Yes, we visited last year. Food was excellent, and agree-portion sizes were nuts!

Pancakes, your TR is awesome. Please continue, I'm living vicariously through you until I actually get to experience it all in August. Can't wait. Thanks again.

Just do what I do, make believe you’re taking a selfie, but have the shutter facing forward.

Wanted to mention, there is an Arco gas station with an AM PM Mini Market on the corner of LV Blvd. and East Reno, it is not far from the south entrance of the Excalibur. You can save a couple quid on beer and snacks. Speaking of ales, had any recently or are you still doing frozen yogurt? :poke:

We have tried that a couple of times, but we find it's a faff checking out and in. Plus we always rent a car so we are not limited to one place.

That said, we almost booked a couple of nights at Red Rock. Maybe next time.

My wife and I spend a good half an hour in the Fun Dungeon every trip. We usually just give the tickets to the kid that's at the back of the line to redeem them. Think they'd value the comeback more than us. Only disappointment with the Fun Dungeon is that the Donkey Derby has never been on when we've been in there!

Each time I've been I've been asked which part of Australia I'm from. If I spoke in my first language of Wiganese they'd think I was a Martian rather than an Australian!

Thursday we went supplies shopping again, as somehow the beer we bought at the weekend had disappeared! While we were in Walmart, picked up a little 5 cup coffee maker for 9 bucks. So cheap! Makes a great cup of coffee as well.

Nothing too exciting, just went to the food court for lunch, Popeyes chicken is a good option.

Played the slots for a while in the afternoon, no big wins alas.

Around 5pm ish we decided it was time to check out the pool. Had to wait a few minutes to get in as they'd run out of towels, but otherwise fine.

So... I'm not a girl, and nor do I wear a bikini (the cops told me not to do that again) however this comic is otherwise appropriate. ...

One of the pools was closed off, wasn't sure why. Anyway, water was a pleasant temperature, and I got away without 3rd degree sunburn, so I'll count that as a win.

In the evening we went down to Mandalay Bay for dinner and to catch the band Phoenix.

Initially I had booked a table at Libertine Social, however when we saw it the other day it just didn't look like our kind of place. So changed to House of Blues. They have quite a good beer selection, I went for the Crafthaus Coffee Stout. Really good beer, I would recommend it.

Dinner I had the bbq platter with a rack of ribs. They were pretty good, sauce was good and the meat was not dry. Mrs P also had the platter but had the sausage (stop giggling at the back!) and she said that was decent. Points taken off though for the silly little chunk of corn and also the beans were only lukewarm.

After dinner went for a shufty around the casino. Mrs P wouldn't let me play this machine in case it triggered an endless stream of poorly remembered Python sketches. Ha, too late. Your Mother was a hamster!

    2018-05-12 15.57.03.jpg

Ended up at the appropriately named Rhythm and riffs bar. Went onto the Milk Stout, good beer, but it was kind of expensive.

    A shrubbery?

The band eventually came on, and they were pretty good. Went through a load of classic rock hits.

When I'm a bit older, I aspire to be like the guy rocking out down the front without a care in the world and giving zero ducks what anyone else thinks. I salute you Sir!

Sounds like the Ohio State clog-dancing team have moved in upstairs. Let's hope they don't stay long.

Go Bucks! If they have a clog dancing team, I'm sure they're better than M*ch*g*n's!

Our clog dancing team, along with all other major/minor sports, has a fantastic handle on the concept of "just wait 'til next year", thank you very much.

.....and your father smelled of elderberry.

I’m a big fan of milk/coffee/chocolate stouts. Imperial stouts, Russian stouts, bring ‘em on. Hoping to have a couple today.

But first, I need to make Pancakes for the bride as it’s Mother’s Day. My go to recipe uses vinegar to make “buttermilk”. https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/162760/fluffy-pancakes/

Friday we got up late (well late for us) and headed up the Strip to Aria for the buffet, courtesy of MyVegas. There wasn't much of a line, and didn't take long to get in.

Would you believe that someone had already eaten half my stack of pancakes?

Food choices were good, and the quality was great. Nice that it has Indian food as well, although I didn't have any this time. I did however, have all the meats....

    2018-05-12 16.36.16.jpg

Got lost on the way back to our table one time and had to walk past the entrance. Pretty sure everyone in the line was silently judging my food choices o_O

In a minor food coma we staggered back to Excalibur and hit the slots. Didn't lose as much as I could have but I can't really call that a success.

U2 were playing at the TMobile arena that night so that seemed like an excellent reason to head Downtown for the evening. We caught the WAX bus from the stop outside NYNY, it was $2 each and nice and easy.

After a quick stroll up and down we found ourselves in Main Street Station, and had dinner in the Triple 7 pub. I had the Royal Red ale which was excellent.

    2018-05-13 16.26.12.jpg

I wasn't hugely hungry so ordered a couple of starters rather than a main. Yeah, I forgot I was in America!

    2018-05-13 16.26.35.jpg

I finished the mozzarella sticks, made a dent in the tater tots, but only ate a couple of the beer battered mushrooms. Such a waste, it was all good though.

Spent the rest of the evening wandering up and down Fremont Street. The light shows didn't seem as goodas previous, I suppose they were from newer bands and we're just not down with the kids :haha:

It turns out that Fremont casino has a whole row of Gigantic Sevens machines so this made me happy. Until I was down 100 bucks, then it sucked

Had a walk around the Container Park, It was quiet.

    2018-05-13 16.27.18.jpg

Couldn't figure out where to get the bus back from so got a cab, $30 ish with tip. Good night overall.

Bus stop is confusing, The Deuce departs in front of Heart Attack Grill, WAX and SDX depart in front of Binion’s.

I got lost last year too as we waited for the SDX for about 45 mins then realised it had finished for the night. Walked the wrong way looking for the deuce stop and I ended up sitting next to a sleeping dude in some random bus stop while my +1 looked for a cab. We got a cab, but yeah. I feel you.

    Nice pics!

I think the container park is really cool, if I lived in Vegas and had a kid I’d definitely take them there to play during the day. It just seems like it’s never busy the few times I’ve been. Tks for the pictures and the great TR!
