Thanks. Thought it might be that one, but wondered if they have another special going.

So, Ellis Island... what’s the deal there? The staff were pleasant. The beer was pretty good. Weird selection of slots. Lots of VP. No table games had players while I was there.

It just seems... like why hang out there when you can be in the beautiful Bellagio or Park or Caesar’s? Is it a locals hang out?

I can’t imagine staying there. I don’t get room comps but I’m paying less than $100/night. I take summer road trips with my kids where I’d be thrilled to get a Best Western room for less than $100.

Anyway, never made it to Excalibur. After Ellis, got the truffle parm fries at Gordon Ramsay Burger and then wandered back to Park via Aria tram.

Yeah, EI is a bit quirky. Many people like it for the good VP rules, cheap beer and food (either the "steak special" and/or the ribs). Don't think I'd stay there, though ....

I agree re Vegas room prices, with BW being around $100 (for us Canadians, that's more than $130). Once stayed in a BW in Lucerne, Switzerland for around $300 a night (!).

Yeah, if you revisit, get the steak special or the BBQ. The food is a big reason why people go to Ellis Island.

I love the blackout curtens in the room many of times I’ve woke up past 11 thinking it was still early due to not being able to see light come into the room.

I actually leave my curtains fully open. I love waking to the sun rise.

Ok, quick recap of the evening. After fries at Gordon R Burger, and back at Park, I got some gelato at Eataly. It was hopping there! The whole Eataly area was bustling. I like it a lot.

Then time to change for the evening and meet my friend at Cosmo to see Opium. That show is absolutely ridiculous! It was funny and impressive and just enough blue. We both loved it. Had front row seats but luckily did not get picked on to participate.

After the show, we headed back to Park to dance at On the Record. We both got on the guest list so it was fast free entry and ladies got free “champagne” ( prosecco).

It’s an interesting club. Seems focused on table service with a rather small dance floor. There’s part like a patio, with a double decker red bus in it that’s a bar. That part is in the photo below-you can see strings of lights in the lower left. View is from my room.

Well, all things end and tomorrow is my last day here. It’s been great. I really like Park and would stay again. There’s only one other hotel I can say that about and that’s Paris.

Tomorrow I hope to play more GoT, Sherlock if I can find one here, and catch one more great meal.

Photos are decor from the club & a fun- 8770ACE7-F4F5-4FC4-AD24-0EE177DFC236.jpeg 8871767F-6CD2-4D7B-A412-0449F4567D03.jpeg 392A11F7-E767-4F35-BB27-7B88890B96BA.jpeg 39DA99C2-EB80-48C3-901F-E473448536C3.jpeg looking Roy Choi slot.

Ok more Park notes. The toilets are Toto, high quality and they have the lids that self lower so they don’t slam.

Walls are thin! I just heard someone next door lower their window shade. It’s an awful screechy sound.

Signage is great! I was never lost, unlike at PH. Also lots of staff around to assist. All friendly.

No late night food. At midnight, nothing seemed open for food except room service. Maybe Juniper has bites, I didn’t check there as it was crowded.

Thanks for the info on Park. Stayed at MC years ago, be interesting to see the diffs. Too bad the 'pub' is gone .... it was always fun. I've read the new casino is quite small ... did you gamble much there or go mostly elsewhere?

I think the casino is fine. It’s not huge like Caesars but rather small enough that I can always find my fave machines but still big enough to feel like there’s an abundance of things to do.

Juniper was loud last night. And ... from my room on 18 I could hear the thump of bass from the nightclub. I know it was the club because I didn’t hear it the earlier two nights and the club was closed Mon and Tues.

I think they got the vibe right here at Park.

Travel day today... had another nice breakfast from LaVazza. I’m usually a coffee and toast or yogurt person, so a small breakfast is perfect.

Thanks for all the info. It should be a fun couple of days. Re Eataly - I had read some negative reviews, but since then I've looked at a couple of Youtube vids. Those, plus your thoughts make it seem interesting. I agree re breakfast. Nice to have some 'small bite' choices at all times of the day.

As you (IIRC), I'll pop over to Cromwell for better VP paytables. Interestingly enough, I've had some success at Lobby Bar in Exc ...won a bit and always had good (ie. generous) bartenders.

The Park theming is subtle-green colours and greenery all around. Leaf and flower themes for lighting. Lots of art. The whole effect is lovely.

I’m really glad I stayed here:).

Taking the tram to Bellagio to see the conservatory, then back to Park to check my bag. Then I’ll try Excalibur, NYNY and Park gambling for the rest of the day.

I dunno why you'd go here for VP over the Gold Coast if you're on the Strip, but that's just me. I guess if you play nickels it is better, though.

Be prepared for snow when you get home. It’s forecast for two or three different days in the next week.
Loved your trip report. Thanks for taking us along. 17 more days until mine-can’t wait to get out of cold Washington .

I agree. I'll play if I go anyway ... I won't go just for the VP (ie. a 'package' if I'm going for the steak special and cheap beer).

I'll go to Orleans over GC, although I play at both.

Yeah, we don't go to Ellis Island without eating there either.

There was a lot of stuff about The Park while they were undergoing the switch from MC but most people who have been there since the work has been completed have been pretty complementary. The pictures of the rooms I have seen online look a lot nicer than when I stayed there years ago and the casino floor needed to be overhauled a while back. I am looking forward to walking through there on the next trip.

I agree. Gold Coast is pleasant and much bigger.

Finally playing some bar top VP at ... Excalibur.
