Yesterday we decided to have a bit of a walk up the Strip to see what was new. After grabbing a coffee from our friendly coffee lady, we tiptoed past the line of people waiting for the pool to open, and stepped into the heat to head north.

First stop was NYNY, and I bet you were thinking breakfast at 48th and Crepe, right? I was severely tempted, but not this time, sorry guys.

We headed north again to what remains of Monte Carlo. Oh my God, what have they done. They've taken anything that was good about it and got shut . To even get in you have to pretty much walk through a construction zone. Sambalatte, that pizza place, the Pub, even the food court - gone. The casino was completely dead, there must have been about twenty people in there.

Had a quick look at the menu at Bavettes steak house. Bit too pricey for us this time.

Walked up to the tram. What once was a pleasant ambulatory experience (there was a Starbucks, shops, a frozen yogurt place) is now a soul-destroying endless corporate corridor. But there's some potted plants dotted about, don't forget it's the Park now, right?

Anyway, that's enough doom and gloom. I was sneezing my arse off so we must have arrived at the Bellagio conservatory. Very impressive as usual.

Crossed the Strip to go round PH and the Miracle Mile shops. Looks like Cheeseburger Las Vegas has gone, that was one of my favourites.

On the strip mall just south of PH looks like there is a new food court, with pizza, tacos donuts and Indian food. All the major food groups are represented! And if the Indian tastes as good as it smells, it should be awesome. We will check back later and report.

Down a bit further, and the Grand Canyon gift shop has also gone. I wonder how they got the helicopter out? (Same way they got it in I guess?)

Stopped in MGM Grand for a very late breakfast, I had the sausage egg and cheese from Johnny Rockets. That was nothing to write a trip report about, but the accompanying tater tots were really good. Light, fluffy and not at all greasy.

Then it was back to Excalibur to put our feet up after all that walking. It turns out that the frozen yogurt place in the food court does a salted caramel flavour. Oh it's good. Really good. I am so fat now.

The rest of the afternoon we hit the slots. Had reasonable success on my favourite Gigantic Sevens machine, hit a bonus round for 114 bucks. Which was nice.

Dinner, we weren't that hungry so found ourselves in NYNY again. Had the slice and a beer from the pizza place. Fun fact: when we first stayed at NYNY it was $5. Now it's $7.77. Pizza is pretty good. The beer is probably the worst beer I've had in my life. So far.

After that it was back to the Fun Dungeon for a rematch. I'm pleased to say I won and we are now at 1 all. Got a good haul from the carnival machines as well.

Some limited success on the Fireball machine then called it a night.

If we collect enough, we could get him to a Huddle House

@Pancakes Have you tried Coco's just past Hooters? I really like their pancakes. They aren't dense. However, a pancake connoisseur might find the establishment a bit low brow.

Yesterday we took a trip out to Sam's Town. This has a nice change of pace to the Strip, and the staff are really nice and helpful, and make us feel welcomed.

I went to get a new loyalty card and found out that America is just as fed up with hearing about the royal wedding as we are. Also she liked my accent, but alas I didn't get any bonus points for that. It did elicit a frown from Mrs P though, so it made me chuckle.

We hit the buffet for breakfast, it wasn't amazing, but it wasn't bad either. And you can't complain really for $7.99 (with b- connected card). There was a line for the omelette station and I was hungry so didn't bother. They looked good though.

We grabbed a coffee and chilled out with the critters for a bit while digesting breakfast.

Played some video poker for an hour or so. Came so close to getting the elusive royal flush...

On the way back into town, it was quite warm...

Stopped for a late lunch at the best burger place in my humble opinion.

This was from the store on Maryland, it was fairly quiet but I suppose it was after 2pm by this point.

    20180509_133828.jpg

Didn't do much in the afternoon, played the slots some more, had a few beers.

Then after dinner, it happened. I hit the jackpot. The big one . Just waiting for the host to call and upgrade us to the penthouse suite. Get in.

So while I was standing there in the Fun Dungeon as this machine churned out tickets, there was this kid with her Dad playing the machine next to us, she must have been about 7 or 8. The kid was looking daggers at me, her Dad was just rolling his eyes. It was so funny, I was almost going to give her the tickets but naah. You don't win by getting a strop on. Actually I need to remember that myself sometimes :haha:

There are bears hiding behind the curtains where the open pizza box is. This is a known tactic of theirs.

Also, a friend of mine who is a local ordered pancakes for dinner at the Peppermill. The serving size was like a tourist attraction, but she swore by the quality.

Another Skechers fan, that’s all that has touched my feet in the last few years. I have to ask, on such a long stay, why only at one hotel? I’ve seen some here mention on shorter stays, staying at 2 different hotels to mix it up.

    Good luck.

If it hadn't been for Google, I'd be busy right now, reattaching the tongue I'd just bitten off.
