    My Trip Report

In order to take advantage of a loss rebate offer, I decided to take what amounted to be a 13.5 hour trip to Vegas. If you want some background regarding the loss rebate offer, check out this VMB thread:
    https://www.vegasmessageboard.com/forums/index.php?threads/m-resort-offering-500-rebate-for-new-players.143218/

In July I visited M Resort for the first time and signed up for their Marquee Rewards players card. At the time, new sign ups were eligible for a reimbursement on losses (up to $500) in the form of free play. The dates of the free play would be e-mailed to me within 14 days after losing. I lost $500 there in July playing DW44 VP at 32 Degrees bar and playing Buffalo slots.

Sure enough, I received an e-mail less than 14 days later stating $250 in free play would be loaded on my players card redeemable between July 29 and August 29 and another $250 in free play would be redeemable between August 30 and September 29. A few days after that, I received a mailer from M Resort offering two free nights and an additional $200 in free play, valid July 24 until September 22.

Clearly, I wanted to take advantage of redeeming $700 in free play and staying in a room at M Resort. So, I booked a Southwest flight departing SLC at 8:40pm and arriving LAS at 9:00pm on August 29th. Returning August 30th at 12:45pm. I chose this time period so that I could miss the least amount of work but also because I could get all my available free play in one trip.

OK, sorry if that's more background than you cared about. Here's the actual trip report...

It took one minute and 40 seconds to get through security at SLC. I love the SLC airport because it never takes long to get though security even during busier times. There were only 40 people on the Southwest flight, so we all got our own row. I had two Southwest drink tickets so I enjoyed two Fat Tires during the 55 minute flight. We landed a few minutes early. M Resort has a free shuttle from the airport, but it wasn't leaving until 9:30 and time was precious. So, I took Uber Pool instead. $15 including tip and I was the only passenger. I got to M Resort and checked in 4 minutes before the M Resort shuttle was scheduled to leave the airport.

I was assigned room 7131. This is a king, non-smoking room with a strip view. The room is well-appointed with a double vanity and large windows for a nice nighttime view of the strip:

That football-shaped blue thing is the resort's main pool.

After checking out my room, I went downstairs and found a video poker machine on the floor. I am sure some of you would have chosen to play a lower variance VP game with a bit higher return to grind the free play, but I chose to play 50 cent DDB. When I inserted my card into the slant top, $450 in free play was already loaded on my card so I didn't need to visit the players club. I played through the $450 free play and turned it into $300 cash. Not the greatest return, but pretty good considering zero quads and only one full house came in the session:

After cashing in the voucher for the benjamins, I visited the Vig Deli. Part of my teaser offer included $50 worth of food at any M Resort restaurants. The $50 had to be used in one transaction, and the only restaurant open (other than the bakery) at 10pm was the Vig Deli. So, this is what $50 got me:
I put a good dent in the burger and onion rings, but couldn't come close to finishing the chicken fingers. I saved the fruit bowls for breakfast. I don't know if you can tell in the picture, but I bought five vitamin waters. I had three that night and two the next morning.

Now I had to wait until midnight for the remaining $250 free play to appear on my card, so I just hung out in the room enjoying the view and watched some TV. The TV got high definition channels, which is important to me. There's also a TV embedded into the bathroom mirror. I haven't stayed at a hotel on the strip in several years, but the view from my room at M Resort was really nice and the windows were big.

When midnight arrived I went back downstairs to the same slant top machine. I entered my PIN and claimed my final $250 in free play. I played 50 cent DDB again. Thanks to one non-premium quad I turned the free play into $335 actual dollars.

And that was it for gambling. I turned the $700 free play into $635 actual dollars. I was pleased with this outcome as it meant I got my $500 back I lost in July and then some. I spent about 30 minutes total at the VP machine to work through the free play. During that 30 minutes I was never approached by a cocktail waitress. Perhaps the only disappointing part of my time at M Resort.

The next morning I went to the sports book to place some parlay bets. Then I had some time to kill before the shuttle to the airport at 11am, so I walked around the property and took some pictures:
This was the daytime view from my room.

This is what you see as you enter the M Resort. The restaurant you see there is the burger joint, which is open for breakfast.

The main pool. You may be able to make out the stage area toward the rear of the pool. Kesha will be performing there on September 16th. There is an adults-only pool on the property too.

The sports book is run by Cantor Gaming. Blech.

I know it looks dead, but this is basically a second pit area. There were people at the tables at the other pit area. $5 craps with 10x odds and decent rules on blackjack with $5 $10 and $15 table minimums. You remember blackjack, where it pays 3:2? Yeah, that's still a thing here.

Plenty of space at this property.

The non-smoking section is puny, but I didn't notice much smoke throughout.

The 32 Degrees Bar featuring lots of delicious beer. Thanks to @tringlomane for telling me about DW44 here back in July.

A few minutes before 11am I went outside to wait for the airport shuttle. 15 minutes after departure, we arrived at the airport. Yada yada yada I got home without incident. And when I got home I checked the mail and what did I find but a mailer for a future stay at the M Resort.

I know the location of M Resort is enough to prevent many of you from visiting, and I understand that. It's a beautiful property with fair gambling odds. If you have the opportunity to get out here, I think you'll enjoy it.

Thanks for reading. My next trip is scheduled for October 27-30, staying at El Cortez. I'm certain that trip will involve much more gambling and drinking than this 13.5 hour trip.

Thanks. I hope you get the opportunity to check it out. It's not a place I will visit every trip because of its location, but I'll certainly keep it in the mix and pay attention to the promos there.

Nice trip report. Congrats on the wins. I've only been to the M once (a few years ago) and remember it as being a really nice place.

I really miss M, but with their card rewards resetting every six months I can't get there often enough to rack up any decent rewards.

But if I lived within driving distance, it would be my hotel of choice by far.

Good point. I didn't realize they reset every six months. Seems that many of the locals-oriented Vegas casinos reset at 6 months rather than 12. Red Rock Resorts (aka Stations) come to mind.

Nice pictures and freeplay return. Probably the thing that would prevent me from playing that offer is the set dates and your freeplay is available. I would prefer that it's available when your next trip is rather then the date range.

I love the M and you have to eat at Anthony's there. They have an incredible balcony area outside to sit and have cocktails and the BEST lamb chops I've ever eaten. Sea bass was also top top! Priced very fairly and I've always had perfect service.

Just cash out your points in free play at the end of each trip and you won't have to worry about them expiring.

I was absolutely in love with the M!
This is crazy but I would tag along with hubby when he would go for work every February- well. I found out I was pregnant before the trip but still went to gamble, the cocktail Server asked why I want drinking this year?!? I was blown away, we were there for 4 days the year prior (we may have been very good tippers and very drunk) but wow, what a memory for her!
I never have an issue getting a drink there, when I am playing PG or BJ, BUT I never see one when I'm playing VP!!!!! The CWs for the tables are always on the tables (at least they were for the 3 years we went)

As for everything else there, we were assigned a host after our first visit, second we were given a $200 F&B credit and a welcome gift but maybe because I was pregnant & not drinking, my gambling was a lot less-and hubby had more conference obligations, our host made the comment that our play was not where it was in the past. Room was paid for by his work, so the only comp was dinner-:ssst:

But loved seeing your Pics, brings me back!!!
I wish i was able to do that!

It's not the cashback rewards, it's climbing up the tier, and only getting to use those perks if I made a return trip later that year. Otherwise I'm starting from scratch with each visit. It's designed for locals, not for people like me who come once or twice a year. And to be fair, that's their main clientele, not me.

Yes, true, but the post I was replying to was about "racking up rewards" not about tier status, and so anyone concerned with losing rewards they earned, can cash them out. I'm not a local, but the M is a regular stay for us. Lastly, if you visit any casino, "once or twice a year", tier status is going to be difficult to achieve anywhere. Do you know any LV property that counts more than a year of play to achieve a tier status?
