    My Trip Report

Wife is getting ready to walk the strip, so... why not start the TR?!?

Woke up at 3am for a 6:55am flight EDT - all my panicking about flying, buying anti anxiety medicines, etc... the flight was super uneventful. Little turbulence but nothing crazy. Distracted myself with loud music, solitaire and SouthWest free streaming TV. Was over before I knew it (or that was the nicotine withdrawal hah)

First stop - the rental. First time going through Thrifty - the usual up sell on insurance and such (I remembered to bring my insurance card) but other than that, we were done pretty quickly. Oddly, you don't get assigned a convertible - the process must have changed from 2 years ago. Now, we were just directed to section 2 and told to pick a car.

Black Camaro Convertible it is. Feels like a 4 cyl - really anemic off the line but it's a rental so, lol...

(wife made me stop at the outlets)

Last night, I did the email checkin thing Vdara sent me to let them know when we'd be arriving and just while the wife was at the outlets, I get an email saying the room is ready. At the hotel by 9:30am

Vdara is beautiful. Corner suite thanks to MyVegas Rewards (the 2 nights comp). This room is huge!!! I'd never pay for it otherwise - way to expensive for us for a room - but so long as MyVegas is around and they do suite comps - we may do it again next time

    IMG_0802.JPG IMG_2021.JPG IMG_2381.JPG IMG_2615.JPG IMG_3932.JPG IMG_5765.JPG IMG_5802.JPG IMG_6999.JPG IMG_7526.JPG IMG_8268.JPG

Off to the pool - pretty uneventful - way to windy today so the wife get's her souvenir cups cause we don't have 4 from MB already, swim a bit and off to walk the strip and find food. I haven't eaten since Wednesday - had 4 slices of toast yesterday as to not get a stomach ache on the plane so... starving!

    3.JPG

Probably keep it low key tonight - dinner and a bit of walking - tomorrow is the Club Crawl so that'll keep us up all night.

    (Day 2)
When your up at 5:30am but not even Starbucks is open (opens at 6am) :(

After the pool, we ate at Olives at Bellagio - Awesome bartender - Curtis - a local here for more then a decade. Filled us into some nice places to live here; gave us a local realtor if we wanna go look around while we're here.

Had the Steak Fritas and she had a flat bread. Steak was great, her's - not so much.
    IMG_9951.JPG IMG_2677.JPG

While waiting for a table, headed over to my BFF Gucci for a little shopping. We always get ourselves a little something when on vacation, especially if it's an anniversary vacation. My first pair of designer shoes (sneakers). Fancy!

    IMG_3389.JPG

While at lunch, she decides we need to see another show, because we don't have enough planned for this trip, lol... Walk across the street to Tix4Tonight at Bally's and get tickets for Le Reve - $155 tickets for $125 each. Not bad, but the show wasn't sold out so she thinks they should of been marked down more. But these are not real tickets and Wynn isn't apart of MGM so walk all the way back to Vdara, pull the car, drive to Wynn, pick up the tickets. By this time, my thong flip flops have taken their toll on my feet so we drive to the Premium South outlets; find the Crocs store - buy 1, get 1 half off!!! (cause I need more flip flops, lol). Hit the liquor store on the way back to Vdara - shower quickly and back out to Wynn for the show - made it there just in time to sit at 6:45pm

Note to self - now that Uber and Lyft is here - traffic is SO MUCH WORSE. I remember driving the strip to be pretty sparse - now, it's just about wall to wall traffic :( Super awesome driving the strip at night time though in a convertible. With no top, seeing all the lights and stuff was cool.

Le Reve was SO much better then what I remember it to be 7 years ago and the women at the box office said so also - she said they change the show up a bit every 6 to 9 months. I remember the show being just act after act of acrobatics and stuff. I've never liked shows like that and it's why we love Beatles LOVE so much. LOVE IMO is a story - still individual acts, but it has a flow to it. Le Reve has a flow to it now. Awesome show now!

    IMG_2020.JPG

Back to Vdara - walk over to Aria to find Five 50 Pizza and grab a slice each to take back to the room. It's now 10pm (1am EDT) and that's that for the night.

Pools don't open till 8am so she wants to go to Egg Slut at Cosmo for breakfast quickly before we go to the pool.

Tonight is the Night Club crawl so will need to take a nap for sure. She has a groupon for The Sugar Factory at the Fashion Show Mall so we'll go do that, probably more walking and maybe Hexx for lunch.

Wow, suite at Vdara is very nice through MyVegas. I have a ton of MyVegas points to use but not sure about staying where there is no casino. Will have to think about that and perhaps give Vdara a try with my points.

Fantastic photos. Looking forward to your updates.

We did take the upgrade they offered after I booked the room. Was just an additional $40 / day so why not. So this isn't that room exactly but for $40 extra... was worth it IMO. They did try to upgrade us again when we checked in for another $20 / day - I said no. After a certain point, something no longer being free isn't worth it, haha.

This guy is obviously new here, lol...
    IMG_4970.JPG

Breakfast at Egg Slut was good. Just had a bacon and egg sandwich, she had a sausage and egg sandwich. Off to the pool by 9am - Kinda chilly in the morning so gone by 11am and off to walk the strip. Caught lunch early at Hexx at Paris and off to more walking. Made our way all the way down to Mirage and came back through the Forum Shops at Caesars. Scored a nice pair of jeans from True Religion and back to Vdara. Tired from all the walking, we went back to the pool for an hour to soak in the water, lol... Water was much warmer in the afternoon.

    IMG_9755.JPG

Night Club crawl starts at 930 - about to roll out for the meet up at The Still at Mirage.

---- I know I said I might not pay for one of these rooms without the comp but seriously... it's 90 degrees outside. Your walking the strip - I don't care who you are, everyone sweats. End up showering twice; wearing 2 outfits a day. Can't pack 12 outfits for a 6 day trip - who the hell wants to lug all that luggage around. The clothes washer and dryer is running now - seriously going to miss them at MB. What a great connivence to have. I'm falling in love with this hotel, lol...

Got the pre-checkin email from MB an hour ago - set it for 8am. Assuming we don't drink to much tonight - off to MB tomorrow our home away from home!

    (Day 3)

The club crawl was AWESOME! Started out at The Still at Mirage; then on to 1 Oak at Mirage; Light at Mandalay Bay and Tao at Venetian. Limo bus ride to each of the clubs. Fun! Met an great couple from Oklahoma and hung out with them all night.

    IMG_0966.JPG

1 Oak was nice - good vibe, good DJ - expensive drinks :(
    IMG_5725.JPG

    IMG_2773.JPG
(me on the left) soooo exhausted, haha.

Light at MB never disappoints - our 2nd time there. The wife even convinced me to dance a bit.
    IMG_9340.JPG

We ended at Tao - really don't get why people love this place - it's tiny, the DJ was meh... Someone vomited on the floor - they were quick to clean it up. By this time, we drank so much, we stayed for maybe 15 minutes and left. At 2am and drinking all night, we got lost trying to find the Uber / Lyft pickup - ended up taking a cab ($8) back to Cosmo to get Secret Pizza. Waited a half hour for 3 slices! Walked the slices back to Vdara and finally got to bed at 3am.

    IMG_0934.JPG

Up at 7am to pack and off to MB. Early check-in worked fine and got the email the room was ready around 8:30am. Definitely dehydrated but not hung over. So long as I stick to whiskey - I'm good usually.

    At the pool by 9am

    IMG_8137.JPG IMG_2731.JPG

Caught lunch at the restaurant by the pool (forget the name). Never disappoints. I had the buffalo chicken wrap and she had the chicken Caesar salad. We shared nachos.

Finally took a nap around 1pm until 4 and we're off to Mirage for Beatles LOVE. The Miss USA pageant is getting started here and people are starting to pour in - perfect timing to go before things get crazy (need an easy night tonight).

Let down from Tao - the wife now wants to go see Steve Aoki at Omnia Tuesday after Celine Dion so we'll have to score tickets.

We always compare our vacations to each other. Our last was in Cancun. That was basically non-stop drinking (all inclusive). Vegas is non-stop drinking while running a 10 mile marathon every day, hahaha. Love this place but this will be a I need a vacation from the vacation trip.

We used Nite Tours - https://nitetours.com/lasvegas/ - was good!

The redone Beatles LOVE is great and our seats even better. 2nd row section 107. Nothing else to say other then it's still our favorite show on the strip! Well probably see it again next time, hahaha.
    IMG_1983.JPG

The wife wanted to go to Giada's for dinner - I thought it was in Venetian so we walked there, only to find out it wasn't, lol. Walked to the Cromwell and found it - was good. I'm not a huge fan of Italian food - having had had it my entire life - I'm over it. It's nothing special to me. So the wife never really gets a chance so we went. "California Italian" - whatever that means. We're Sicilian, lol...

Was good - she had a Pasta dish with shrimp and I just had a pizza with cheese and some sort of Salami - wine for me and a mixed drink for her. We shared the smores Gelato (Gelati? Wonder if they use an I instead of an O because Giada is a women?) and coffee. Was good.
    IMG_4437.JPG

Walking back to Mirage - really bad sewer smell in front of Caesars :( gag worthy. Someone needs to try to fix this.

The valet system has glitches still (just, FYI). So we were 2 days at Vdara - parked valet. Checked out, checked into Mandalay Bay using valet - they transferred Sunday's valet to MB (or carried it over). Drove to Mirage and parked Valet and the ticket from MB didn't read as valid. Not wanting to hold us up, they said they'd take care of it when we leave. Go to leave and it still won't scan. They called over to MB and got it fixed in a few minutes; no big deal and they were nice about it and so was I - I hate giving people who I think work pretty hard a hard time for something out of their control - but the system still has a few bugs.

Little chilly and windy today so dunno how long we'll last at the pool. Anniversary dinner is tonight at 8 at Paris. I'm starting to itch a little and wanna gamble a bit. Hit a few slots or something. Might just walk this side of the strip - Luxor, Excalibur - maybe MGM and take it easy. Tomorrow will be a long night between Celine and Aoki so... Need to relax a bit. Or take a drive to some residential areas.

Walked to the pool for 8am open time but it's just to damn chilly out for us :( Decided to switch plans a little and did the Neon Museum. The address on their email is NOT the right address, lol - and it's in a really sketchy part of town. Google the address in Maps and use that address.

The tour was great though - so cool to see all the old signs; how they were made, different technologies they used, etc... Come to find out Las Vegas was incorporated on May 15th back in the day - our anniversary day - that's cool!

    IMG_9373.JPG

Tried to go to downtown LV but I just wasn't feeling it. Something about it just didn't make me feel safe. Call me a sheltered suburban but we stayed for maybe an hour - saw the container park - meh.

She wanted to go to Chick Fil A - I've had it before on the way to Florida but she's never been there and we don't have one near us. Ok for fast food but McDonalds is just fine, lol...

Back to the hotel - did a little shopping at Mandalay Bay place. Had to find the Zippo dealer between Excalibur / Luxor - I filled mine before we left but my flint was starting to die - plus I wanted a new one.

    IMG_8729.JPG

Gambled for a bit - spent maybe $120 between the 2 of us on slots - lasted about a half hour / hour. This is why we don't gamble lol... we don't have that kind of luck.

Tried going back to the pool - stayed for an hour or 2 but again - the wind is just to high and it's chilly :(

Dinner at the Eiffel Tower was great - awesome view of the fountains, good food. Such a small world - Was talking to the waitress - from Syracuse (we're from Buffalo) and her Sommelier is from Orchard Park (Buffalo). I had noticed her beautiful curly hair and that kind of hair is common in Italian women. Sure enough, she's first generation American (like me) - family is from Rome. Just, nice people to talk to!

Did a little more shopping at Paris - bought a new pair of sunglasses - my first pair not Oakley - 30% off - not bad - Maui Jim

    IMG_6949.JPG

    IMG_3289.JPG

Took a Lyft back - Adam Wynant (former UFC fighter) picked us up in a black Tesla Model S - had a great chat with him. Really nice guy. He's retired and drives for the hell of it / something to do (I've heard celebrities doing this).

Ran out the night at Foundation Room at MB - always a great view.

Today... will be a long day... She has a groupon for Sugar Factory at Fashion mall we need to use - so probably drive there first and get that, then go park at Mirage - find dinner - feeling either Carnegie Deli or Caesars Buffet - then Celine Dion at 7 then Steve Aoki at Omnia after.

Got the call from the Exotic Car tour for tomorrow - I'm assuming they want to consolidate all the tours so they moved us from 2pm to 11:30am which is fine - going to be to cold for the pool anyway :( - we get to drive for an additional 20 miles doing so. It'll be a:
    Audi R8
    McLaren MP4
    and a Ferarri.

Kinda let down about the Audi and not a Lamborghini (my unicorn - I WILL own one before I die) - He tries telling me the Lamborghini is built on the R8 platform. Yeah... no. That's like saying my Macbook Pro is the same as a POS Dell because they both run on Intel processors, lol... Maybe something changes before then and we score a Lamborghini. Never a huge fan of Ferarris (but I respect the engineering). The McLaren will be fun.

    Off to the pool!

I think this is because the strip is located in Paradise, not the City of Las Vegas and the properties use a septic system. Ya know...

Enjoying the trip report. Beatles LOVE is my wife's favorite show in Vegas... you had great seats. And I've driven in a Audi R8, not a bad car by any means but I can see your disappointment in comparison to a Lambo.

Finally, some good pool weather! Sat by the lazy river and did that, the wave pool and the main pool.

    IMG_0968.JPG

Stayed until about 2pm and back to the room to get ready to go out.

First stop - Sugar Factory to use the groupon. Was good - had the berry one. It's obviously more sugar then alcohol.
    IMG_2032.JPG.jpeg

Did a little shopping while we were there; she finally got herself something nice. Cookie cutters and such (she loves baking)

Leave and go park at Mirage to walk to Caesars. Sucks paying $20 / day for valet but at least it's just once a day. Just going to figure this into the price of the trip in the future as you would the resort fee.

Celine Dion... Beautiful theater; we had good seats as well. We might of been the youngest couple there. She did a lot of talking; I hope she's actually singing the songs (the wife thinks she does). The show was about hour and a half / 2 hours with the intermissions and such. She kept saying the room holds 4000 people and it was just about sold out. It started late because they had a problem with the main sound board. Technology happens. This was her 1038th show (they tell you this before it begins). We think she sang about 3/5th's of her own songs and the rest were covers; Prince, Michael Jackson, etc...

Why do this? She's an amazing singer; We're sure she has more hits then what she sang. I don't want to hear Prince's songs. I want to hear YOUR songs. Even if I don't know them. The wife also thinks she shortened a bunch of the songs; specifically her Titanic song. Again - why?

Good show; she can still hit her notes and such so far as I can tell, just not what we were expecting...
    IMG_4688.JPG

    IMG_5200.JPG

    IMG_5288.JPG

Go and check out Omnia quickly - there were like 4 or 5 lines - general admission, ticketed admission, ladies only, etc...; no one was there (was about 10:20pm) - maybe everyone was inside already? By this time; my feet are killing me; I haven't eaten since 9:30am and am extremely dehydrated. We say screw it and try to go find food.

Caesars is such a maze, haha - I knew we came in through the Forum Shops from Mirage but trying to get out is a different issue. After looping the shops twice we're finally out and go back to Mirage.

Settle on Carnegie Deli. We shared a $22 Turkey Club and fries - was huge! Was good. No complaints. Waiter was quick and super friendly.
    IMG_7336.JPG

Back to MB around 11:30pm and I'm done.

Today better be low key, haha. Think we're gonna use the Breakfast Buffet MyVegas reward this morning. Then the Exotic Car Tour at 11:30am. That'll end around 2 ish - then just simple - either the Beegees at Excalibur or Titanic Exhibit at Luxor. Maybe hit Skyfall at Delano for happy hour.

I think in the future, we need to split vacation up - Instead of taking 1 long 6 day trip, try to take 2 - 3 to 4 day trips. By the end of a long trip, we're just exhausted and obviously, that's not what vacation should be. Maybe 1 in the spring and 1 in the fall; then, if it's crappy weather, we're not totally disappointed. Not that it was horrible; perfect walking weather with the wind; but not perfect pool weather and we love going to pools.

Great report. You will love the Maui Jim's. I think they make the best polarized lens in sunglasses. I too we be bummed out getting stuck with an Audi instead of a Lambo.

    (Day 6! Last Day!)

Admittedly, little nervous about the car tour. No R8 :( Ferrari, McLaren and Corvette z06. Get there about 40 minutes early - obviously, I forget my insurance card back at the hotel. Had to call my rep (a friend of ours), have her email it to us so they can run it. They're just looking for liability and deductibles.

The McLaren was probably my favorite. Of the 3, it was the most well rounded. Not the slightest hint of turbo lag (it has 2), the cabin was like a damn jet fighter cockpit - hugged you amazingly. And it wasn't quick off the gas. The Ferrari I feel wants to drive for you - trying to tell you when to shift, being quick to stop - like you had to drive it to where you wanted to stop and then it would stop on a dime - instead of rolling there like most cars would. The z06 - while it destroys both the others in raw power is still an American car and you can tell. Many of the interior features I had in the Camaro - the rear end slipped on me a bit around a turn (might of been the tires - or the 650hp) and you could hear the car / body panels rattle a bit on bumps. Awesome power / exhaust note but the fit and finish just isn't there - as it shouldn't be - it's no where near as expensive as the others - but for $80k / $90k - it could be a bit more refined. I did feel the most comfortable in the z06. It could be a daily driver where the McLaren - I'm not sure I could drive it more then 4-6 hours in 1 shot. No road trips for the other 2.

Regardless - seriously the most fun I've had in a long time. Not cheap - $600 with the wife being a non-driving passenger - so what... $200 / hour? But damn, that was fun.

    IMG_0437.JPG IMG_4137.JPG IMG_5930.JPG IMG_9535.JPG IMG_7121.JPG IMG_4631.JPG

The rest of the day was just laid back. Had to go to MGM to use a groupon at Taco's and Ritas - was ok. Nothing fancy (fast food). She wanted to go to the M&M store, Hershey store and Coke store. Did that bit of walking. I don't think we've ever walked through MGM before. Place is HUGE. Got lost a few times trying to get out and back to valet.

Got back to the room, packed a bit, took a nap - was supposed to meet a friend at Skyfall for drinks at 8:30 but we were both exhausted. And the wind was to damn high.

Got home a couple hours ago - stopped at our local pizza joint. Vegas pizza doesn't even compare to home, haha.

Left the hotel around 7:30am for a 9:55am flight - easy peasy. Dropped the car at Thrifty; took the shuttle to the airport. Dropped the bags at South West and got to the gate with 40 minutes to spare. Had 3 red wines on the flight - took the edge off and the flight (3 and a half hours with the wind pushing us) was over quickly. They took drink coupons from those that had them but never came back for anyone using a CC. I swear to god, I get more drinks for free on SW then I pay for - dunno if they just don't want to deal with running the CCs or they feel bad about turbulence. Either way; nice to score something free time to time.

I also don't think we were charged for valet at MB. Their still having some kind of problem linking to the other casinos - the same problem I had at Mirage; I had at MGM. 4 days = $80 for valet - no such charge on my bill. Bonus!

    Disappointments -
Celine Dion - I wish she didn't do the cover songs - that left a bad taste in my mouth.
Bad weather - could of used more time at the pool (no fault of anyone obviously)

    As expected -
Beatles LOVE - never fails to impress - I find myself singing the opening to the show as I clean up all the cat hair that's gone 6 days without a vacuum lol...
Foundation Room - obligatory visit - best view of the strip, period.
Paris - Was good. We have restaurants like this at home - not with the views obviously, but food on par with what's at home. Solid dinner.

    Unexpected -
Le Reve - It really has aged well and got better over time - will see again next time.
Giada at Cromwell - happily surprised - good food, not over done decorations (as most italian places at home are). Would go there again if the wife wanted Italian.
Night Club Tour - strait up fun. No complaints; no problems; had a blast.
As much as I thought it would - it didn't bother me switching from Vdara to MB mid trip. I think it broke stuff up nicely - gave a nice change of pace - we tried a new hotel (to us) and the washer and dryer - huge plus 2 days in. Either through MyVegas on our own - will probably split up the trip again like that. Maybe Aria or Cosmo next time.

    Nice to have -
The convertible - that was fun. Wish we had more time to just drive around and go somewhere local / house shop. Will rent a convertible next time.

    Should of... -
Should of went to see Steve Aoki or Tiesto - Maybe next time we go, we find a Night Club Crawl that'll end up at one of those spots and end the night there.

Next time - need to remember to -
bring more comfortable shoes - damn my feet hurt.
Don't think we can get away with packing lightly - the wife bought so many souvenirs, t-shirts, etc... we had to buy a duffle bag (cheap - $14 at Luxor, but still) just to pack all the crap. Basically, bring an empty piece of luggage just for crap we buy.

    It's not you, it's me -
Downtown isn't me. The moment we walked into the freemont experience - I didn't feel comfortable. Everyone that loves downtown and hates the strip - god bless you. Keep it, lol...

    Till next time!
