular, twice a year, dim sum brunch over Chinese New Year. Food was pricey, but good. Service was attentive. Lovely yellow and gold dining room looking out to the terrace with pomegranate trees and a golden dragon.

Wasn't mine, but several tables ordered the Peking duck, carved tableside.

Sounds like you had a good trip. I'm dying to try Wing Lei, just to say I had $35.00 Mapo tofu, but it's just Mr. Chow and China Tang for me until then.

    Thanks for the pictures!!!!

LOVE your report. I was there this past weekend as well and played in the tournament. Didn't win but had a great time. You stopped at some of my most favorite places at our beloved Wynncore. Thanks for posting all of the amazing pictures. And that Wing Lei cake is amazing. I brought mine all the way back home to NYC two trips ago and enjoyed it a few days later.

@NickyJ those are among the truest words in the English language. Truth be told I just planned this trip way in advance compared to our normal trips and since I am so very anxious for a vacation I think about it too much and wonder if I’m making the absolute best plans. It’s foolish but it’s part of a Vegas obsession I suppose. In either case We will be over to the Wynn for dinner at Costa di Mare during our trip and will likely spend several hours there gamblng anyways so I will get my fix. Thanks for posting all the pictures. We’ve never tried Wing Lei but this TR certainly has helped elevate it on my list of restaurants to eat for future trips!

    Appreciate the replies!

Kachow - You can never plan too early or obsess too much about a Vegas trip! I've yet to eat at Costa di Mare, I hope you share your dinner experience there.

    UPDATES:

Speaking of Wynn restaurants, just read this on Vital Vegas' twitter feed:

"Rumor is Andrea's and Lakeside Restaurant at Wynn may close. Andrea's rebrand makes sense as it's named after Steve Wynn's wife. Word is Country Club steakhouse will be back, thanks to return of golf course."

Likewise, Vital Vegas posted that Chef David Chang (of Momofuku) will be opening Majordōmo Meat & Fish in the empty Carnevino space at Palazzo. Info on the restaurant is already posted on the V/P website. I think one of his restaurants could be a welcome addition to their lineup. Looking forward to it!

WTH??? LAKESIDE???????!!!!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Interestingly, a senior employee at Lakeside who I adore is now at Costa di Mare. He likes the change. I really hope that doesn't mean Lakeside is closing. Even if another restaurant goes in its place, I just love that place and have so many memories there. Rough estitmate is that I've dined there easily 30+ times.

And I heard the rumor about Country Club. That would be great news if true.

Your pics and descriptions of the aesthetics at Wynn totally captured how I feel about Wynn everytime I’m there. Too often I forget to explore areas off the beaten path. The food pics were awesome. Thanks so much for taking us along and sharing.
