First thing I thought of:

Not that we needed all that for the trip, but once you get into locked a serious collection, the tendency is to push it as far as you can. The only thing that really worried me was the ether.

Knowing the people I do from this board (present company included), I sure wish I had stock in Lee's Discount Liquors.

This SOFA KING sucks...:cry::cry::cry:

Not only did I already flake on my friend's bday to make it out to Vegas...as I was pleasantly shopping tonight and keeping an eye out for a certain pair of sunglasses ;) ....I was rudely reminded it was my aunt's bday and to top it off, dinner was Saturday night!!!!!! :grrr:

This is one of my favorite quotes of all time, so I just had to put the whole passage:

Hunter S Thompson said:
We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a saltshaker half-full of cocaine, and a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, laughers, screamers... Also, a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether, and two dozen amyls. Not that we needed all that for the trip, but once you get into locked a serious drug collection, the tendency is to push it as far as you can. The only thing that really worried me was the ether. There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge, and I knew we'd get into that rotten stuff pretty soon.

-Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas

and of course the end of the book:

There was only one road back to L.A. - U.S. Interstate 15. Just a flat-out high speed burn through Baker and Barstow and Berdoo. Then onto the Hollywood Freeway, and straight on into frantic oblivion. Safety. Obscurity. Just another freak, in the freak kingdom. We'd gone in search of the American dream. It had been a lame f*** around. A waste of time. There was no point in looking back, F*** NO! Not today, thank you kindly! My heart, was filled with joy. I felt like a monster reincarnation of Horatio Alger. A man on the move.. and just sick enough... to be totally confident.

(/end Hunter S. Thompson rant. I just love that book. it's crazy in so many good ways! The movie wasn't too shabby either. If you ever listen to the Dead Kennedys, they did a version of Viva Las Vegas with the end of the book quote at the start of the song (as said by Johnny Depp, playing the part of Raoul Duke (aka Hunter S. Thompson) )
