    My Trip Report

This is my first trip report. I don't have a smart phone and often go crazy hours chasing a good promotion, so I can't go live and I don't have pictures.
I generally come to Vegas 4 times a year for 2 to 3 weeks. This 3 week trip includes 3 MSS station, 2 Four Q's, a D, a GG, and an EC stay. At 4 Q's I usually play .50 to maximize promotion value. At other places I'm mostly a .25 VP player who plays a lot of hours. I play enough that that I don't pay for rooms, food, or drinks except for an occasional side trip to Hop Nuts Brewpub so their won't be any culinary adventures outside of casinos. I take the bus to and from the airport and for the little travel that I do out of downtown unless there is a free shuttle.
Think low roller grinding. I love video poker.
My trip had an odd start this year. In October Alaska Air had a sale for flights through May 14th so I bought a $150 one way ticket for 5/14. When my offers came in I discovered that I was coming into Vegas a week early. The price of a ticket had doubled, so I added a side trip to visit friends in OR. My plane landed in Vegas on the 14th and I immediately got on a plane to Seattle, rented a car, spent a great week in Oregon, I'm a huge beer fan, and rearrived in Vegas at 4:00 PM.
I had spent the previous night sleeping in my car in a Washington rest area and was pretty tired. The WAX bus was already there when I exited terminal 3 and I was downtown within the hour. MSS had a renovated room on the 17th floor facing the Plaza. I ordered a coffee maker and it quickly arrived. Life was being pretty convenient. I finally got to BHB at 6:30 PM and started playing .25 JOB. I was drinking their IPA. Whenever I go to MSS station, I stop by the triple 7 bar to taste their Special and Reserve taps. This time it was a Saison and another IPA. I liked them both. Between drinking their regular IPA's, they were nice enough to get a Saison from the brewpub, so my first beer drinking session was going well.
I gambled for about 2 1/2 hours, hit 2 4OAK, broke even. I lost my $10 FP, but had an extra $4 in scratch card. So a $4 profit! I put through about $1,300.
I had a $20 food credit and used most of it at California's Noodle House for Pad Thai. It was delicious and huge. I took about a 1/3rd of it home. I've spent time in Thailand and love the dish. I usually pair it with a 90 Minute IPA, but just finished my BHB IPA this time. I then went to bed since the next day was Senior day with 11x point multiplier.

Excited to follow your trip. I will be at the Four Queens starting tomorrow afternoon and then moving on to El Co next Monday. Perhaps we can grab a beer and play VP somewhere!

Sure gutshotSF. EC has decimated their bartop VP. I'll be at BHB a lot Saturday through Monday. Do you do Boyds? I can't use my player's card at Chicago Brewing for a short gambling session because it will destroy my offers, but I could handle a little off card gambling if you're not into MSS.

I love MSS too! Love the beer there, although I'm not a fan of the Boyd slot club for VP so I won't be giving them any serious play this trip. Is Boyd's offer system more friendly to just dropping into the bar to run through a few hundred dollars on quarter VP than Four Queens?

Happy to meet you at BHB. Drop me a private message and we can figure something out.

BHB it is. I rarely just run through a few hundred. 4 Q's gives a lot of free play and a low play day can costs hundreds. Boyd doesn't offer a ton of FP, at least to me.

When Boyd changed its players club last year, I didn't anticipate remaining a costumer. I figured that I would use my remaining offers and play elsewhere. But with senior day (Young at Heart) promotions offering 11 x points and being available to visitors downtown, I stayed. I figured that I could play JOB on pt multiplier days to earn TC's and play higher EV games at other times. I still needed a few hundred TC's to remain Sapphire and hoped to play a lot this day. I prefer to play quarters at MSS since it gives the scratch cards more proportional value and I prefer not to pay taxes on Royals.
I started playing .25 9/6 JOB at the BHB at 9:10 AM. I usually drink coffee and Baileys in the morning I drew a 4th King for my first 4 OAK by 9:30 Before 10:00 I had burned through my first hundred. Burned through my 2nd hundred at 10:50. Over the next couple hours I went on I bit of a run I hit 3 4 OAKs, followed by drawing the 5th card to a SF, and then was dealt Queens. I was grateful that I brought my lucky Christmas socks to wear that day. My last $100 dollars had grown to $500. That's a lot on quarters, but I played some of the time at .50.
I lost $250 of that over the next hour. That's a pretty bad run for quarter JOB. I took a lunch break. I quit at 1:50 PM down $50 with 2,003 points
The YAH promotion now offers a breakfast or lunch buffet or $5 food voucher and a pick a gift ( $10 MP, $5 food voucher, or a couple dollars worth of points. I chose the lunch buffet and food credit. The lunch buffet items don't change a lot so I'm happy with the free meal but not as enthusiastic as I used to be.
I started playing again at 2:50. I lost $50 in 20 minutes and was rethinking my sock choice. I hit 9 4 OAKs over the next 3 hours, but still lost a $100. It was like the machine sucked away every win. I lost another $100 less than an hour later. Around 7:30 I started 3 hours of up and down. I hit 6 4OAKs and bounced between 75 and 575 credits.
At 10:30 I had held 3 suited diamonds and the machine froze after the other 2 popped up. It was a $1,000 hand pay. A couple years ago, sitting at the same machine with the same bartender (Jose), I accidently discarded a low pair and held 2 suited high cards. I didn't notice my mistake until I hit draw. I looked away feeling stupid and could hear that I didn't hit anything. Then I saw a $2,000 Royal. It was my most profitable mistake. I don't know if it is the machine or Jose that is lucky for me, so I tip the bar a 20.
I don't leave a machine I'm winning on so I continued to play. Over the next 1 1/2 hours I got four 4 OAKs and another SF but still lost $50. It was exciting, but it wasn't winning. I ordered a last IPA . At 12:10 AM I cashed out. I was up $900 plus 27 scratch cards. I ran through $11,600. The base point total was 5809, but the BP total is 11 times that. I'd guess it's worth about $63.
Before I hit the Royal I was down $250 and had put close to $10,000 through. I approached a host for a brewpub comp. Usually I can get a decent Redwood comp with that, but this time it seemed that I was lucky to get a $20 brewpub comp. When I went to the brewpub I still had a Royal rush and wasn't that hungry. I used my remaining room credit on a 22 oz Saison and my $5.00 voucher and 1200 points on fish tacos. I enjoyed them both. I saved the comp for Thursday.

    Thanks for sharing.

Medicare does not allow me to spend three weeks in Vegas - LOL!

    Good for you.

Thank you. There is still a long ways to go. Medicare doesn't intervene into my trip lengths, but others make an occasional attempt.

After a late night I didn't get started at BHB until after 10:00 AM. I decided not to chance not wearing the Christmas socks again. The bartender, Oleg, took an interest in my beverage selection. On his shift I normally drink Bailys and coffee and an occasional white Russian. He added coffee and Rumchata and had some delicious twist to a white Russian. Over 2 hours I hit six 4 OAKs and another Diamond straight flush. At one point I was up $110 but the big hands dried up. I struggled for over an hour and cashed out $50 up at 1:30 PM.
I was moving to the 4 queens for a promotion the next day and had some reason to believe that my $300 FP might expire before then, so I played it through .25 JOB and turned it into $320.
MSS has a promotion going on for a free buffet that I used for lunch.
I returned to BHB around 4:00 PM I did well for a couple hours. I had some IPAs, Rob brought me a Saison and also made a killer Rum drink. I hit five 4 OAKs and, at one time, was up almost $150. My machine went to sleep and by 7:20 I was in the hole $60.
Fortunately 3 royal clubs joined the 2 I had held and I had my 2nd $1,00 RF in 2 days. For some reason this one wasn't a hand pay like the other.
I had hit a Royal a few months ago when Rob and Jose had been serving me drinks. It was shift change and Jose had just closed out. I had noticed on previous days that Rob didn't get the tips I left him after Jose left, so I had told Rob I would catch him later. I got sidetracked the next day and Rob took a vacation the next week so the tip was a loooong time coming. I found the timing interesting.
I continued playing but lost $40 in 15 minutes. I hit deuces at 8:00, but they don't make much of an impact in JOB. I quit a few minutes later up another $950 for the day. I had another $29 worth of scratch cards and had $6220 coin in. Without a multiplier the points were worth $3.
I had a big gambling weekend starting the next day so I used the brewpub comp I got the previous day and went to bed. I think that I had a cheese steak, onion rings, and a 20 oz glass of their special IPA, but I really don't remember much about the meal.
I do remember playing something like a pick a frog promotion on Tuesday and Thursday. I picked points worth $10 and $25.

    2 royals? Congrats!

And one locked up and one didn't? That's weird. Were they both the same unit? Both JoB too?

2 Royals? That's amazing. Hopefully, with all the money that you are winning, you won't have to spend another night in your car sleeping.:nono:

nice job hitting those 2 royals! MSS is currently my home away from home but like you, I don't expect the offers to keep coming much longer. I'm not impressed whatsoever with their player's club changes and I find it ironic that once they merged with Aliente the players club changed. It could be just a coincidence but I suspect since I'm coming into town for about a week starting this Saturday and I'm coming sans hubby I tend to think my Silver RFB days will be over after this trip. I'm a fan of the BHB too and like you, have had luck on a specific machine. Keep it going but save a little bit for me LOL :)

Tring, both locked up and both were .25 JOB at BHB. The first required a hand pay and on the second I cashed out the Royal on my ticket. Both were for $1,000. Thought it was odd that they weren't consistent.
Crazy, the BHB were still spitting out 4 OAKs as of last night. Even when their were only a few players, I had to watch for the attendant. She would come, find someone else with a 4 OAK at the bar who just hit, and take off. I was dealt 4 to Royal 4 times. Might be waiting for you to arrive.

@wasilla Which machine at BHB paid you a $1,000 Royal w/o a handpay. Over the years, between my wife and I, we have hit Royals on almost every machine and they are always handpay for $1,000. As you face the bar, machine 1 is on the left and 18 is far right.
EDIT: Jose the bartender just got back to me and #7 for sure on a $1,000 Royal has no hand pay.
