  1. Just a few notes about our trip this last weekend. We stayed at the Gold Coast. While this hotel is fine to stay at for a few nights, the beds are a little hard and the pillows are awful. Next time I will just bring my own pillow. Other than that the room is fine for two people who wont spent a lot of time in it.

We arrived Thursday night and played a little before bed, nothing too exciting. Had the fruit platter in the Monterey café, husband had the French dip. Food was fine.

Friday morning played for a while, at at the Ports of Call Buffet, very good, then went to the strip via the shuttle. I will say the shuttle service was fast and easy. Headed over to Caesars and the Forum mall. Looks like a lot of construction going on. FAO Schwartz was closed. Watched the show by the Cheesecake factory area and then decided to head over to the Flamingo. We ate at Margaritaville. Excellent burgers. Service was a tad slow. Headed over to Ballys to play for awhile, then back to Gold Coast. Dinner was again at Ports of Call. I really like this buffet. They have good build it yourself tacos and their Chinese food is very good. Desserts were fair. We went over to the Rio and played and won $130, but we put it back into the Gold Coast machines LOL.

Saturday, we decided on a small breakfast so we could do an early lunch. We had a croissant and cinnamon roll from Gold Coasts Seattle’s best. We walked across the street to Palms to eat at Guardano’s. They didn’t open till noon. So with time on our hands, what else could we do…Gamble! Played $10 on a Penny Harley game, won $40. Lost $20 on the playboy slots. Go figure. Lunch was OK, nothing great, too spicy for me, but I am a wimp on spice. Our waitress was slow, but very nice. Chips and salsa were ok too, nothing great.

We decided on Mon Ami Gabi for dinner for our anniversary. We had $60 in comps on our bally’s/Paris card. When we cashed them in, I ask specifically if we could use them anywhere in the hotel. The lady said yes, anywhere and I circled my arm and said anywhere in here again, she said yes.

So at the end of a wonderful meal (I had chicken in a lemon sauce, awesome, and husband had a steak with carmalized onions, he loved it) our bill came and our waitress informed us, oh we don’t honor comps here. Least to say we were not happy.

Back to the comp desk, I walk up to her and told what happened and she said yes you can use them anywhere, I said well Mon Ami Gabi said no, then she says oh yeah not there. I was so ticked off. I talked with a manager, he said oh well, to bad so sad, (ok not his exact words) but basically they told me we were screwed and had 24 hours to use them in their gift shop. I said, I don’t want to use them there; we are leaving tomorrow and have no use for them. They did nothing to help me, nor offer me anything for their mistake. Looks like we will never be back to their establishments. I now have 13 months to use them since they put them back into our account. We don’t know if we will be back.

After walking the strip to “cool†off, we felt better; at least we were in Vegas!

Sunday, we had breakfast at La Salsa in Showcase mall, very small menu, like 7 items, but good. A little shopping and we headed home.

We had a great trip in all, except the Paris issue with comps. Not a winning trip, but hey, its Vegas baby.

Forgot to take the green pill again, Mikey. You don't want to wear the jacket, you have to remember to take the pill.

Too bad the mixup put a damper on your trip, WN. I kinda hate futzing with comps and coupons for that very reason - you had a nice dinner, but the annoyance and embarrassment ruined it.

Thanks for writing up your trip!

Is the title of this post not "19th anniversary trip"?! Am I missing something here? You did mean wedding anniversary, right?

Dammit, where is my green pill?!

Sounds like you had a good trip other than the comp mix up. I wonder if one should be specific about where they are wanting to use the comps. I am going to remember your experience when I am there and try to remember to be specific. Of course once I enter into the "Las Vegas Zone" I won't remember anything. [IMG]
